Do you pack your husband’s bag when he goes away..?

Was chatting to a friend of a friend the other day. She was having a moan about her useless husband. In the course of this moan she mentioned that she’d had to pack his bag for a work trip. Just breezed past it as if it was the most normal thing. I was like wait…why are you packing his bag for him?? She huffs and puffs about “oh he won’t do it properly” or some shit. Didn’t really have much of an answer.

Mentioned this exchange at work. Seems this is not particularly uncommon. Had women moaning about having to do “all the packing for everyone” for family holidays etc.

i am quite baffled by this. Why are some women packing their husbands bags for them..? If nothing else, my husband wouldn’t want me to pack his bag for him. Being a grown adult he’d rather choose his own clothes.

Some men are absolutely fucking useless but my god, some women really don’t help themselves…

No way! Why would I pack the bag of a grown man?!

PussInBin20 · 01/06/2026 23:57

Noooooo, I’m not his Mother so why would any woman do that? So what if he doesn’t do it properly(whatever that means). It’s his trip/bag so surely he knows what he wants to pack?

CountryGirlInTheCity · 01/06/2026 23:59

No! He has a list and a system and I have nothing h to do with it!

Penkie · 01/06/2026 23:59

Sort of/not.
He chooses the stuff, I pack it flat (shirts especially) because he'd stuff it all in with no care.

Brenzaida · 01/06/2026 23:59

No. He has arms. Also, I avoid marrying incompetents.

FruitFlyPie · Yesterday 00:00

How would I know what he wanted to bring, or where those items were?

But so what? He’s the one who’s going to have to iron it again at the other end.

But why do you care if he packs it with no care? Its his stuff not yours!

No i dont and I wont pack for my older kids either. if they forget something importan or all their clothes are creased its their problem.

Magnalux · Yesterday 00:02

No it wouldn’t cross my mind but I do know it happens more than you would think with people. I was shocked to learn it was a thing!!

backinthebox · Yesterday 00:03

I work in the travel industry. 94% of people doing my job are men. I have NEVER worked with one of them who’s admitted to letting his wife pack for him. Even my teenage son has been packing his own bags for years.

If we're going on a family holiday where we're sharing a suitcase then we both put our own stuff on the bed and one person is in charge of organising it into a suitcase. Could be me, could be him, I don't pick things up with my boobs so there's no reason a man couldn't do it.

Otherwise everyone packs their own bag. Massive ick for men who "can't do this".

Because I've ironed them at the first end and it would irritate me to see them wrecked before he left!

After that he can look after them himself.

But but but why have you ironed them?!

Are you talking about when you share a case and he messes up your stuff or when he has his own case?

Either way, if he crumples it in his own case, well then he will walk around looking crumpled and that’s up to him..and if he’s stuffing it into your case you need to tell him to do it properly and stop being so thoughtless.

I stopped packing my DS’s stuff when he was a teenager because he needed to learn how to do it himself. Along with many other things! His now DW is very thankful that she has a husband who isn’t a manchild.

Your husband is perfectly capable of packing a case properly.

Dancingsquirrels · Yesterday 00:07

No way would I do that. Thank goodness I married a functioning adult

😂
I like precision ironing!!!!

Rookie93 · Yesterday 00:07

If we're sharing a bag then OH sorts out what he wants to take and I pack for us both. If we have separate suitcases he packs for himself.

SunnySunnyDayz · Yesterday 00:07

When we go away together yes because I distribute everyone's stuff between all cases so we still have something to wear if one goes missing.

On his own, it wouldn't even occur to me. He's shit and will be pulling stuff out of the dirty laundry that he wants to take with him at midnight but that's his issue.

ItTook9Years · Yesterday 00:13

In 25 years I’ve never washed, ironed or packed DH’s clothes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wednesdaysotherchild · Yesterday 00:14

No way! He does all his own laundry & packing. I’m not his servant & he’s far better at packing than I am…

Well, don’t iron them in the first place, obviously?

Cheeseandolivesplease · Yesterday 00:15

Only if I was kicking him out 😄

TheSmallAssassin · Yesterday 00:21

We all pack for ourselves here, though my husband's the one who usually makes sure we've washed all the clothes we want to take in time. I was only telling him this weekend how attractive I found his competence 😁

I don't pick things up with my boobs

This should be a t-shirt slogan.

GaurdRails · Yesterday 00:23

God no 🤣 But I know men at work whose wives pack their bags, make them packed lunch. And these women have their own jobs! Insanity.
