To think no one in the world is actually a 34C?

I have read a million threads here about people being in the wrong bra size. At 60 years old after 4 pregnancies, 4 years of breastfeeding, weight gain, weight loss and menopause I decided I needed to get fitted. I was wearing at 38E (I have big boobs) came out a 34H 🤯🤯🤯. If someone said to me before that I was a H cup I would have cried but guess what, my size 14 dress fits perfectly. It’s apparently ok to have H boobs 😲. I’m officially mind blown. Go get yourself measured

34 JJ pre reduction. Bang on 34 C after. Just gone up to a D after meno weight gain after 30 odd years at that size.

I was 34c pre-ds. Then took up running and martial arts, my rib cage expanded but my boobs did not so now a 36b.

I think if you read the thread the point is quite clear, most of us are wearing the wrong size and the size that for donkeys years seemed to be the average is actually quite unusual. I am aware people come in different sizes, but thank you for clarifying

I wore 34C when younger. Now wear 32E. My boobs grew in pregnancy/breastfeeding but I also put on weight and my chest/ribs expanded slightly, so I probably should have been wearing 32D before.

It does vary a bit by brand though. I tried on 1 bra and needed a 34 in that. I have also realised I need it to feel tight in the changing room so it still fits when it has stretched slightly. I also used to think the straps held up your boobs, when actually the band does most of the work.

I would have given anything to be a 36B in the 60s and early 70s - I had always despaired of my 34As.
It wasn’t until I had dd1 and realised how bigger boobs turn into hot concrete footballs after having a baby, that I counted myself lucky.

I wear a 36 A , although possibly should wear 34 A or B but find that a little tight. Even when pregnant, didn’t go up a breast size, and nursing bras were too big for me.

I’m a 32C. Edit to add that I am 49 and had one child.

E.g. I just measured my underbust and it's exactly 34

But how do you account for breathing? I am 30.5in after breathing out, and 33 after breathing in.

Does your bra still fit you as you breathe in and out?

I am! Have recently been measured too and am a 34C.

M&S measured me as 40C and I wore that size for years. Then I measured myself and started wearing 36GG instead!

I’m guilty of this.

Last time I was measured I was a 28F apparently, but I hated how the wire cut in, it felt tight and uncomfortable and I strongly suspect they measured wrong.

I’m ND and have real sensory issues around underwear so I wear a 34C for comfort, although most of the time I wear cotton non underwired bras anyway. I think in reality I’m probably a 30DD but it’s not the easiest size to find and I’m scared I’ll hate it again!

Don't wear a bra then? 🤷‍♀️

Brastop do that size and have really easy returns if you wanted to try

Im currently in a correctly fitted 34KK.
Impossible to find, I have to go to bravissimo to get them, which means an hour plus drive each time I need a bra. So I buy 2 bras and just rotate those two until the elastic is worn and still keep them because they’re over £100 at that size.

I was a 34B at 14 in the late 70s. I stayed that size until I had my DC, bless their cotton socks.

I'm always intrigued about the attitude to sizes on Mumsnet. Clothes tend to be made with more ease now but that's very wrong and vanity sizing and catering to wicked fatties. However the fact we all used to be a C cup but now all wear F as a minimum is not vanity sizing.

I'm fine with both by the way but why is bra sizing allowed to evolve but not other clothes?

Boux Avenue is good for small back sizes, they have loads in a 30E

I used to be a 34C until I had kids.

I used to see lots of women in bras in my former working life and saw so so many in the wrong size. Normally too big a band and breasts spilling out of the cups. When you try on bras, breasts should sit nicely in the cup not bulge out over the sides and top-and even bottom in some cases.

I’m 34F - I was hoping they’d shrink in my fifties but no such luck. I used Bravissimo years ago & there’s not much difference in the size they said I was to the size I buy from elsewhere years later. I only wear them for work or if I’m going out, I hate bras & have wasted a fortune over the years trying to get something that fits properly and is comfortable at the same time x

I wonder if that's why the tiny 50s stars were said to be 36, 24, 36. I always thought it odd that so many of today's women when we are generally much larger, somehow have smaller rib cages.
