To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

Yes but our wonderful PM deemed it worthy to mention the win. Normally, he's slashing off football hooligans.

i can’t hear the helicopters any more on my street, but we’ve had two police cars whizz down our (normally exceptionally quiet) road in the last 10 mins

That's football hooligans for you.

Such a mess.

That’s shocking! Does the club have to pay for the clean up? Why doesn’t the club open their ground and let the mess be there?

Tollington · 24/05/2026 23:11

COYG

Cooshawn · 24/05/2026 23:19

So much drama.

They won the league on Tuesday, because City didn't win their game. But they were presented with their trophy today, so today was the actual celebration.

Why are people making out like there's been fans out celebrating since Tuesday?

Tollington · 24/05/2026 23:21

On the 31st you north London MNers are going to have a million Arsenal supporters descend on Islington. I suggest going away for the wkend. If Arsenal win the CL on Saturday night it will be even worse for you because they are going to go absolutely mental!

Yes generally the club plays for the cleanup.

They don't open their ground up for celebrations because it would have to be a ticketed and organised event, alcohol isn't permitted in the stands, and people generally don't want to be stood/sat in neat little rows when they're celebrating something.

Because we live here and have eyes and ears?

SnowFrogJelly · 24/05/2026 23:24

YANBU totally with you

Right, so for the last 120 hours it's been party central round your way? Or is there a slight possibility that you've exaggerated?

We’ve already covered this earlier in the thread

Cities are noisy places. There are quieter places to live

I’m sure you are aware that this level of noise and loutish, disruptive behaviour is not normal for the area. It has been happening every night since Tuesday and it’s just too much. Yeah great they are happy about the result but people have lives and work to get on with and they need some sleep. Give them a break!

They haven’t, it’s not played until next Saturday

… and if you’ve read the thread you will have seen that I corrected myself

Surely there are bars in the stadium though? I’ve only been to Twickenham for the rugby but I imagine football stadiums would be the same?

The ground isn't open for general celebrations. Ground = entire stadium.

MauriceTheMussel · 25/05/2026 00:26

Fireworks now and the helicopters are back

I can hear faint whooping (men) and a few cars have driven past with blokes hanging out the window cheering. I wouldn’t bet the drivers are sober.

All just a bit of fun though!

MauriceTheMussel · 25/05/2026 00:37

Yay, groups of men just stood about repeatedly doing some inane chants and going “wwwoooooooooooooway” from low to high. Totally acceptable.

Thats now set some dogs off.

To the PP who loves in Kent and was here for the day and found it great fun. Thats because you get to leave it.

BeanQuisine · 25/05/2026 01:05

For many of them, I don't suppose there's much else happening in their empty lives, but that's long been the way, sadly.

Ithinkofawittyusernamethenforgetit · 25/05/2026 01:58

It’s quietened down here in the last half hour.

No booze at the football in Scotland….too much hatred. We even have to have early kick offs when Celtic/rangers are playing to limit (as much as possible) the amount of alcohol consumed before the match. And i say that as a problem drinker myself.

NellieJean · 25/05/2026 12:38

To be fair it’s been decades since the last time and will probably be as long before the next one.

Elbowpatch · 25/05/2026 12:39

I must be living under a rock. What Arsenal celebrations?

Yorey · 25/05/2026 12:52

This Is why my husband and I don’t follow football any more. The behaviour in general is disgusting. I was travelling with my 9 year old son home from London a few weeks ago and we had a young boy not much older sat opposite us swearing his head off. I tried giving him a look but he just stared me out with a smirk. His adults were standing nearby and didn’t say a word. Then at one stop he spotted some opposing fans, so got up and started shouting “CHELSEA RENT BOYS” at them out the door. The adults with him thought it was funny. Another passenger made half joking comment about the language but then they just got on with talking about the game and the vile language continued.
DH had a similar situation with a drunk, disgruntled football fan in the same carriage as him and my son. This guy made several phone calls to people, complaining about the match and used similar vile language and was generally behaving aggressively, so much so that DH didn’t feel he could remind him that there was a little boy present.
This just seems to be the given behaviour for many football supporters, it’s horrible.
