To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

YABVVU. Arsenal have won the Champions' League - for the first time in 22 years. It's a massive thing for the club, the players and their supporters.

They haven’t, it’s not played until next Saturday

Yes. I'm aware, having lived in central London since 1992. And in this house for 16 years.

So why choose to live somewhere that gets super busy?

I live in Kent but I have just returned from visiting relatives who live in North London .
So many Arsenal supporters having fun and enjoying the sunshine .
They are a bit noisy but it is a time for celebration

Absolutely agree…god forbid that people are celebrating ( says a Mum of two Arsenal supporters) Am so happy,22 years waiting 🎊🎉

Do you really not know the difference between busy and antisocial?

No, people do have power over things like this - not always direct power, but it’s possible. I cant explain social machinations on an iPhone though.

Oh No, pleeease don’t explain Social Machinations to a thick person like me… especially not on an iPhone😱

The very best of luck trying to stop the parade next weekend… I mean, you won’t have direct power of course but I’m sure you’ll do your best!!

ConverselyAttired · 24/05/2026 22:17

I was going to say YANBU because the football was awful and I keep seeing Facebook posts saying delulu things like "Mikel Arteta is the first manager to beat Pep Guardiola to the title with more than 4 players in orange boots" but I see that isn't the point of the thread.

metellaestinatrio · 24/05/2026 22:19

Agree - I was trying to get along Blackstock Road with my kids earlier and the crowds of (virtually all) men, pissed up even though it was only early afternoon, shouting and chanting and not letting people pass through were pretty intimidating. My kids were a bit frightened. On the way home later - people pissing in the streets, clearly on drugs, half naked, hanging out of cars, shouting in the faces of innocent passers by.

I think we are going to go away next weekend. This is normally a nice residential area. We’ve lived here a long time and are used to putting up with the football (and accept it as part of the area) but this week has been ridiculous. So much anti-social behaviour and mess. Loads of police lining the roads. All this because some grown men can’t celebrate something without making twats of themselves.

try being in Glasgow with the Celtic celebrations. Absolute carnage. But nobody died as far as I’m aware so that’s a bonus.

Hail hail - mon the hoops!

Weigh up the pros and cons. I'd imagine the pros outweigh the cons, or you'd move somewhere quieter.

Yep. But you live in the middle of a huge city with lots of events and are complaining about it. Maybe a rural village would work better

CharlieEffie · 24/05/2026 22:21

Confuserr · 24/05/2026 20:57

That's awful but that is 100% to do with your husband being a massive arsehole and in no way the fault of arsenal, arsenal fans, or the premier league competition.

Thats nothing to do with arsenal and everything to do with your (should be ex) husband being an absolute arse hole

This is not an event though, it’s a bunch of yobs drinking and being aggressive in the street, pissing where they want and leaving rubbish everywhere.

Flamingojune · 24/05/2026 22:23

No, clearly it’s never “everyone”, but there’s something to be said about them all wearing a uniform ie the Arsenal tops. They want to look like they belong to a group, so it’s kind of part and parcel that they be treated like one too

Changingplace · 24/05/2026 22:26

Jc2001 · 24/05/2026 20:07

But this thread is literally about them winning.

Arsenal celebrations are in the title.

You don't have to be a football fan to figure it out.

Late replying but It doesn’t say why they’re celebrating or what they’ve won, so no, still happily none the wiser 🤷‍♀️

Yep, can confirm all of that has been happening today - it looks like a wasteland.

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 22:28

@metellaestinatrio- I too live in the area. If you’re going away, are you not worried about your property? It’s the one thing keeping me from sodding off

They won a shiny cup. Next weekend there’s a parade.

Generally, people are fine with them celebrating and having a little day with their open top bus. What people aren’t happy about is the straight up ASBO behaviour.

Familywhen · 24/05/2026 22:33

ArsenalArsenalChampions · 24/05/2026 21:25

Are you seriously saying that people have been roaming the streets drunk, shouting, and piddling randomly since Tuesday evening? So over 120 hours? Really?
They haven’t been home, been to work, seen family?

I find that a little.. surprising!

Agree. My son has weirdly been working, , met me in Covent Garden for dinner, exchanged on a house in London and behaved like a normal human being since Tuesday despite being an Arsenal supporter 🙄🤦‍♀️

Given that you're so happy to remain ignorant about it, it is somewhat surprising that you chose to click on a thread about arsenal, read said thread, and contribute to it multiple times.
It's rather reminiscent of people who eagerly await the line up of celebrity versions of tv shows so they can joyfully let the world know that they've "never heard of them" in expectation of, who knows, a shiny badge?

I bet the A&E departments locally are seeing/ will see a sharp uptick in DV events tonight.

Yes but our wonderful PM deemed it worthy to mention the win. Normally, he's slashing off football hooligans.

Holloway Road/ Blackstock Road ‘nice residential areas’ lol . Expensive as fuck yes, but ‘nice’? No.

I grew up in Harlesden in the 80s and 90s and even I wouldn’t wander down those roads at night. Blackstock Rd is teeming with pervy men at the best of times.
