To think no one in the world is actually a 34C?

I have read a million threads here about people being in the wrong bra size. At 60 years old after 4 pregnancies, 4 years of breastfeeding, weight gain, weight loss and menopause I decided I needed to get fitted. I was wearing at 38E (I have big boobs) came out a 34H 🤯🤯🤯. If someone said to me before that I was a H cup I would have cried but guess what, my size 14 dress fits perfectly. It’s apparently ok to have H boobs 😲. I’m officially mind blown. Go get yourself measured

I was a 32C for years, my boobs stayed bigger after breastfeeding and I have stayed a 32DD ever since.

My DD is a little tiny thing. We were all surprised when she measured as a 30E. Have you ever tried getting 30E bras?

30E is easy! I’m a 34L

Everyone was a 36B in the seventies lol - except they weren't!

I was 36B in the 90s but I probably wasn’t. Before that I wore 34C because everyone was 34C! No idea why I thought 36B fit better because I was a size 8-10
Now I’m 32GG at 50

I was a 34c for a really long time. 32dd now after kids.

why would you think that nobody else is because you’re not?

Same as this

Twodogsonthecouch · Yesterday 23:16

Yes, the measuring and adding 4 inches thing definitely had a lot of women in the wrong size. I would have thought a H cup was really really big (page 3 surgically enhanced type big) and obviously I have large boobs, but I still look completely normal yet am wearing a H cup, mind boggling 😂

Bravissimo tried to persuade me I was a 32D not a 36B. However they put me in something so uncomfortable I couldn’t breathe so I stuck with the 36B option.

When I was young, in my teens and early twenties (so forty years ago), I kept going up a band size as my boobs got bigger so ended up a 36C. I was forever tugging at the band and straps to try and hoik everything up. It got a bit better when I started wearing a 34D a few years later. It wasn’t until getting fitted for nursing bras in Peter Jones that I was told I had a ‘tiny’ (30) back. I think my early nursing bras were a K or L but now I wear a 32H and have finally found a style that suits and doesn’t cut into my shoulders. A bra fitter once told me it’s quite rare for a woman’s ribcage to measure much above 34, assuming she’s of average weight.

I was a 30E until menopause. Now I am a 32FlippingHuge.
30E was easy.

I was measured last year at 30K. I measured this year at 28J.
I actually measured at a 28 when I was a size 6, and still do at a size 12.

It's because you have a small ribcage. The cup size is just the difference between that and the fullest part of your breasts.

SusanSometimes · Yesterday 23:30

I'm 34H but I'm tall with broad shoulders so you'd never guess I'm that size. I couldn't believe it when I realised I wasn't actually a 36D. I suspect I might go down another band size when I've finished the weight loss journey I'm currently on.

Sorry to be pedantic, but Page 3 girls were all natural - I was one many many moons ago xx

I'm a 34D and a size 10/12 and according to Mumsnet that's impossible 😂

Where are you all getting measured? We don’t have an M&S anymore where I live but sounds like it wouldn’t be the best anyway. Small independent shops?
Sincerely,
36DD

When I was growing up in the 80s I seem to remember a D cup was seen as massive...

JunesDunes · Yesterday 23:38

34HH. I was wearing a 36D and thought it was ok until I tried on a bra that actually fitted. Oddly I fall out of balconette bras now though which makes me sad as I like that shape and wore them all the time when I was in 36D.

It makes me laugh when men are all like DD are huge. Not unless you have a 28 back or something.

Even worse trying to get a 30GG. Can only get a decent one from Bravissimo.

So many questions! Please do an AMA!
Unless you are Katie Price in which case, please DONT do an AMA for your own mental health.

I wear a 38C but I've never been formally measured so I thought I'd give it a go, according to the tape measure I should be wearing a 38E! I've looked at 38E bras and I wouldn't fill the cup....they're massive, I'll stick to being a C for now!

rainbowunicorn · Yesterday 23:43

pickalillyspooon · Yesterday 22:38

I see what you mean, OP.

34C used to just be a “standard size”.

but everyone these days seems to be back size 28, 30, 32, even people who I wouldn’t have thought look like they have a narrow back. And the cup sizes all seem to be much bigger; E, F, G, H etc.

Back in the day DD was seen as “big”, and it just isn’t now.

I’m not sure what’s changed. I’m guessing the sizing / measuring technique as opposed to women’s bodies.

The old way of measuring was to add 4 inches to your undercut measurement. So if you measured 32 undercut it would have been a 36. This would make the cup size smaller. Now it would be a 32 band with a larger cup.

soundsys · Yesterday 23:43

I would agree! I wore a 34C for years when I was younger (before I got measured properly!) and in hindsight I definitely wasn’t a 34 anything! I think I went from wearing a 34C to being a 30E or something mad 🤣

If you go up a band size, you go down a cup size and vice versa. It's about the way the cup is shaped.
The 28 is the size of your rib cage which doesn't change much.
Bras are meant to be quite tight.
