I think it's lovely!

Bournetilly · 23/06/2026 16:26

My almost 7 year old would be happy with this.

Lovelyview · 23/06/2026 16:27

I really like it. Great cake. My husband used to make our kids' cakes at that age and they were always fab and clearly amateur/home made. The minecraft one with a swimming pool was a particular high point. Hope your daughter likes it op.

Lifeomars · 23/06/2026 16:30

looks great and more to the point it looks tasty. I see some of these cakes online and the very smooth sort of paste icing looks so sickly and inedible . I would love a slice of that yummy looking pretty cake that has obviously been made with love

Fizzybluewater · 23/06/2026 16:30

It's so cute 😍I'd love your cake OP for my birthday, as one who doesn't celebrate birthdays and a LOT older than your d ! 😉

Nursemumma92 · 23/06/2026 16:32

My 8 year old DD would have loved this as her cake, it's great!

Jardenalia · 23/06/2026 16:32

Not embarrassing. Hilarious! Whether I would serve it would depend on the child. What do they think of it?

It's pretty awful tbh. But it is what it is and it's just a cake.

Get a life

Port1aCastis · 23/06/2026 16:34

I think it's great, well done. A lot of effort and TLC gone into making that cake.

Daftypants · 23/06/2026 16:34

No it’s not an embarrassing cake 🎂 it looks fab and she’ll be delighted that you , her mum , went to all the effort to make this instead of paying £££ for some custom made overpriced cake that won’t taste as good

100% this.

A cake made with nice ingredients and with love is far superior to a bought one with who-knows-what in it, and made mainly for appearance's sake.

openended · 23/06/2026 16:37

Is it possible to take the decorations off and cover the cake again? It's the finish that doesnt look great tbh and the decorations don't detract from it. I would serve it if we were at home and it was for my own family. I wouldn't serve it to kids at a birthday venue as it looks like it is melting.

I have watched you post on MN for years and 95% of the time it’s something miserable and/or rude. Take a day off.

Redpaisley · 23/06/2026 16:38

Viviennemary · 23/06/2026 16:12

So should you for that matter

But your comment was harsh. Why make someone feel bad?

Prombles · 23/06/2026 16:40

No, it looks good and I bet it tastes delicious. I'd be chuffed to bits if someone served that on my birthday.

Mumstheword1983 · 23/06/2026 16:44

Looks great. I could never manage anything as nice as this.

Somebody once made me a lemon drizzle birthday cake filled with home made lemon curd and fresh cream. Plain to behold and heaven on earth to scoff and share with friends. It was decorated with sugared flowers from her garden, I've never forgotten it💛

Duvetdayneeded · 23/06/2026 16:45

Can’t you get edible flowers to make it more interesting?

Magicpaintbrush · 23/06/2026 16:47

It's adorable and looks delicious 🙂

Is this a humblebrag or something?

Yes of course, I mean, just look at it 🤣

Redflagsabounded · 23/06/2026 16:55

I thought the flowers were plastic and to be honest, don't think they look right just plonked all over it. They're too big, the scale doesn't look right for that.

I'd take the flowers off and arrange round the bottom edge instead - it'll look more balanced.

Other than that, I think it's a great cake!

ThatJadeLion · 23/06/2026 16:58

Awh this is so charming, I love it!!

Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday · 23/06/2026 16:59

Peterdottir · 23/06/2026 16:03

I wouldn't be embarrassed but I'd be worried about cutting it!

Why?

OP posts:
GertieLawrence · 23/06/2026 17:01

It looks delicious.

Are the flowers relevant to the characters (oldie here, not familiar with it sorry). If not, I’d maybe remove those and replace them with something chocolatey so it looks even more yum and just a little bit less busy.

Fatiguedwithlife · 23/06/2026 17:05

We only have home made cakes as I can’t cope with the price of having one made and the shop ones are 🤢
My DDs had their 10 and 21st birthdays this weekend and everyone was happy with their cakes!
Yoyrs is lovely
