'Afghan men 'fled UK in lorry after raping girl'

Mobile phone footage recovered from Safi's phone showed the men in the lorry laughing and gesticulating, which Hetherington said suggested they thought they "got away with it".

When they were found by French police in Calais on 3 December, they were returned to the UK.
Hetherington said the trio had no travel documents or identification and had given false names to French authorities.
After their real names were checked on police systems, they were arrested on suspicion of rape.
Sali, of St Werburghs, denies one count of human trafficking and two charges of rape.
Habibkheil, of Lockleaze, denies one count of human trafficking and one charge of rape.
Ahmadzai, of Redcliffe, denies one charge of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.
The 16-year-old also denied one charge of rape.
The trial continues.'

Afghan men accused of fleeing UK after raping girl in Bristol

A jury is told three defendants left the country in a "deeply unusual" way after the alleged rape.

You'll get the "white men are bad" brigade as well. They ignore per capita though.

Yep, it’s the new “NAMALT’. It is infuriating.

Not even a crime apparently - if the judge's decision to let the 3 rapist traveller boys go home with a 'well done for showing up and being brave boys', is anything to go by.

If men - particularly those in positions of power such as judges and MPs - could start seeing women and girls as fully human and valid in our own right, not bit part players and support animals in men's lives, that would help hugely. Shouldn't be too much to ask, should it.

I thought this was going to be about the Belfast attempted killing by an asylum seeker yesterday.

Northermcharn · Yesterday 19:58

I cannot understand why asylum seekers aren't securely detained while their asylum applications are processed. We don't have a clue who they are. One of the men responsible for the gang rape of a woman in Brighton recently was, it turned out, a convicted murderer in his home country, but was as free as a bird to roam here. Every single attack carried out by these men is entirely preventable.

In a speech last week Starmer stated the primary function of any Gov is the security of its population. Eyebrow raising stuff, as on this he has failed, and continues to fail, spectacularly.

Agreed

We could send unaccompanied men back - Germany is sending men back to Afghanistan. It could be done. Denmark is no longer giving people permanent asylum. This can be done too. People could write to Shabana Mahmood and say they support her reforms.

Denmark is giving permanent residence permits on the basis on this...

General Requirements (Must Be Met)

  • Age: You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Current status: You must hold a valid temporary residence permit.
  • Lawful residence: You must have lived legally in Denmark for at least 8 consecutive years.
  • Criminal record: You must not have committed certain types of crime.
  • Debt: You must not have any overdue public debt (e.g., unpaid taxes, student loans, child support).
  • Social benefits: You must not have received public assistance under the Active Social Policy Act for the past 3 years.
  • Declaration: You must sign a declaration of integration and language proficiency.
  • Employment: You must currently be employed.
  • Work history: You must have worked full-time for at least 3.5 years out of the last 4 years.
  • Language skills: You must have passed the Danish 2 exam.

The 4-Year Shortcut
You can apply after 4 years instead of 8 if you meet all the general requirements plus at least 4 of the supplementary requirements below:

Supplementary Requirements

  • Language excellence: You have passed the Danish 3 exam.
  • Work history volume: You have been employed full-time for at least 4 continuous years.
  • Active citizenship: You have passed the active citizenship exam
  • or been active in a local board/organization for 1 year.
  • Income level: You had an average taxable annual income of at least 323,284.14 DKK (adjusted yearly) over the last 2 years.

I'm starting to think it's the government bringing them in.

Otherwise, why won't they do something about them?

Women and girls are raped, people are being stabbed, yet our government says absolutely fuck all about it.

People say "rejoin the EU". Do you want to have to follow the migration pact? Or have to accept the immigration of refugees when EU nations gave them citizenship?

The last GE had enough voters who were fine with it. It’s messed up but hopefully they will be outnumbered next time.

We should stop accepting random people. This is clearly being fuelled by bad actors and we need to stop before things get worse.

Absolutely we need to stop visas

Rhaidimiddim · Yesterday 20:04

Dnfs · Yesterday 19:12

We should repeal the international law and treaties that bind us to do this and accept asylum applications. I'm ashamed to admit this, but it has to be done now.

Or start applying them. First country of safety and all that.

Visa’s? All of them? Student visa, work visa, what about tourist visa?

you know asylum seekers don’t travel on visas? So if you stop visas you stop legal migration for study and work, but will have no effect on asylum seekers.

Nail on the head. If the general public believe that the tide is turning and that numbers are greatly reducing and those breaking laws are extradited, then Reform won't have anything to campaign on. It's entirely up to Labour as to whether Reform win at the next GE or not. (To an extent also up to the Tories to come up with manifesto pledges etc to persuade voters to return to them - at least Kemi is starting to say the right things). If people don't believe Labour nor Tories will finally tackle immigration, then it's an open door for Reform to take control next time.

LlynTegid · Yesterday 20:08

There are enough remote places that are British soil where undocumented migrants could be held whilst applications are processed. Some Scottish islands, the western half of the Falklands, for example.

Places where there are not women and children to attack.

Though we must never think only those men coming from other countries harm women and we are only soft on them. Rolf Harris, Jimmy Saville, for example.

Well, work and study visas also need better controls as lots of students have arrived for "pretend courses" and lots of work visas are for unnecessary unskilled work like working in dodgy kebab shops etc. Toughen it all up - student visas for proper universities/colleges only, work permits for skill shortage jobs only in properly registered/legal businesses.

This was an unbelievably horrendous rape, and the perpetrators should absolutely be punished. But why did you make a thread about asylum seekers and refugees, instead of the almost total failure of our justice system to properly prosecute rape? This attack is bad enough, you don't need to turn it into yet another thread on the evils of migrants.

Universities need students. What does it matter what course they do, if they’re paying for it and subsidising UK students?

do you really think you can get an “unskilled worker visa” to work in a dodgy kebab shop? There is no such thing as an unskilled work visa- it’s actually very difficult to migrate legally to the UK.

perhaps you should focus more on the real immigration issues.

There are still many people denying reality though, as we see on here all the time. The more they are challenged the more they dig deeper into their cognitive dissonance / confirmation bias / reverse racism.

We should at times like this see some cross-party cooperation to resolve these issues. But none of the politicians seem to actually give a shit about the electorate - we pay them to work for us, and at the moment the elected government are ignoring / denying the elephant in the room.

Yep all of them.

I know they do not travel on visas but we want something to be done to stop these crimes....as we know letting in 42 million visitors into the country will drastically reduce the amount of criminals coming in...

It will help......will it not?

I think it's a mistake to believe that "the news" reflects what is happening in society.

For example, a Google search by me shows that eight people have been stabbed in London in the last five days. If you are like me, I cannot recall reading of that in the news.

Like every other internet content supplier, "the news"relies on clicks.

Some random person in London has been stabbed by another random person doesn't generate clicks.

In a similar way, if you read about one type of dog attacking a child and you click on it, you'll soon read about another similar type of attack.

To be sure, all of these attacks are horrendous. But to define your views by what is reported is to give the algorithm that generate it way too much power.
