'Afghan men 'fled UK in lorry after raping girl'

Mobile phone footage recovered from Safi's phone showed the men in the lorry laughing and gesticulating, which Hetherington said suggested they thought they "got away with it".

When they were found by French police in Calais on 3 December, they were returned to the UK.
Hetherington said the trio had no travel documents or identification and had given false names to French authorities.
After their real names were checked on police systems, they were arrested on suspicion of rape.
Sali, of St Werburghs, denies one count of human trafficking and two charges of rape.
Habibkheil, of Lockleaze, denies one count of human trafficking and one charge of rape.
Ahmadzai, of Redcliffe, denies one charge of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.
The 16-year-old also denied one charge of rape.
The trial continues.'

Afghan men accused of fleeing UK after raping girl in Bristol

A jury is told three defendants left the country in a "deeply unusual" way after the alleged rape.

We should repeal the international law and treaties that bind us to do this and accept asylum applications. I'm ashamed to admit this, but it has to be done now.

ACatNamedRobin · Yesterday 19:13

Yes you're right OP, but nothing meaningful will be done.
We're too far down the path of bending down to these types of people.

Funnily enough, I've a Turkish colleague - who was saying how fearful she and her husband were walking in Whitechapel in London. She said, she imagined that her town would have been like that if Attaturk never existed.

notatinydancer · Yesterday 19:13

Agreed. But what can be done ? More and more come every day.

Dnfs · Yesterday 19:15

India is not party to the refugee convention. The USA (for all its ills) now blatantly just refuses asylum applications and sends people away

OneTealShaker · Yesterday 19:17

Yeah but, diversity, innit.

Whats a few women getting raped as long as we can feel good about open borders.

We need to invest more money on top of paying for them to live for free, to teach these men to not rape women.

If we don’t bring them here and teach them, the women in their own countries would suffer at their hands instead.

More white men commit rapes in this country. Don’t tell us about over representation or per capita realities.

oi racist.

All arguments made by women on this very forum. And they’ll be along in a minute to fight the rapists corner. Thought id save them the trouble in regurgitating.

bilbohaggins · Yesterday 19:17

We could send unaccompanied men back - Germany is sending men back to Afghanistan. It could be done. Denmark is no longer giving people permanent asylum. This can be done too. People could write to Shabana Mahmood and say they support her reforms.

AntiHop · Yesterday 19:19

Not all men but always men

hattie43 · Yesterday 19:19

You’ll never get anything done with a Labour government who wants them here and shuts down any debate on the issue . All their rhetoric is to gaslight pretending they’re on our side . The states job is to protect its citizens and they aren’t doing that .

Icanseeasquirrel · Yesterday 19:24

I’ve worked in the immigration services for decades. Honestly. Detention for anyone without documentation. It’s protection and a deterrent at the same time. Would have been unthinkable 40 years ago to allow free entry to undocumented people let alone putting them in hotels and paying for their lawyers.

The UK is still doing the colonial guilt thing but does have an obligation to protect its citizens. The world is changing. We have to adapt.

Icanseeasquirrel · Yesterday 19:26

Shabana Mahmood seems to have a grip on the issues. No chance she will be able to persuade her party though. I do like her.

SomedayIllBeSaturdayNight · Yesterday 19:27

I can't find much on this story, were these men and boys here legally?

Dnfs · Yesterday 19:28

You'll get the "white men are bad" brigade as well. They ignore per capita though.

Yes. Like clockwork. Wilful ignorance. They make me feel sick.

We should stop accepting random people. This is clearly being fuelled by bad actors and we need to stop before things get worse.

Yep... so apparently we should let more rapists in because we have them here too. So sick of it all.

And the fact we don't need to add to the number of violent men here anyway in the first place

Agree.

Leaving the Dublin agreement has made it tough though as there simply isn’t room, unless we start building massive detention facilities.

it also hasn’t helped that we’ve lost access to Schengen databases. Farage and Brexit have created much of the immigration issue themselves.

what we need is much faster processing of asylum applications as well, get them turned round and sent home straight away if they don’t have a valid application.

Totally agree, the system needs to be much more efficient. The be fair to Labour, I think they have made good progress in this area.

Lecruesetisntright · Yesterday 19:46

We need to prosecute and more harshly sentence rapists. It will continue to go on whilst it's seen and treated as a petty crime.

The DA means very little.

Yanbu op

MySaintedAunt · Yesterday 19:51

I cannot understand why asylum seekers aren't securely detained while their asylum applications are processed. We don't have a clue who they are. One of the men responsible for the gang rape of a woman in Brighton recently was, it turned out, a convicted murderer in his home country, but was as free as a bird to roam here. Every single attack carried out by these men is entirely preventable.

In a speech last week Starmer stated the primary function of any Gov is the security of its population. Eyebrow raising stuff, as on this he has failed, and continues to fail, spectacularly.

Not even a crime apparently - if the judge's decision to let the 3 rapist traveller boys go home with a 'well done for showing up and being brave boys', is anything to go by.

It is getting worse. Every week there is a stranger sexual assault of some sort by these new arrivals they don’t seem understand that women are not men’s property to take of touch when it suits.
