To be sick of all the Arsenal celebrations??

I totally get it some - people are happy and excited. But the combination of the win, alcohol and hot weather has made my part of London feel really unpleasant since the big win. I went out earlier to get a few things from my local supermarket and felt really intimidated in my own neighbourhood - so many men (and yes, it is nearly all men) drinking, shouting, swearing, blowing stupid plastic horns at passers by. And now there is police and helicopters everywhere.

I am just praying for rain and cold weather, which I know will not come!

Did they win something?

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 19:42

I’m with you. The worst hasn’t even come yet.

I can hear the helicopters now too. Went up Blackstock Rd earlier…Jesus.

tryandbepositive · 24/05/2026 19:43

Oh let them have some fun

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 19:44

But it’s not just fun, is it?

It’s litter, it’s shouting, it’s fireworks, it’s police cars, it’s me worrying my car will get vandalised, it’s drunk boorish men being intimidating, it’s horn honking until 3am

No, they lost. That's why they're celebrating 🙄

Auroraloves · 24/05/2026 19:46

the last time they won was 22 years ago, they’re allowed to celebrate.

the celebrations won’t go on for long

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 19:47

Define long? Because it’ll end up as 12 days

MadameMaxGoesler · 24/05/2026 19:51

I'm just off Highbury Park (Joan of Arc on the corner). I don't mind the noise, but I do mind the disgusting litter.

MauriceTheMussel · 24/05/2026 19:53

<waves> at @MadameMaxGoesler

Did you see the queue out the door of Highbury Barn tavern earlier? For others, it was a good 50m of a packed pavement meaning people had to duck into the road to get around (and that road is always busy with double decker buses going up and down it and a blind corner (as you get to the crescent/bus stop). People sitting on the pavements with their feet in the gutter a little further up as you get to Blackstock.

It’s just broken glass and empties in the street with a horrible atmosphere of it all about to go wrong. I was relieved Tottenham didn’t get relegated today as otherwise I was fearing the Spurs fans coming down for a fight

My thoughts too, I have no idea, genuinely passed me by 😂

Not everyone is in London, follows football, or has any notion of what a particular football team has won or lost.

MadameMaxGoesler · 24/05/2026 20:02

@MauriceTheMussel Husband went up to Lidl around lunchtime and said there was massive spill-out from the pubs and people had brought their own booze in - so a lot of very drunk blokes way before kick-off.
Older boy went out earlier after the match and came back as the Barn was unbearable. He's gone out again with a mate to go down to the stadium. I gave him the usual maternal warnings about pickpockets.
We're in Northolme Rd, so the Arsenal footfall decreased when the stadium moved, but there's a lot tonight.

Endofyear · 24/05/2026 20:02

Wait till we win the Champions League!! 🏆

Exactly. I'd have sympathy if OP or any other posters had actually mentioned anything going wrong or anyone being hurt but it's just noise and celebrations.

Youdontseehow · 24/05/2026 20:06

try being in Glasgow with the Celtic celebrations. Absolute carnage. But nobody died as far as I’m aware so that’s a bonus.

But this thread is literally about them winning.

Arsenal celebrations are in the title.

You don't have to be a football fan to figure it out.

@ConfuserrAnd disgusting litter.

YABVVU. Arsenal have won the Champions' League - for the first time in 22 years. It's a massive thing for the club, the players and their supporters.

Have they?? Do you have a Time Machine?

they won the premier league and the over celebrating / anti social behaviour is embarrassing.

Oh lighten up. Celebrating something brilliant happening to a team you love after a long wait is not "embarrassing". It's not cringey to be happy. We're only on this planet for 80 years, if we're lucky. Terrible shame if you spend that avoiding expressing happiness out of embarrassment.

Well, about two months ago, a load of car windscreens in the surrounding areas got a hammer to them. It was over several nights and car were randomly targeted. Our car got whacked with a hammer on the wing mirror around midnight as I was watching over my sleeping newborn. Our neighbours car got four whacks to her windscreen. I thought it was someone kicking our gate in. It was terrifying.

All over the local FB group were similar reports with the police saying it was football fans getting carried away.

On a short drive today, I had to slam on the brakes because a drunk AFC supporter stumbled into the road. I saw plenty of women sat, alone, by pubs drunk and out of it and staring into space. How well is that going to go?

Even now, on my quiet street (@MadameMaxGoesler - we’re near St Augustine’s) every 5 minutes there’s a car driving past laying on their horn. Yeah, just noise? It won’t stop until at least 2am - so I won’t sleep and I’m on edge for my baby. I can hear screaming in our street too. The helicopters are audible.

And as for the argument of “well don’t live near a stadium then”… come off it. They last won 22 years ago. It’s not like this happens weekly and how STUPID we all are to live near the stadium. I very much think it’s normal in society to not have to be or not have to expect to be scared of drunk crowds of men.

Confuserr · 24/05/2026 20:25

I don't see what cars being hit with hammers two months ago has to do with Arsenal winning the Premier League this week, which is what you said you were upset people are celebrating? Noise at 2am would piss me off if I had a baby though, not arguing about that.

Lampzade · 24/05/2026 20:26

I live in Kent but I have just returned from visiting relatives who live in North London .
So many Arsenal supporters having fun and enjoying the sunshine .
They are a bit noisy but it is a time for celebration

Because if they were doing it to celebrate or it was rival teams seeking revenge, what makes you think it’s not happening again this weekend or next? This month is THE celebration.

Oh, and our friends a few roads over had their doorway pissed all over on Tuesday night. So there’s that.
