Do I dress like an old lady? I’m 42 and yes I’m aware I need a new bra and I have a fitting for one next week

OP posts:

Hope not I’ve just spent £200 on two of those dresses from Nobodies Child!

I think many posters, and the OP’s friend have failed to notice that every clothes shop/website has that style this year.

The deleted post was quite shocking. @SixtySomething is being extremely disingenuous to claim they don’t know why it was deleted.

In fact I’m not being disingenuous. I simply found that the picture didn’t sit well with me and I suppose I can’t say more than that.
I certainly didn’t mean to shock or offend anyone.
I guess that with a user name like OP’s they’re unlikely to be overly sensitive.
IMO , if one posts a selfie online and asks for opinions, one must be prepared for all comers.
It was genuinely important to me to say what I said ‘cos that was how I saw it.
I could of course say a great deal more,

Look Good.

OP you have a great figure! I’m jealous of your slim arms and lack of chub poking out under your arms- I have after arms, weird side boob/fat/back and smaller boobs! And bigger hips/tummy.

Not since about 1950!

What’s a typical ‘old lady’ style then?

Lifestooshort71 · 31/05/2026 22:15

You've got a lovely figure but I don't think the dress does you justice - perhaps the colour is just a bit dismal. I'm mid-70s and don't mind comments about what old ladies wear, I found my style in my early 50s and just tweak it a bit when I see a new trend I like. Mind you, my feet have to be comfy nowadays - praps that's an old lady thing!

Well around here (Scotland) the vast majority of women over about 70 wear jeans or cotton trousers and a floral long or short sleeved t shirt with flat sneaker type shoes. Padded vests or thin, shiny puffer jackets seem to have replaced fleeces in recent years.
