No collagen powder

I was nearly caught out. Realised at the last minute that it was a recurring charge and didn't put it through.

I've managed to unsubscribe from the emails, but keep getting texts.

Vaguely remember my Granny had heatless curl thing. Pink foam with bendy wire in them and some setting lotion. I was desperate to try them, probably 5 year old, didn't get a wink of sleep that night and they didn't work as Granny didn't want to waste her setting lotion on a kid 🤣.

Used them when I was a student. They kept falling out.

MN made me buy that bloody waitrose bottom butter that went viral. Greasy goop that it was, no way would I have put it on my face like they all raved about. It barely made it onto DCs bum before I heaved the tub in the bin and went back to bepanthen .

Can anyone please share a link or shop that they’d recommend for the best Nordic socks? I have cold feet even in a heatwave and have a hot water bottle every night on them, even with a fan on the rest of me! Much appreciated 😃

Raynauds? I swear by cashmere socks in bed! Got mine from Turtle Doves when they were in the sale - warm feet all night!

I really like it in my porridge or Greek yoghurt. Jury is out on whether my skin is any better for it but I can hope

the spiraliser. Courgette is still courgette when it’s twirly!

I still use mine. It’s brilliant for shredding carrots quickly.

Happyjoe · Today 00:58

Not influenced per say, but thought air fryers looked handy and bought the ninja one. M&S skinny fries in there though - gorgeous and worth it for those alone when need a comfort food day.

Would never buy a spiraliser. I've been making courgette and carrot pasta for about 30 years using my potato peeler. I still kick myself for not turning it into a fad!

im about to be influenced - the Halara shorts! Does someone need to stop me?

I adore Halara’s products and usually bulk buy once every couple of years. I live in their cargo leggings, and now it’s hot am wearing their tennis dresses (I have them in four different colours). The built in pants (with pockets!) and bra make them a game changer for this weather. I’m also very short, so their petite sizes are great for my stumpy legs. The stuff is really well made - no cheap material or dodgy stitching. The only thing against them is the returns process can be frustrating (but not impossible).

Dyson Airstrait. Bought it a year ago, loved it at first but it takes ages longer to dry my hair than to just use my hair dryer and then finish it off with straighteners.

Up Circle eye cream. Made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Wild/Fussy/MakeWaves deodorants. I’ve had subscriptions to all of them.

Silk hair bonnet. Wore it about twice before realising how uncomfortable I was sleeping with something on my head and hair up.

Carpet cleaning gadget, like a metal triangle with a handle that you pull across the carpet and it gets up all the fluff and pet hair. Turns out it does remove all that, but it also removes half your carpet fibres. Oh and you actually have to use it for it to do anything, rather than just chuck it in a cupboard. Why I thought I'd be spending my evenings carpet scraping I don't know.

I got the carpet thing too. Used it once or twice but found it quite satisfying!

Breville Sandwich Toaster anyone? I still have the scar from the only molten hot cheese toasted sandwich I ever made in it (around 1981?) found the bloody thing in the 2004 house move!
Steam cleaner was crap
Tubing mascara works for me!
A car polisher DH bought for me… so bloody heavy, I couldn’t lift it.
I suspect there are more bits of junk in the cupboards here…

Diabetic neuropathy ☹️ I know hot water bottles aren’t recommended but I’d freeze and never sleep without! I’ll have a look for cashmere socks (any recommendations?)

Sorry, don’t want to derail your thread OP, just would love warm feet and Nordic socks sound great!

I bought that Glassguare squiggly mould remover gel that promises to remove mould from your front loader seal like a dream… and by god, it did! Love it and use it to get rid of pesky mould in silicone seals everywhere.

The matching shower glass cleaner was a waste of money!

Nida (Korean skincare) tranexamic acid with alpha arbutin made my skin much smoother and massively reduced hyperpigmentation. I have very pale skin already and it made it even paler, so that might not suit everyone but I like it.

Shithotlawyer · Today 01:48

Huel.

That is all.

likewhatyoudo · Today 01:49

Purdy and Fig —- biggest con.

FriendlyMedusa · Today 01:52

Kind of love this thread for de-influencing me so, thanks OP!

The good:
The Ordinary daily set (the only face wash to ever not just dry me out)

The bad:
Any jelly bra or non-wired "comfort" bra that comes from China. Just because it holds a carefully placed melon in an instagram reel up, does not mean it holds my saggy J-cup whatsoever.

The ugly:
Huel. The drink powder/meal replacement tastes bearable but made me extremely, like, seriously unfunny amounts of windy. The actual "food" ones that you just add water to (e.g. mac and cheese, curry) were so vile I couldn't finish a single portion.

BurntBroccoli · Today 02:10

The silicone lids and the silicone air fryer liner. All stain badly and seem grubby even after putting through the dishwasher.

They also feel slimy and weird!

montysmaw · Today 02:13

I need to know what a whizzy top shower thingy is. I think i want one.

I don't know if it's my body shape or something but I bought Halara work trousers in my usual size and they're huge (very comfy but aren't flattering) so I sized down for the workout leggings and they didn't fit. So essentially have three pairs of trousers now that don't fit!

Hiddeninthetrees · Today 02:21

Years ago I bought a NoNo, the noise and smell made my cat wee herself and it didnt even remove any hairs. What a waste of money that was!

I have the Halara Jeans - they are fantastic! I’m about to buy another pair!

LemonPenguin · Today 04:19

A hair towel that was supposed to dry my hair at record speed (it didn’t, it was just a thin, expensive towel). Magnetic lashes. I also fell for purdy and figg- even after reading so many negative reviews I couldn’t resist trying it, never again!

SapphireSeptember · Today 04:20

I was influenced by Kelli Marissa into buying nail polish, the ILNP Harvest collection, the Orly In The Spirit collection, (both back in 2022) and KB Shimmer Constellation Prize (more recently.) All bloody gorgeous colours and started my love affair with Orly and ILNP. I saw those colours and I had to have them.

ILNP Harvest collection.

Orly In The Spirit collection.

KB Shimmer Constellation Prize.

I suppose I also got influenced into buying Holo Taco as they were founded by a YouTuber who I've been watching for years.
