To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

IIRC that was built to accommodate three.

for helpful (stick figure) examples of how it could be used:

Arrhhh no. What have I done to my algorithms now ?

I’m looking at this chair, thinking, ‘wow, how practical…that would really save my knees..,’

🤣

CultOfTheAirFryer · 24/05/2026 14:15

Well this is grim.

Agree with the suggestion that you should flatly refuse to ever use it, and see if he bins/sells it or puts it back in storage. It might tell you a lot about your relationship.

Gotta be a wind up by a bloke this one.

hallenbad · 24/05/2026 14:17

Honestly it looks quite comfy to me. Accept I seem to be in a small minority 😂 Unfortunately it offends my interior design sensibilities though so I couldn’t have it sitting there looking at me like some sort of 80s ottoman!

OtterlyAstounding · 24/05/2026 14:18

JayJayj · 24/05/2026 14:07

For similar reasons. You can get in different positions you may not be able to without extra support. Especially if you aren’t flexible or have much core strength.

I can't figure for the life of me what different positions you'd be able to get in on that chair, and I don't want to Google it 🫣 What can one do on that, which one can't do better with a mound of cushions and a bed?

I've tried the full gamut of positions in my lifetime, and I honestly still can't work out what one could do on that chair. It seems much too narrow and low to the ground for most things, including comfortable doggy, and the shape looks limiting.

CoffeeCantata · 24/05/2026 14:21

That would turn me off sex for life and send me screaming to a nunnery.

Super-tacky.

Pineapplewhip · 24/05/2026 14:23

Has he got a disability? Why on earth would anyone need a sex chair like that?! Its not even putting you in a creative position. How random.

Vitrolinsanity · 24/05/2026 14:24

Coming back to this, I note now the flip top chest part at the front which you could turn into an ice box. Who wouldn’t say no to a Magnum half-way through, whilst as a PP said watching Rip.

UhOhRatPoo · 24/05/2026 14:29

I was really hoping this thread was going to be about a woman who was leading a committee dedicated to discussing sex and gender issues!

Scoose · 24/05/2026 09:49

What's with the posts about sex chairs lately I saw another one yesterday

😂

Cailin66 · 24/05/2026 14:34

How does one explain a sex chair in the living room to the children?😨 Or the in laws.🤔

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 14:39

What did the other thread say? Was it the one about the woman whose husband bought a chair but then was suspended from work or a different one? I can assure you I’m not a man and the other thread wasn’t me, I think this thread would’ve deleted by now if my posting history seemed off but I’ve been on MN for years

Yes that one where after the OP had confronted her DH about sexual messages on his phone with a colleague he thought ordering her a queening chair was the answer!

Peterdottir · 24/05/2026 14:45

And OP I just wanted to add that your thread title is fucking hilarious, it has made my day and the responses on here have had me howling with laughter.

I am new to MN and so don't know if this is a thing but if at the end of the year MN do a top 10 of AIBU thread titles you are a strong contender for the winner 😂.

FoulBlister · 24/05/2026 14:52

Does it come in other colour or is it just the Heather Shimmer?

Badbadbunny · 24/05/2026 14:54

Calliopespa · 24/05/2026 13:33

But the vast majority of those are protected against by the customary use of pants when sitting on furniture.

If I knew your and your OH drove about in your car in the nude, I probably would be asking someone else for a lift - though admittedly at that point the upholstery might not be the biggest concern looming in my mind ...

Edited

Did you never have fun on the back seat of a car? I wasn't talking about driving around nude, I was talking about being intimate.

WiddlinDiddlin · 24/05/2026 14:54

As long as it looks and smells clean... I couldn't get worked up about this.

He's probably shagged people on his sofa, on his mattress and you don't object to sitting on those?

I hate to point this out but... he's had his willy inside her and then inside you, hopefully it's been washed since but... shrugs

That's why it's better to get one of those huge bean bags! Just as good for different positions but "innocent" looking for friends and family.

InterestedDad37 · 24/05/2026 14:59

I was gonna suggest that it's a reverse, but that's possibly not how the chair is meant to be used 🙂

So unlike the home life of our own dear Queen.

I do t know, her great, grandfather had one custom made for him.😂

Moondoggle · 24/05/2026 15:03

Sex chair?! In my day we were lucky if we got a sex stool, and we were happy about it.
