To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

That’s shocking! Does the club have to pay for the clean up? Why doesn’t the club open their ground and let the mess be there?

They can't open the ground, Glasgow City Council won't let the nearby park be used as a fanzone and there are barely any bins at the best of times now because people are having to use them for household waste as bin collections are down.

All that mess was gone by the morning to be fair to the council, and the numbers attending were down too thank God. It's not fair on the local businesses.

As a non-football fan working just outside Finsbury Park station.
Yesterday (yes, I work Sundays) just felt like a party. Yes it was a bit loud, but honestly I almost wanted to join in

Well done Arsenal I say. I love the atmosphere and bonding football brings. It’s such a universal language. My team has been relegated but we’re away camping and was listening to TalkSport yesterday (wondering who join us). A couple from a neighbouring tent came over and we got chatting - they supported a rival team - and we had a lovely hour reminiscing about pivotal games. Those memories are priceless.

Yes,
People are celebrating all over the world
On the internet it showed people in countries such as Nigeria celebrating Arsenal’s win

No booze at the football in Scotland….too much hatred. We even have to have early kick offs when Celtic/rangers are playing to limit (as much as possible) the amount of alcohol consumed before the match. And i say that as a problem drinker myself.

As a Scouse football fan, this makes me really sad. I’m from a traditionally Catholic family and, with the exception of my Uncle Pete (Dad’s brother) who was corrupted and turned to the dark side by his godfather as a kid, the rest of the family (including the 4 preceding generations) are/were devout Evertonians.

It didn’t stop my Nanna (Dad’s mum) who converted to Catholicism so she could marry my Grandad, from taking my Dad and my Uncle as kids to the top of Smithdown Road/Lodge Lane to watch the big Orange Lodge parade. My Dad, now well into his 70s, still fondly reminisces about how much better the music was for these marches compared with the solemn, dire hymns they had to sit through for Sunday Mass!

Honestly, over and above our friendliness and our world famous sense of humour, the thing I’m most proud of about being a Scouser is our ability to treat football as our one true religion (Blue or Red), without ever letting that religious/political Church schism nonsense get in the way, like it has in Glasgow.

I’m back on to vent!

So, a friend just sent me the confirmed parade route and we’re firmly in it and close to the flashpoints. Have we received anything from the council? No. Are there signs up on our road? No.

We’re now scrambling to move our car somewhere safe for the weekend, like to the tune of £100 for an NCP car park. We’ll have to clear our front garden of anything nice but also brace ourselves for piss up our wall, someone scaling the wall, and plenty of bottles being lobbed over.

I am shocked the council are just doing FA about any of this. People aren’t being allowed to gather at the Emirates…so, yeah, protect yourselves and fuck everyone else, isn’t it?

I posted our local FB group pointing out the council’s fiduciary duty to us (as well as AFC’s public liability) and got told, by a bloke, obvs, that he’d “piss up my wall”.

so, to those that say “oh, it’s just a bit of fun”…yeah, it’s not. His comment was instantly liked with people egging him on to find me that I’ve had to delete my FB account just in case. It’s terrifying.
