To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

Riled Up Man Swears Shocker 🙄

If he's not to your taste, just ignore him. Just as I ignore whining leftists who believe they hold moral superiority over everyone else.

How dare new posters join who think differently to you.

Cute.

The only thing that matters in all of this is that Henry Nowak’s grieving family explicitly asked for Tommy Ten Names, Farage and their ilk not to exploit Henry’s death this way, and they have ignored it.

It just shows how they don’t care about the death of Henry or his family at all.

Anyone who supports going against a grieving family’s wishes are the lowest of the low.

Family and friends have said how inclusive Henry was and how many Sikh and other races/culture friends he had.
He was a leftist and actively spoke about how he dislike people like TR and their extremist views.

What a total disrespect for his memory for these idiots to be getting off on this.

I’m not saying I’m not angry about what happened to Henry Nowak. My post isn’t about how he was treated inhumanely by the police or how the police only listened to the murderer.

My OP is very specific but unfortunately many posters here haven’t bothered to read it.

You are absolutely not being unreasonable, Henry's parents specifically said they didn't want their son's death to be exploited by the likes of TR in this manner but TR doesn't seem to care, much like a lot of people on this thread.

I couldn't agree more. The likes of Robinson and Farage have jumped on this to push their fascist views. The poor young man and his family have not been respected. ...to try and say there is no such as white privilage is rubbish.

Passaggressfedup · 04/06/2026 10:15

Why are people choosing to conflict what OP is trying to convey?

This isn't about what happened. It's about the use of an offensive word in relation to a victim's name, for a personal purpose that has no place in this situation.

Sadly, Fuck has now become so common place, and indeed, often used to make the person using it to reinforce their own importance that it's no surprise.

I find it extremely distasteful too OP, but I just hate how people include it now in every sentence as normal speech. It's not a nice word and yeah, I would be really angry if it was used to refer to my children especially in the context of them being victims.

attichoarder · 04/06/2026 10:15

The appalling death of a young man who was then handcuffed and treated like perpetrator is horrific. I am not a TR supporter. I think that that there is two tier policing and this event shows that. I agree with NF on this and I think deflecting to focus on what he or TR says ignores what happens.

FabiaQuintilla · 04/06/2026 10:17

Completely agree op. The usual names are here of course to deflect with the accusation that if you’re concerned about this you don’t care.

Meanwhile, it’s clear they don’t care about anything more than driving division and harming ‘the left’. Precisely the same glee we see in photos of TR broadly grinning.

White privilege doesn’t mean nothing bad ever happens to a white person.

Those police officers massively fucked up - whether it was incompetence, an unconscious bias or some sort of deliberate action on their part we don’t know. Utter incompetence seems most likely.

I have alot of dealings with police in my work and I am very sure they are not institutionally prejudiced against white people.

I can see there could have been unconscious bias where these officers might have unwittingly thought “oh Sikhs, they’re the peaceful Asians” - and that’s obviously wrong as well. The last govt got rid of training for public sector to address unconscious bias as they thought it was too “woke”.

But throwing the whole Sikh community under the bus is not the answer. Rioting is not the answer.

There are loads of problems with the police. Think of what women suffer frequently at the hands of incompetent or misogynistic officers. But we’re not rioting. We need to look for constructive solutions.

Totally agree. I also work with Police, Social services and NHS and I would say my experience has mostly been very positive, that is over 30 years experience. Attitudes and policies have changed and for the better. There will sadly always be exceptions to the rule.
I rememeber the riots in tbe 70's and 80's and the growth of the National Front. It was horriblw to see and I hoped never to see it again.

Teethyblinders · 04/06/2026 10:17

He was murdered. And your main concern is a swear word?
Let me guess you’re also “outraged”by the protests but cheered along the George Floyd riots ? Public figures are racist for speaking out about Henry nowak but in 2020 they were racist if they didn’t take the knee for an American convict

It seems people are finally waking up to the fact “white privilege” is complete bullshit

likelysuspect · 04/06/2026 10:17

In terms of your absolute question, is it appalling how the victim was referred to?

YANBU

In terms of the narrative around this, its right that its raised. Its just a shame that due to a vacuum caused by virtue signalling, the only people raising it are deeply unpleasant racists

Where are the people on the left (Im one of them) coming out to say, the indoctrination in public services (not just the police) about victimhood and believing someone just because they fit a particular demographic (that includes women as well), centering perception of offence/abuse over actual evidence of abuse, is causing people to treat clients unfairly and with judgement.

NEGUY82 · 04/06/2026 09:48

Wow, I'm surprised to see so many "white privilege doesn't exist" posts on a forum occupied mostly by women. You know you've missed a word out there? "male" - the people that shout that slogan usually shout "white male privilege doesn't exist" - do you still agree with it??

White male persecution complex is hilarious (I say that as a white male) - look at the house of commons & lords and the CEOs of our largest companies - hardly any white males, they're nearly all black lesbians - oh.......

Well said. These TR/Farage/daily mail fans are so quick to jump on people ready to spout 'white privilege' as though a) it doesnt exist anymore b) that it should. One can't debate with idiots though...

Of course I have an understanding of a theory used to guilt trip white people, the same as white fragility.

So White Privilege just a theory in your eyes and has never existed and does not exist in reality ? Either you have very little knowledge of history and reality or you have been fed a very warped version.

I'd never heard of White Fragility. Ive just looked it up though.

I have quite a simple view point. That all people are equal, and should be treated equally, regardless of skin colour and ethnicity. I know this h hasnt happened historically and doesn't happen now. But it's what we should strive for.

TooBigForMyBoots · 04/06/2026 10:21

YANBU @Whereismyjoiedevivre, but it is only to be expected from Tommy Robinson. Hes a racist grifter with no class who hates Britain.

Ilikesundays · 04/06/2026 10:22

It’s the constant use of 4-letter words on this site that puts me off MN. I thought women were better than this - at least had a better grasp of English vocabulary and didn’t have to ape male lowlifes.

EverythingGolden · 04/06/2026 10:22

I certainly would not want my child’s name in Yaxley-Lennon’s mouth or to be used to stir up more trouble. If Henry Nowak’s family have explicitly asked for this then it’s very disrespectful of Y-R and Farage but not particularly surprising either.

Megifer · 04/06/2026 10:22

Im not a fan of the thug, but I do think you have hugely misunderstood unfortunately. There are so many things that could be used to discredit TR. His use of a swear word to punctuate a sentence is very weak one and just looks like youre grasping at straws.

Couldn't have said this better - the people complaining about Robinson and Farage 'riling people up' are getting riled up themselves feeding into this..

Just ignore the lot of them - that includes Farage, Starmer, Mahmood and all of the other parasites.

Northernladdette · 04/06/2026 10:23

I wouldn’t have liked it if it was my son. Tommy was just using this as a platform opportunity, this after Henry’s poor family asked for his death not to cause more discontent.
A peaceful protest or vigil would have been more in keeping. Locals were scared in their homes, having had their property damaged, and were then out sweeping the streets outside their homes afterwards 😢

I disagree. I think it shows exactly the sort of man he is. It's the sheer contempt for Nowak's own opinions and those of his parents, all he sees him as is a political football.
