To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

Because if they were doing it to celebrate or it was rival teams seeking revenge, what makes you think it’s not happening again this weekend or next? This month is THE celebration.

Oh, and our friends a few roads over had their doorway pissed all over on Tuesday night. So there’s that.

Edited

Are you just guessing that "they" were doing it for that reason? This month isn't the celebration month. They didn't know they'd won until over halfway through the month. What happened a few weeks ago might have been completely unrelated - news off Facebook isn't exactly reliable

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 20:34

No, that’s my point - those attacks were nothing to do with winning whatever trophy. It was just off the back of one game. So, that’s a random normal game day. WTF is happening this weekend and next in THE celebration period?

It’s what the police told my neighbour too and they’d apparently seen doorbell cam footage of the strips the four blokes in a black car were wearing.

MadameMaxGoesler · 24/05/2026 20:37

@MauriceTheMussel Oh yes, the pissing.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 24/05/2026 20:39

It’s not a common occurrence OP, and these men don’t give a shit about you doing your shopping, they’re just happy and cerebrating. Lighten up, itl pass very soon. YABU

The equivalent of “giss us a smile, luv”

MadameMaxGoesler · 24/05/2026 20:42

@ToKittyornottoKitty"Hutch up luv, man incoming".

What does that even mean?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 24/05/2026 20:51

Yabvu

The atmosphere is pleasant with men and women cheering and chanting 'arsenal'

Lots of community spirit

Drunk people are a hazard of living in a city

YABVVU. Arsenal have won the Champions' League - for the first time in 22 years. It's a massive thing for the club, the players and their supporters.

Oh hell, yeah!! 🏆

Whenever there’s something massive on, Royal Weddings, Platty Joobs, Queens funeral, Olympics, pop concerts, football, whatever, up pop the whingers!
its a Bank Holiday, it’s been dry and sunny, and a team has won something after 22 years - can you just leave it be?
I live in a touristy area, that sometimes gets swamped with people… we just have an eye-roll, then crack on with life 🤷‍♀️
If you can’t get it banned, just ignore it… nothing you can do about it.

Well Done Arsenal, you’ve made my old man a very happy man today!
He’s now fast asleep, cuddling the dog😁

Not everyone is in London, follows football, or has any notion of what a particular football team has won or lost.

😆

Why even waste the time to post?

jetlag92 · 24/05/2026 19:40

Did they win something?

The op clearly says they won and they are celebrating.
Even if you don’t follow football reading the op’s post would have answered your question

TiredMagpie · 24/05/2026 20:55

If you live round there, I feel your pain - it must be quite full on at the moment! However, they’ve won fuck all in years and it’s inevitable the celebrations will be drawn out so best to just grit your teeth and wait for it to pass.

If you’re actively going out for a drink or to socialise in the Highbury area tonight and you don’t live there… youre utterly mad ahd I have no sympathy l.

Maybe try Tottenham for a few bevvies instead? Bet its dead round there currently 🤣

Basilandparsleyandmint · 24/05/2026 20:55

Yes absolutely agree - it’s ridiculous. My husband has turned into an absolute dickhead and called me a loser cxxt this afternoon.
I am disgusted with him.

That's awful but that is 100% to do with your husband being a massive arsehole and in no way the fault of arsenal, arsenal fans, or the premier league competition.

You don’t need rain and cold weather, you need a divorce.

tapdancingmum · 24/05/2026 20:59

My daughter lives round the corner from The Blackstock and said it's rammed round there and they were queuing to get in the pubs from 10.30. Fair play to them starting that early - I'd be asleep by 11.30 but it's the trouble that comes with drunk people that's worrying.

BeardySchnauzer · 24/05/2026 21:01

The only saving grace is that arsenal fans are pretty quiet. Normally on match days I can tell when the opposition have scored but not so much the home team…

MyArtfulGreySloth · 24/05/2026 21:02

Why does celebrating have to involve being a drunken yob? The excuses here are baffling. These are grown men ffs.

So that means they have to destroy the place with litter?

OnGoldenPond · 24/05/2026 21:06

Good God, are they still at it? DD lives in Finsbury Park and they were all out on the streets Tuesday evening, shouting and hooting car horns until really late. It’s way past time for them to STFU.

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 24/05/2026 21:06

We used to live within cheering distance of the new stadium, between there and the station. I’m so glad we aren’t there now as I know exactly what is going on.

As a neighbour Arsenal was fine unless there was a lunchtime match in good weather. People turn into arseholes once they’ve been in the pub for nearly 8 hours.

“Leave it be” - 100%. If they leave everyone else be (ie no noise disturbances, no litter, no pissing, no honking, no fireworks), I’ll leave them be.

I think that’s quite reasonable.

TotalBaloney · 24/05/2026 21:08

Who pays for the clean up operation? Why does winning the league mean they can’t use bins?

I can do live updates on this thread for tonight! Half-joking.

What I find troglodytic is a squad of X number of men and some coaches and managers have won this. Not the people in the stands. It’s celebrating something they’ve had fuck all hand in.

CharlieEffie · 24/05/2026 21:10

They've been waiting 22 years let them enjoy the win
