Did you expect all the posters to tell you its great? You obviously know it far from perfect so why do you get offended when people politely describe what they see?

There is nothing embarrassing about not being able to make a descent looking cake but its weird thinking people are being mean when they arent.

I genuinly dont understand why is it mean to say the cake looks messy when is does look messy and that she is used to better looking cakes.

Yes good effort from a loving mother but it still doesnt make the cake look any better. Is it a British thing to say something looks good when it doesnt just to appreciate the effort? I mean I wouldnt make any comments whatsoever if I got served a cake like this but if I get asked about it on an internet forum I just give honest feedback.

@katepilar The poster who made those comments didn't say that it was a good effort albeit a bit messy, she was entirely negative.
