To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

Good God, are they still at it? DD lives in Finsbury Park and they were all out on the streets Tuesday evening, shouting and hooting car horns until really late. It’s way past time for them to STFU.

The season only finished 3 and a half hours ago!

They've been waiting 22 years let them enjoy the win

Why does enjoying a win mean they can’t use bins?!

“Leave it be” - 100%. If they leave everyone else be (ie no noise disturbances, no litter, no pissing, no honking, no fireworks), I’ll leave them be.

I think that’s quite reasonable.

Do you comment every time there’s something big happening? Or is it just about it being football?
Genuine question?

What about Bonfire Night and the accompanying fireworks?, what about the New Years Eve celebrations? what about Royal Weddings? The Jubilees? I’ve seen the litter from these on the morning after… horrendous.
Every big event has idiots and drunks (Royal Ascot, The Grand National..for example)
I used to live by a large “summer event” area…it was a pain in the butt.. but nothing I could do, bar the eyeroll, and wait til it passed.
All you can do🤷‍♀️

They’ve been celebrating since Tuesday so it must have been anticipated then. Not a football fan, so not familiar with the ins and outs of what they needed to win. DD sent me video from her flat on Tuesday night at midnight, it sounded like bloody mayhem outside!

I don’t comment that much and have commented re Arsenal because it’s literally close to home. That said, those other events you mention piss me off equally.

Guy Fawkes is fine, up until 11pm and only for the 5th. Don’t mind NYE as long as fireworks stop at 1.

Jubilees and Royal Weddings I just find pathetic and twee - but generally people aren’t getting shit faced and pissing on doorsteps and honking horns at 3am.

I feel the same way about the Notting Hill carnival - the theme is the same: all the above and today could be a lovely day if people had consideration for others. Instead the great British public take it way too far because they can’t handle their drink.

Whats the stat about the multiple of women who will suffer DV when England lose a match? That’s not to say that if a team win there’s no DV, just less. This country has a mega problem with booze.

Each of these events are only one day, this has been going on since Tuesday!

Squirrelsnut · 24/05/2026 21:20

I bet the A&E departments locally are seeing/ will see a sharp uptick in DV events tonight.

Changingplace · 24/05/2026 19:56

Not everyone is in London, follows football, or has any notion of what a particular football team has won or lost.

This. Football is an abhorrent game which causes so many issues. A few overpaid prats running around a field kicking a ball around causes vandalism, hooliganism and misery for thousands of people. It’s even worse when a man’s team loses as the wife or girlfriend bears the brunt of it.

To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??
MeetMeOnTheCorner · 24/05/2026 21:23

Yes absolutely agree - it’s ridiculous. My husband has turned into an absolute dickhead and called me a loser cxxt this afternoon.
I am disgusted with him.

WTF!!

has this really happened? If so, please leave this abusive dickhead as soon as you can 💐

Are you seriously saying that people have been roaming the streets drunk, shouting, and piddling randomly since Tuesday evening? So over 120 hours? Really?
They haven’t been home, been to work, seen family?

I find that a little.. surprising!

Do you live in the area?

I do - it happened on Tuesday until 3am, people in AFC shirts in pubs on Wednesday lunchtime, horns until 2am Weds night. I don’t remember Thursday as I’m face deep in baby sleep trenches. Friday, a hot day - again, red shirts everywhere spilling out of pubs. I didn’t leave the house yesterday. Today, The Alwyne Castle was heaving at 11.30am…constant helicopters above us today since about 5pm

It’s been constant - even Trullo found time to paint its significant facade red on, I think, Thursday. It’s non stop “party” atmosphere around here

AgnesMcDoo · 24/05/2026 21:29

It’s one day and it hasn’t happened for 20 years

I can do live updates on this thread for tonight! Half-joking.

What I find troglodytic is a squad of X number of men and some coaches and managers have won this. Not the people in the stands. It’s celebrating something they’ve had fuck all hand in.

Luckily DD has come down to stay with us in South London over the bank holiday so she is getting a bit of respite! Grin

Agreed that it’s quite funny to see all these blokes taking credit for something actually achieved by a team of elite athletes that they probably haven’t even met!

There was literally 0 mention of not using bins in the OP.

Also not using bins isnt an arsenal fan thing, its an arsehole thing, contrary to popular belief, they arent the same thing 😂

Read the thread. It’s not one day. And THE DAY won’t be until next Sunday when a million people are expected for the trophy parade

No love, they probably went home in the early hours of the morning and slept off the hangovers, ready to start it all again the next evening. Yes, this is really happening. Ask local residents.

@MauriceTheMussel Husband went up to Lidl around lunchtime and said there was massive spill-out from the pubs and people had brought their own booze in - so a lot of very drunk blokes way before kick-off.
Older boy went out earlier after the match and came back as the Barn was unbearable. He's gone out again with a mate to go down to the stadium. I gave him the usual maternal warnings about pickpockets.
We're in Northolme Rd, so the Arsenal footfall decreased when the stadium moved, but there's a lot tonight.

Unless you’ve name-changed just for this thread, just want to mention I don’t think it’s wise to give out your road name on a public forum.

No, I don’t live in the area, that’s why I was asking you confirm it was actually a 120+ hour thing.

I did, however, say that I have lived in areas with annoying “events” creating noise, mess, drinking, and general disruption.

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 21:40

Oooooh, no. I don’t think you were sincerely asking that at all!

Newmeagain · 24/05/2026 21:41

Confuserr · 24/05/2026 20:04

Exactly. I'd have sympathy if OP or any other posters had actually mentioned anything going wrong or anyone being hurt but it's just noise and celebrations.

No, it’s not just noise. It’s rubbish everywhere, streets being blocked by aggressive drunk men and just terrible behaviour. Went for a short after dinner walk earlier, to cool off (house is very hot) and there were so many drunks peeing in full sight of everyone - they just don’t care.

Thanks, ‘ love’.

The CoL crisis must have passed everyone by, in that area!
Who on earth has the money to drink, hour after hour for days on end… no work to go to, no family to be bothered with?
It’s a different world.

YABVVU. Arsenal have won the Champions' League - for the first time in 22 years. It's a massive thing for the club, the players and their supporters.

Just to clarify, they have not won the champions league, they’ve won the premier league

BUT

they are in the final of the champions league and have never won it before I don’t think, so buckle up because if they win that, this is going to be ongoing!!

It’s a big deal to football folk

Melarus · 24/05/2026 21:43

We drove up Blackstock road earlier and ran the gauntlet of fans in the street blocking the cars and buses, banging on the car window, hollering, flag-waving etc. Not fun although I guess it would have been bracing if you were a fan.

We also saw about six police vans on their way somewhere, so I'm guessing it wasn't all peaceful...
