To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 09:22

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

You're being unreasonable because your anger is displaced. We should be angry at the way this poor young man was treated, not at the words of someone who is angry about it... Truthfully, I think people like you are part of the problem, you're so upset about the words of the likes of Farage and Robinson that it deflects from the actual issue at hand.

Just to note, I dislike Farage, Robinson, Starmer - the lot of them so I ignore them. My concerns are with the failed system that lead to a young man being brutally killed and disbelieved.

Please don't put a decent man like Starmer in the same sentence as those two grifting scumbags.

Jellox · 04/06/2026 09:54

It’s disgusting that he’s exploiting this poor dead man and his grieving family for attention.

He manipulates people with low intelligence to make them believe he’s on the their side.
All the while, he’s making a living off of them and not even living in this country.

There should be a law that you cannot exploit someone’s death in this way.
They family have begged him and others to not do this and instead they are laughing in the face of this poor grieving family.

My heart breaks for them 💔
These people should be ashamed of themselves.

I have made a few comments but seriously you are giving oxygen to Farage and his cause the more you talk about it.

“and many many people have had enough”

you’ve had enough? What was building for you before this one incident when a police officer told a man he didn’t believe he’d been stabbed?

Well apart from policing Palestinian marches differently to Unite rallies, nothing really.

This is a really odd thing you say and I’m not sure how you think that would ‘solve all our problems’ anyway. Such as what? How?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/06/2026 09:56

White privilege doesn’t mean nothing bad ever happens to a white person.

Those police officers massively fucked up - whether it was incompetence, an unconscious bias or some sort of deliberate action on their part we don’t know. Utter incompetence seems most likely.

I have alot of dealings with police in my work and I am very sure they are not institutionally prejudiced against white people.

I can see there could have been unconscious bias where these officers might have unwittingly thought “oh Sikhs, they’re the peaceful Asians” - and that’s obviously wrong as well. The last govt got rid of training for public sector to address unconscious bias as they thought it was too “woke”.

But throwing the whole Sikh community under the bus is not the answer. Rioting is not the answer.

There are loads of problems with the police. Think of what women suffer frequently at the hands of incompetent or misogynistic officers. But we’re not rioting. We need to look for constructive solutions.

Low intelligence and Tommy ten names. Thats two on the bingo card already on the thread.

What white privilege?

You are the one who says it doesn't exist any more so I assumed you must have an understanding of it.

Screechypants · 04/06/2026 09:59

More than one thing can be problematic and discussed at the same time surely?

OP is absolutely correct in pointing out that the language used by violent, criminal liar Stephen Yaxley Lennon was disrespectful to Henry Novak's memory and his family. It is not beyond the wit of man to then argue that use of this type of language indicates )well betrays) that there is no genuine care or compassion for the victim or his family, and a tragic situation is being used to further the racist aims of SYL and his cronies.

No one is denying the murder is tragic and awful. It is. This doesn't mean that all commentary must be shut down.

As for scales falling from eyes, previous posters seem to have added balaclavas, stockings and dark glasses to
their own capacity for clearsightedness.

What is it you want to achieve? Punishment of all Sikhs? Police rights to shoot black/brown perpetrators on site? The removal of all people of colour? Or just the right to spread racial hatred on the back of a family's terrible loss? Your rights, life, choices haven't been affected. What do you actually want?

The murderer has rightly been arrested and charged. A boy is dead. The police fucked up. It's being addressed. it is tragic and awful.

Calling mothers far right racist thugs is not decent, saying women do not have the right to safe single sex spaces is not decent? Hiring a p3edof!le for one of the most important roles in the country is not decent... He was head of CPS when [some of] the rape gangs were being investigated... I am sorry to break it to you but these politicians are not decent people...

Well apart from policing Palestinian marches differently to Unite rallies, nothing really.

You’re right, they are far more heavy handed with those marching in sympathy with Palestine, arresting pensioners for just holding a sign, and that should be addressed.

It does sicken me that the Unite the Kingdom lot get to come to our capital city and trash it with their drunken hate marches, pissing in public and making people feel threatened, and nothing seems to be done. Something really should be done as it’s horrible for those of us who live in London to have to contend with. We basically can’t go to parts of our own city when it’s on - and pretty much none of them are from here!

PortSalutPlease · 04/06/2026 09:37

The only thing that matters in all of this is that Henry Nowak’s grieving family explicitly asked for Tommy Ten Names, Farage and their ilk not to exploit Henry’s death this way, and they have ignored it.

This is the only important point here

Because I don’t think he’s got a reasonable deputy to rile up the football hooligans in his absence. It will give a few years breathing space for sense to prevail

Pleasantly surprised by this thread. The tide really is turning, even on MN.

Only because there’s a concerted effort by right agitators (inc US and Russian co-ordinated) to target forums such as this and try to prove ‘the tide is turning.’

it’s not. Most of the pro Tommy/ Farage posters are recent joiners.

Most people still decent thankfully and don’t support men like Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

Imagine your 18 year old child is called Sally Potter.

Imagine she’s brutally murdered and a horrifying clip of her final moments broadcast for everyone to see.

Imagine the country’s most controversial political rabble rouser hijacking her murder for his own reputational gain and making a speech at a protest referring to her as

Sally Fucking Potter”

How would you feel? Is this acceptable?

Yes.

OP - Did you feel the same way when George Floyd’s death was ‘hijacked’ as you put it, and broadcast across all media?

George Floyd was murdered by the police.

A police officer was convicted of murder.

George Floyd was not attacked by anyone else and then died in police custody.
His death was a direct result of arrest.

Henry Nowak was attacked and murdered by Vickrum Digwa - which is why he has been convicted of murder and not the police officer.

Henry Nowak was not given the correct treatment whilst he was dying, both medically and sympathetically but his death was not a direct consequence of police action.

Therefore George Floyd and Henry Nowak’s cases have very little in common, apart from lack of sympathy from police officers and saying “I can’t breathe”.

Anyone who is truly outraged by Henry Nowak’s death would also have been outraged by George Floyd’s death.
Anyone who isn’t, doesn’t actually care about Henry Nowak’s death at all.

Absolutely. It’s quite chilling. It’s very hard to fight as I imagine this is an extremely long game on the part of the far right and their US/ russian masters.

Several of the first few posts on this thread were really chilling to see - definitely not from regular MNers. Total lack of any reasoning or understanding just “he’s right though” with nothing further.

I’m not saying I’m not angry about what happened to Henry Nowak. My post isn’t about how he was treated inhumanely by the police or how the police only listened to the murderer.

My OP is very specific but unfortunately many posters here haven’t bothered to read it.

We get your point. We just think it’s stupid and irrelevant.

I totally agree @Whereismyjoiedevivre

Yes it may be "semantics" to some, but it is the young man's name and to add 'fucking' in the middle of it is just disgusting and totally disrespectful.

TR showed a total lack of respect by not addressing Henry by his proper, given name. Nothing more was needed.

LittlePinkWeed · 04/06/2026 10:08

I get you OP. I agree that inserting the word 'fucking' into the middle of Henry's name was lacking respect for him.

I often feel uncomfortable in these situations where a high profile murder victim becomes a media frenzy with their photo splashed all over the place, CCTV footage of them scrutinised, and half the population having an opinion on a complete stranger's tragedy. To me it seems so intrusive, but then I'm a private person who doesn't live my normal life putting images of myself out there. But maybe if I were the victim I wouldn't care (although I wouldn't be aware of it, obviously).

In this case I think too much attention is being given to the police's actions, which is directing focus away from Digwa himself. He knew he had stabbed Henry but he stood there next to the police and didn't alert them to Henry's injuries. Utterly reprehensible.

Lovely kind tolerant left, in action. I saw it all over Charlie Kirk's murder. Rabid dogs spring to mind.

Believe what WE BELIEVE or you should die... eh ok...
left- OUR VIEWS ARE THE MOST VALID IF YOU DONT AGREE YOU ARE SO WRONG YET WE ARE SO LIBERAL. Irony

Mangelwurzelfortea · 04/06/2026 10:08

TR is utter scum and the events in Southampton are predictably disgraceful. What happened to Nowak was appalling, using it as an excuse for racism - which his family have said he'd hate in his name - is disgusting.
