AIBU to wonder how we spent so much doing nothing?

We were all exhausted this weekend, and literally didn't move further than 1 mile from our house.

How is it possible to spend so much money going nowhere and doing nothing?

I think we're going to need a bit more info really.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · Today 09:58

Takeaways?

Online shopping?

Tocsin · Today 09:59

😂

I mean when I say nothing I don't mean literally nothing, but nothing of any real note.

Didn't even get in the car!

How very vague.

Hayley1256 · Today 09:59

How much did you spend?

Tocsin · Today 10:00

@coulditbeme2323 you really need better communication skills for MN …

Needmorelego · Today 10:00

Well..... how much did you spend and on what?

KnittyKnotty · Today 10:01

Guessing if you check your online banking it will all be listed there.

Hope this helps.

Yetanotherone12 · Today 10:02

What did you spend “so much” money on then?

ordering Harrods to your house?
keeping your personal chef on overtime?

or a fish supper from the chippy?

coulditbeme2323 · Today 10:02

Sorry if being vague - multi tasking.

I guess my point is we literally haven't left anywhere that's not walking distance from our house, haven't done anything fancy, and it's amazing how quickly the coffee's etc add up.

Restinpeacefavouritecoathanger · Today 10:02

I get it - it's the little things popping to the shop for milk, picking up x y z, soon adds up to more than you realise on a weekend that your thinking your having a no spend or low spend weekend.
Probably need a bit more information though.

LasersInTheJungle · Today 10:03

Do you mean rent/mortgage payment and bills for two days?

Otherwise, no idea what yer on about.

I hope that you are being more thorough with your other tasks

Why did you start a thread about spending money doing nothing, if you're going to deliberately avoid telling us how much you spent and what you spent it on? 😳

I don't think anybody is massively interested in what we spent, I think my point was more that you can spend doing nothing and have nothing to show for it!

So you won't say stay you did it how much you spent, hope can people comment?

We had an at home weekend this weekend didn't go more than a mile from home, literally spent nothing. So it's very possible. We went to the park, walked down to the beach, did some gardening. DH and I both went to the gym, ds to gymnastics (technically these things cost money but not at the point of use)

Some will be assuming you mean £10 and think that it's not remarkable enough to start a thread on.

Others might think you mean £500 and assume you're a terrible spendthrift buying chiffon dresses for your dog online.

All you've conveyed is the fact that you didn't do much but spent more than £0.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · Today 10:12

It's easily done, particularly if you were tired and/or bored.

I went to the local Spar to get some milk. Ended up with crisps, nuts, cream, fruit, two magazines... twenty odd quid for some milk.

I was hungry and just thought 'oh, while I'm out in the car, save me popping in another day...' I had to apologise to the man behind the till and tell him that I do usually eat normal meals, because I bought such a pile of crap.

I think between 500-600 doing absolutely nothing!

Within walking distance of home, with nothing to show for it? That's not just coffees OP. I bought cars that cost that much.

Come on, £600 is my entire food budget for 6 weeks. Unless this is just a teeny fraction of your disposable income you must be absolutely shit with frittering money away without knowing where it's gone, and having nothing to show for it.

TheWineoftheChicken · Today 10:15

Well what did you spend it on?

Restinpeacefavouritecoathanger · Today 10:15

£5/600 on doing "nothing".
You definitely did something.
Don't honestly think I could spend that much money on "nothing" even if I tried.

Gcn · Today 10:17

£500 - £600 on coffees???? Don't be daft.

I mean 180 of that is online food shop, so I probably shouldn't count that. .
