Those Norwegian socks
Purdy and Fig (caught me on one of those bloody automatic subscriptions too so I paid twice!)
The singing cactus toy! (Although I still think its funny 😂)

Oh, we are all capable of being seduced by heatless-curl methods. I mean, who doesn't want heatless curls? That's the Holy Grail! I wouldn't feel sheepish about that one. It's like offering a dog steak and expecting it to say no.

I agree, but so so uncomfortable! I actually found after buyer the think that a pair of Childs leggings works the best! Legs round your hair, then flip over the crotch to make a little sleep hat 😂🤷‍♀️

I genuinely love my nordic socks, I don't understand the hate 🤔
I wear them all through winter.

Anyone here 15+ years ago might remember the mumsnet scarf?

I have trip drinks coming with my Tesco order this morning. They are all over my TikTok. I also bought the garnier tinted sunscreen. The glow one and that is now a repeat purchase now. I also bought some plastic flowers for my garden. Anyone who knows me knows I hate plastic tat but I cannot keep flowers alive. These are really good so I bought some more.

I am extremely easily influenced with skincare. Trying hard not to be after wasting £££ over the years.

That whizzy top shower cleaner is the worst most useless thing I’ve ever bought!

For me it was the dancing coke can wearing sunglasses back in the 80s! Everyone got one!
I fell for the Crimpet, absolutely bloody useless, too small for a normal wrap and I seemed to end up with 2! Gave one away and can honestly say, we both have them in the drawer and don't use them!
Fell for Method Rhubarb antibac spray, then realised less than a quarter of a way in I hated the smell!
I'm an advertisers dream, so no doubt I'll think of more! 🤣

Yes my whole family now have Crimpets in the drawer unused 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Greengage1983 · Today 08:04

Am I the only one who likes Purdy and Figg..? I think it cleans well, I love the scents, and - crucially - it makes me feel like I'm treating myself by cleaning, which makes me actually do it 😳
(I did buy it on special offer and cancel the recurring subscription straight away though).

Oooo! I keep seeing adverts for them and wondered if they're worth the hype?!

They’re not! Horrible misshapen after first wash though I admit I put through machine rather than hand wash. Mine went in the bin!

I like my crimpit though I will admit I haven't used it for a while! I also really love the method rhubarb scent!

I'm glad people are saying Tallow and Ash laundry range isn't worth the money, I'm very tempted by that at the moment.

I also got influenced into Ella and I gel melts but these were a success, I love them. Coconut and sandalwood makes my house smell like holiday.

sunnydisaster · Today 08:08

I second the steam mop - absolute shite!

SpiralSister · Today 08:08

Nordic socks are very good. I have repeat bought and bought for DD too. There is a scam looky likey company that pops up on FB, I think that is where they are getting a bad rep from.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · Today 08:08

I fell for an ‘amazing’ garlic press. Tried it just once, straight in the bin, back to Old Faithful.

Luckily it was IIRC under £10.

I bought Skin & Me - where they make a skin formula specifically for you. Burned my skin. Straight in the bin.

I’ve also bought a vibration plate. I’ve only used it once because it feels weird.

I am looking at the vibration plate right now. Its under the sofa opposite me. Has been there for about 2 years. Used about 3 times.

Oh and Cornish seaweed company shampoo and conditioner. Made me hair sticky and limp and did nothing for the shedding. They recommend persevering over several weeks to adjust which i tried but it was becoming unbearable - to be fair to them they did refund me beyond the usual period.

Yes, me too. But I couldn't persevere like they suggested. My hair looked so limp, greasy and awful. I considered just using the conditioner because it smells so nice, but it is so thick it didn't come out of the bottle. Waste of money. And disappointing!

Oh god, we fell for the Spanish terracotta grating plates at a local food fair. Paid about £12 for a small one

a) they just get all the garlic/veg trapped in the gratey bits and also grate your knuckles
b) we then found them for about a euro each in Spain anyway

Its at the back of the cupboard.

I bought the original crimpit ( for sandwich thins, not the wrap one) maybe 2 years ago and use it almost daily! Bloody love it 😆

Halara leggings (good)
Halara dress (bad)
Dermatica skincare (fooking amazing)

Now I really want the dermatica skincare. I have a lot of pigmentation and the before and afters on their website look amazing!

The weighed hula hoop thing that you shimmy around in and whittle your waist down!
It was a bit of fun for the kids for a while I suppose.

Slightyamusedandsilly · Today 08:19

A few, which surprises me because I'm not usually a faddy person.

  • Air fryer. Resisted for years. Have one now, use it several times daily.
  • Ice cream maker. LOVE it and it's super easy to use, but haven't had time lately.
  • Sandwich toaster. Wanted one for years. Eventually got it in a sale. Used it once.
  • Apple products. Liked my iPads but too expensive. Macs, had a few varieties. Not impressed. iPhone. Eventually got one. Prefer Android. Won't bother with Apple again.
  • Uniqlo. Didn't want to fall for the hype until I went into an actual in-real-life shop and get it now. Although I still don't like the majority of their stuff, the bits I DO like are great and super good value.

I'm up for Halara, face/neck creams that actually work. But don't believe they'll be worth the hype.

PorkPieForStarters · Today 08:22

Il Makiage. Did the quiz for foundation, specifically answered the question about finish saying I wanted a dewy finish, they sent me matte foundation and the colour wasn't quite right and after many, many rounds of trying to speak to their chatbot (or just shit) customer service, I eventually discovered that they don't even sell the dewy one to the UK market. Managed to send it back (another palaver as I don't have a printer) and the subscription does seem to have been cancelled, but am still getting marketing emails.

I will say that he waterproof eyeliner pen that came free with it was very waterproof, though weirdly shiny when dry so looks a bit odd.

Totally agree about the steam cleaner - rubbish!

Robot vacuum cleaner - not worth the money, got caught up on chairs in the kitchen, didn't clean the carpets well - threw away.

Karcher window cleaner - too difficult to do a good job - just get a proper human window cleaner to do them now!

Ice cream maker - far too much fuss having to prepare the mixture, remember to put the bowl in the freezer, wait for ages for it to actually freeze. Gave away to neighbour.

Swing hammock - wanted one for ages - finally got it and just didn't get on with it at all. Gave away to neighbour too!

AsTreesWalking · Today 08:24

I love WhoGivesACrap toilet paper! Agree about steam cleaners.
My worst buy was those little metal hair sl8des that supposedly hold any kind of hair in place abd look chic. Ha! I have thick curls and they fell out immediately.

Anjelika · Today 08:28

I have almost bought the Halara jeans, Crimpet and Il Makiage several times but managed to resist. However I have a fine collection of serums that supposedly reduce age spots and in truth not one has made a jot of difference. I am being tempted daily by one on Amazon that is supposed to REALLY work and can see myself succumbing one day soon.

Slightyamusedandsilly · Today 08:29

Oh yes! Had a spiralizer. Loved it while I was on a diet and could use my pasta recipes without the carbs.

Nothavingfunrightnow · Today 08:30

Gua sha, anyone?

Ah I love my ice cream maker. Use the most basic recipe I ever found and just vary it by flavour. If you eat it straight away it has the most gorgeous Mr Whippy texture. Not as keen once it's been stored in the freezer.
