Blimey it’s lovely op. I would like a cake like that for my birthday and I’m old enough to be an 8 year olds grandma.

Dollymylove · 23/06/2026 15:22

Its cake, I say, CAKE....cake is NEVER embarrassing 😇

CrushedLemons · 23/06/2026 15:24

I love it and prefer that it looks homemade

whippersnapper55 · 23/06/2026 15:24

It looks fabulous and in my experience, people are always impressed with a homemade cake!

Viviennemary · 23/06/2026 15:25

It's pretty awful tbh. But it is what it is and it's just a cake.

PauliesWalnuts · 23/06/2026 15:26

Who wouldn’t love a chocolate tower? Plus it’s more that I got on Saturday - I think it’s great and I’m very envious.

bridgetreilly · 23/06/2026 15:27

It’s lovely. She might be embarrassed, because it’s almost impossIble to know what is going to embarrass a child at any given moment. But you should certainly serve it.

Garfieldloveslasagnepie · 23/06/2026 15:27

It looks amazing

ThatPeachSwan · 23/06/2026 15:29

It looks great OP! Home made cakes always taste much nicer too x

Twiglets1 · 23/06/2026 15:30

The cake looks lovely, you are worrying unnecessarily @Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday

AutumnLover1990 · 23/06/2026 15:30

It looks great and i can tell it was made with a lot of love 😀

ilovesushi · 23/06/2026 15:31

Super cute!

ArtistBaptist · 23/06/2026 15:31

I'm afraid it is rather embarrassing!
If you're in West London I'll take it off your hands!

Only joking, it's great.

Oh come on @Viviennemary, you're such a killjoy. What sort of cakes do your children have?

Staticgirl · 23/06/2026 15:31

As an 8 year old I would have loved it because 1. cake 2. cute
Right now I would love it too.
I could really eat a chocolate cake right now. <sigh>
It's hard to predict with tweens though, I accept.

Snufkin88 · 23/06/2026 15:32

It looks great and yummy too

Bumply · 23/06/2026 15:33

Compared to some doozies I’ve made (and for my child’s public party not just for home view) this one looks perfect.

Give yourself a pat on the back and any moaners don’t get a piece (of what looks a yummy cake)

InterIgnis · 23/06/2026 15:33

BruFord · 23/06/2026 15:18

@InterIgnis For my DD's eighth birthday, I made a Hogwarts castle (not particularly well) and one of the towers fell off while we were transporting it to the venue. Everyone thought it was great, even with a dodgy tower!

8-year-olds aren't the same as self-conscious 13-year-olds, this cake is lovely and it'll taste amazing.

I’m not saying that she will be embarrassed, but that I can see why she could be. Neither of us know this particularly 8 year old to say whether she is or isn’t that self conscious.

BillieWiper · 23/06/2026 15:35

In what way could it be? It looks really cute to me. I don't really like chocolate cake but lots of people do and it looks lovely. Not professional but often professional cakes are more about look than taste.

Mydahliasareshit · 23/06/2026 15:36

It's very cute, no doubt delicious, and an act of love OP. 😍
Keep the photo and your daughter will look back on that with great joy.
Any snotty mums being bitchy just because they've nothing else to do, just say with a big smile and a glimpse at your watch 'oh...would you prefer a margarita this time of day Sue?' 😂

jackstini · 23/06/2026 15:38

I would be very happy to serve it and eat it!

fireandlightening · 23/06/2026 15:40

It's super cute!

malware · 23/06/2026 15:43

Kudos to you for baking a cake (and such a joyous one too!) on a day like today. Mums like you deserve medals!

ToffeePennie · 23/06/2026 15:45

It’s cake.
whats more; it’s chocolate cake with guinea pigs (I refuse to accept its capybaras, they’re Guinea pigs!) on it! It looks adorable and I bet it tastes delicious!

Livingthebestlife · 23/06/2026 15:46

You know what, it looks lovely, it looks tasty and moist and I would be very happy eating that. I absolutely love when people make their own cakes, they are always so delicious. The last 4 parties I went to cakes were bought from professionals and the focus was definitely on the look rather than the taste, which were all so dry that you needed a drink to eat it and they were ridiculous amounts of money.
