To think no one in the world is actually a 34C?

I have read a million threads here about people being in the wrong bra size. At 60 years old after 4 pregnancies, 4 years of breastfeeding, weight gain, weight loss and menopause I decided I needed to get fitted. I was wearing at 38E (I have big boobs) came out a 34H 🤯🤯🤯. If someone said to me before that I was a H cup I would have cried but guess what, my size 14 dress fits perfectly. It’s apparently ok to have H boobs 😲. I’m officially mind blown. Go get yourself measured

Beaux Avenue have mannequins with tiny backs and large breasts. No idea what size they go up to but maybe worth a look as well as Bravissimo?

Why are larger bras so expensive though? I'm looking at £35+.

ToffeeCrabApple · Yesterday 23:48

I dont understand the tiny band thing. I tried gettimg one of those measurements and found it horribly tight, far too uncomfortable to actually wear, I could hardly breathe and it dug into my fat.

I just keep on wearing a 36DD and im much comfier.

Where are you all getting measured? We don’t have an M&S anymore where I live but sounds like it wouldn’t be the best anyway. Small independent shops?
Sincerely,
36DD

Just measure yourself. It is very simple. Underbust measurement. Then fullest part of bust. 1 inch = a cup size so 34 under bust with 39 on fullest part would give you a 34E

My boobs are quite soft. How firmly should the tape sit on the fullest part?

It sould be sitting around the bust so that it isnt loose but not digging in and squashing either.

The media spends so much time going on about stuff like Katie price being a “34DD” when in reality she’s probably a 26K
this pic is all D cups

1000StrawberryLolliesandPrincessofLichtenstein · Yesterday 23:58

I’m 40B it’s hard to find this many places. 38B literally won’t fasten on me and with 38C or any C really, the cups are like two empty sacks.

Tortoisel · Yesterday 23:58

My boobs deflated after children. But my ribs expanded. I can’t actually find a bra which is comfortable. From a 32 I am so far up to trying 38s. Still horrendous. So I am going to guess I am a 42 -AAAAA

Sorry to be pedantic, but Page 3 girls were all natural - I was one many many moons ago xx

Yes I seem to remember you had to have natural boobs to be a page 3 girl..

I used to be a 34C in my teens and early 20’s. Am now 34 G

What an odd thread. Why would ‘nobody’ be a 34C, as one of the standard range of sizes many of us are.

Using the ‘plus four’ measuring system I’m usually a 34C, I occasionally take myself in hand and manage to lose half a stone or so and I have a couple of 34B bras that I can then wear. I’ve not been anything other than those two sizes since my early twenties and I’m 55 now.

I wear Lemorosy Bras from Amazon. I think they are fantastic, and most of them come in a 40B.

They use the ‘plus four’ measuring system and following the instructions and sizing chart carefully I came out at the mythical 34C and I was sceptical but it was correct and I’m so happy.

Never been measured professionally. Self measuring, under bust is 32", fullest bust is 36", basically small and perky. My preferred size is 36A balconette style. I used to wear 34B but they are too tight around my chest. I don't need scaffolding or a tight chest strap.

Ladamesansmerci · Today 00:16

Yeah I got measured and was a 36GG, was convinced I was a D cup before that 🙈

ScruffMuffin · Today 00:28

An A cup means your boobs measure one inch more than your underboob measurement, so isn't really common at all. It used to be a 5 or 6 inch difference, with the outdated +4/5.

M&S tried to tell me I was a 34-and-no-cup-size when I was in my early 20s, which clearly wasn't accurate - measurements were 30 and 33. Now I know that is actually a 30C. It's a long time since I was that size though!

ScruffMuffin · Today 00:29

@yellowbikini try a 32D. The band won't be unduly tight because your boobs won't have to borrow from the band in this cup size.

ScruffMuffin · Today 00:32

I had a friend who lost weight and thought her boobs had disappeared. She was a 46DD before, and thought she had gone down to a B cup. After she sent me her measurements, I fitted her with a 42DD and she said it was the best support her girls had ever had. :)

That would make you a 32D.

MyDuvetDay · Today 00:50

This is my size. I’m not sure what point you’re making OP. People have different body shapes…

Stepsisterfromhell · Today 00:57

36C all my life. 3 kids, all breastfed. Same dimensions just droopier.

Bravissimo tried to persuade me I was a 32D not a 36B. However they put me in something so uncomfortable I couldn’t breathe so I stuck with the 36B option.

And if you decided to compromise, you'd be a 34C. You are the OP's unicorn!

I've just looked at this - I'm confused!

PPs seem to be saying that 32" under bust and 36" over = 32D, that's the band size and a letter per inch for the cup size.

The Lemorosy chart says 32" band and 36" bust = 36A.

I think most UK bras are sized like the Lemorosy chart (ie, confusing) but is it any wonder we're all wearing the wrong sizes??

Yeah plus 4 is wrong
if you are a 32 waist, why would you wear a 36 waist basically
most women are wearing bras way too small in the cup and too big in the back
People think these bras are a good fit

This is a really good example - 38B to a 32F

Thanks, @practicalmagictime but I still don't get it?

They're making a bra with a 32" band and a 36" bust, they call it 36A. It would be 32D by logical sizing.

But if you bought a 32D from them, you'd get a 28" band with 35" bust.

How are we supposed to know what system a manufacturer uses? They don't all publish charts ...

Have you measured under your bust? That should be your band size.

E.g. I just measured my underbust and it's exactly 34". My bras are all 34something (the cup size varies according to style and brand). I just gave one of my bras a firm but not super hard stretch and measured the band, it was 35" which accounts for the flappy bit at the end of the clasp. This all seems very common sense to me.

I can wear a 36" or even 38" bra with smaller cup sizes and it will go on OK but the overall effect is nowhere near as supportive or flattering.

If your 32D felt too tight, it was in fact too small (in either band or cup) or just very stiff new elastic that would have settled with some wear. You could whip out the tape measure and clear that up pretty quickly.
