I know many people don't like Owen Jones, but I found this article deeply disturbing.

I am a child of immigrants, and my children are mixed race. So things like this are really starting to worry me.

I completely understand why people are angry at the current rate and quality of immigration (my own family are also disgruntled with it). But Restore want to deport even those who have citizenship.

And I am genuinely concerned that things are going to get worse than Farage if the government don't get a grip on this.

Farage parted ways with Lowe because of Lowe's stance on deportation. If immigrants are here legally, there isn't an issue. I would take what Jones, the rape denier says, with a huge sprinkling of salt.

Actually it’s a Restore policy to deport legal immigrants in several circumstances, if they end up claiming any benefits for example.

Farage has promised to abolish ILR. ILR holders are legal immigrants.

Also, rioters dont care who is legal or not when burning houses and targeting Ugandan nurses in Ireland.

Well that could explain why Restore are way behind Reform on the You gov poll.

napody · Today 07:31

Owen Jones is a stopped clock but he's right about this- it's patently fucking obvious that racism is becoming mainstream.

I wouldn't take this to mean Farage is in any way moderate- he was proposing removing 'indefinite leave to remain' last year. That'd include people like my uncle who came here form Spain 40 years ago and has worked a gruelling job as a social worker since.

They're slightly different flavours of fascist, that's all. But YANBU that Restore Britain is a massive concern. It'll be interesting how many people can't bring themselves to acknowledge that because of their dislike of OJ. I wish he'd realise that him speaking up is pretty counterproductive here!

Owen Jones is truly racist - some of the stuff he's said about Jews are word for word the same as what Nick Griffin has said

Much more succinct than my post. Who's still ignoring the racism? How can you not see it?!

That's pertaining to rioters not policy, which is what the OP is about. Although people like to put words into Farage's mouth and interpret what he says to suit.

Reform has clearly announced plans to abolish ILR. Not put any words into Farage's mouth.

Words like 'pure cold rage'??
And you didn't address the other point about ILR.

So your comment was incorrect,
regardless of what they’re polling their policy is in fact to deport several forms of immigration who have full legal status.

Oh please. You're talking about people not taking what he says because Jones is so disliked. That really is rich. Farage this that and t'other on MN led by mostly hysteria.

What a bizzare comment, it’s a valid topic of conversation to discuss a growing political party.
Are you only allowed to discuss the current party for some reason?

Ah yes, hysteria.
Farage inciting rioting. People's houses being burned down because of the colour of their skin.
Shrug.

I'm not going over the subjective pure cold rage term as its been picked up run with and done to death. If you want to discuss it carry on.

friedaklein · Today 07:39

Anyway, as always, legal immigrants are going to take the heat because successive govts fucked up asylum policies and allowed too many unvetted men into the country.

Nobody is going to be able to tell us apart.

Really like what? I’ve heard him criticise Zionism, and the insane policy of Palestinian children in Israeli jails. As an FYI Israel also has a dual legal system, one for Israelis and one for Palestinians & guess which one detains children’s and has the death penalty.

It’s possible to criticise a countries policies esp towards the marginalised without being racist, or should Israeli policies be above reproach?

Yes, facts are inconvenient. Out of interest, what WOULD he have to do or say to be unacceptable to you?

And you STILL haven't addressed the ILR point. Did you support Farages proposal to deport people with indefinite leave to remain, that have been here legally for decades?

You don't know the difference between subjective and objective then. I'm not running around in circles with you.

You have actually answered my first question, thanks. So as long as he doesn't say ' go and burn down brown people's houses' (objective) he can say anything he likes about how people should respond with rage ('subjective' by your definition) and that's fine?

Still nothing on ILR.

Which is, apart from anything else, reneging on a deal/promise made with someone. The people in question did everything "right" followed the system and jumped through all the hoops and were told they can stay and arranged their life accordingly. It feels incredibly unfair/wrong to go back on that after thenfact. The fact that a politician promising to break their word in that way is a selling point for some people is a crazy mindset. If they are openly talking about how willing they are to break promises they will break promises to theirnvoters as well It's like women/men who have affairs with married men and then are surprised Pikachu when he/she cheats on them.

ILR won't be scrapped but modified as there are many legal implications involved. I know you think Farage has some massive superpowers but making every immigrant disappear from the UK isn't one of them.
