WIBU to work from home to go to the beach?

peachyhead · 25/06/2026 13:14

I live near the beach. Usually can't wfh but occasionally I can e.g. if I am getting work done at home or have an appointment. Would it be unreasonable to ask to wfh for the day tomorrow so I can go to the beach at lunchtime? I might stay out a little longer but will have my phone/laptop with me.

For the lies, the lies, the lies! Or rather, white lies.

It's pretty obvious you requested them to get deleted, so you could then pretend they were offensive and name calling!! Your weird witch hunt on Op and her lunch break is baffling, but quite amusing.

'Pretty obvious' to just you, with no proof.
As if Mumsnet would just delete perfectly ok posts.

Even on this very thread
in black and white
not the sharpest tool in the box I suspect

I think if you were to tell your boss that you wanted to work at the beach to job hunt…. I don’t think they’d have a problem with that at all. And no need to lie about a fictional appointment. Win win

I might just do that. Thanks for the advice!

Do it! They may well suggest you take as much time as you need if you’re job hunting!

your obsession with this whole situation is getting really weird. it’s happened now, it all worked out fine, don’t stress yourself out. i don’t have any plans to WFB (work from beach) any time soon but glad i did the other week :)

job hunt! It’ll be a win win for both you and your employer! Maybe go for one that is 100% wfh then no need to tell porkies

Riddlemesenseless · 05/07/2026 21:16

Good luck!

I’ve worked from home probably less than 5 times in as many years. I’m fine to be in the office. I have no intention to look for a new job, I’m happy where I am. Hope that helps ease your mind?

Beautiful
Grab the paddle board and go after work?
good luck!

Riddlemesenseless · 06/07/2026 06:58

Just realised I didn’t answer the “moral question” you really wanted the thread to be about.
Is it moral to lie to your employer about a fictional appointment to be able to wfh to facilitate being able to go to the beach over your lunch break?
no, it’s not “moral” to lie

a touch concerning that you didn’t know this but 🤷‍♀️ maybe the sun got to you?

Anyway enjoy your day in the office!
