To wonder why so many male migrants have committed sexual assaults:even if they are evil people, wouldn't staying in the UK be an incentive to abide by the law?

Jane379 · 03/06/2026 00:05

I KNOW that plenty of the men who come are not evil and don't want to commit sexual assault. But clearly a number who have come are, and there's strong evidence that male migrants are disproportionately lileky to do so.

This almost surely at least partly caused by misogynistic culture in various areas meaning back home they perceived uncovered women as permissible to assault. But surely they know it's different here? That they will likely be caught? They are at least more likely to be punished here for assault.

Or are they convinced our police system will let them off?

Or they're not aware our norms are different?

Or just don't care about the consequences?

I wonder also if criminals are in a sense selected for since they may have little to tie them to their home countries, or even be escaping punishment there.

Consent is taught extensively in schools

and those British teenage boys planned and executed multiple rapes and very nearly got away with it, if not for the public uproar.

It's commendable you are comfortable calling out those boys' culture. But why are you happy to do it for British travellers but not foreign ethnic groups?

HRTQueen · 04/06/2026 09:57

So you are saying that men coming from cultures where woman few rights, where a husband can legally rape (supported by religion) and beat his wife, where woman can not make every day decisions without her father or husbands consent magically leave behind these cultural norms when they come to the UK

no one is suggesting that men are not the issue, when you add in deep rooted misogyny you have further complexities to deal with along with the view many of these men will have of western woman being viewed as woman of loose morals

Men the world over have these views. They do not respect some women and not others...laughable to even suggest that those who hate women only hate western women and not their own!

Rape is virtually legal in the UK - 99% of rapists walk free. Bit like going 71mph when driving. It is not legal but you are unlikely to get done for it.

Deep rooted misogyny is a massive problem in the UK. That is why sexual assaults are so common and the norm.

Again. Per capita wise do you think there are more rapes in the west or in these 3rd world nations? Where do you feel safer, Krakow or Kabul?

Again do you think SAs are more common here in the west or in Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia etc?

Toops · 04/06/2026 11:45

Are people just ignoring the per capita data because we have white British rapists as well?

Probably the same the world over as all women have been sexually assaulted so I would say probably the norm the world over as it is here.

Living with a man is unsafe in any country...

90% of girls here are sexually assaulted in school....probably on a par with those countries...

Per captia here is 0.3.....showing it is the same regardless of ethnicity.

All have the same root cause....misogyny!

But women also commit sexual assault, therefore the offending rate is probably the same between men and women.

(Am I doing this right?)

give over rape is almost legal that is a ridiculously stupid statement to make, that rape and sexual assault is very hard to prosecute is an issue but it is against the law and we women can report our husbands for raping us and attitudes have changed significantly and still are though not quick enough

do you realise in many countries it actually isn't against the law for men to rape their wife/wives, as it was here until 1991

No one is denying that sexual assaults happen far too frequently and misogyny is not an issue in the UK, but we do have laws in place that allow us in law to be equal citizens I can report harassment and violence, I can choose how to dress, I can vote, I can make the choice to divorce, go on to further education, to work I can safely live on my own (crimes happen but it is a choice I can make, I can work or gain benefits and any harassment I can report to the police that is my right to make these choices) I have autonomy over my life

live in a country where you are not and you will soon appreciate how much better we have being female we have freedoms that woman and girls in many countries can only dream of

Where would you prefer to bring up dds @Samysungyhere or Afghanistan? If it’s all the same would you swap?

Neither as both places are controlling and abusive for females.

I also wouldn't like it here as women minimise sexual assaults here to play oppression monopoly like you just have...saying it isn't bad to be sexually abused here as women get sexually abused in another country....imagine saying that like you just did.

Yep. It’s always overlooked but really we need to not slip into everywhere’s the same.

If the pp were honest they would not want anything near what’s happening to girls in Sudan and Afghanistan to happen here.

(unless some bizarre cruelty, which most don’t have).

How it is illegal if you are almost certainly going to get away with it?

If ppl are not getting convicted for it and punished then it is almost legal....no?

For it to be illegal there has to be consequences.

Nope it is not hard to prosecute. It is a crime that has more evidence than most, most have a witness.

The reason it is not prosecuted is that the CPS let the rapists off on purpose to fudge their conviction rates...

Due to misogyny!

You are the one overlooking how females are treated here.

Saying it is not bad for little girls to be sexually assaulted in schools and saying it isn't that bad.....

Because others in another country have other things happen to them!

Unfortunately many sections of the travelling community seem to have misogynistic mores, high DV etc. The current situation with both traveller girls & boys often being withdrawn early from school must be stopped.

This exactly!

I understand why a lot of feminists including some on here argue that in practice rape is legal in the UK as conviction rates are so low.

This is actually another topic I'd like to do a thread on. I personally think that it's unlikely the UK is a more sexist country than France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc What I DO think is that because the UK adopted consent based rape laws before a lot of other countries this may affect stats, as other countries may still be using a higher bar to prosecute whereby force or threat have to be proved, rather than just absence of consent. The UK may have lower conviction rates partly because we're more willing to at least try to try cases which don't involve physical force or threat.

All the talk about 'bringing their female relatives later' in regard to single Afghan men. No, their female relatives will be dead in the time it takes them to get to the UK. Any man leaving his female relatives in Afghanistan is saying loudly and clearly he doesn't care if they die. Women only have any hope of surviving in Afghanistan if they have male relatives THERE to support and help them.

A lot of Afghan families are large though, or certainly larger than here. I suspect a lot of the men will have brothers and fathers left behind who will act as guardians.

Of course it is illegal everyone who is raped has the right to report the rape to the police and it has to be investigated - that is the law

That we still need to greatly improve how sexual violence is dealt with by the police, dealt with by the courts and attidues is different

do you think this is the case for woman in Afghanistan or many other middle eastern countries

Rape is not as common in the UK as in countries like Sudan & Somalia etc. You're muddying the waters by talking about sexual assault which could be groping etc as well as rape.

Groping & other types of sexual assault are awful but they are not as bad as rape.

I very much doubt 90% of teen girls are raped in school. Groped, maybe
