AIBU to want my sister to leave my local crows alone?

I have been feeding a group of crows near my house and we’re just getting to the point where they wait for me now in a morning and come very close. My sister has decided she wants in on it but I’ve told her to go and find her own murder as I’ve put in all the hard work with these ones. I told her there is a murder across the way on the field she could do and feed.

this morning I was coming home from shop and there she was feeding Russel from my murder. I shouted at her and she shouted that they’re not my fucking crows, at the point a woman walking a dog walked past and tutted so sister shouted that they’re not my crows and I was shouting at her. The woman just carried on walking but this was right near my house!!

AIBU to think she should just go and feed the others???

In my murder mystery I have 2 sisters living in a chocolate box village. One lives in a cottage with a hall too small to accommodate a bike. But she has a garden shed. What is in the garden shed?? She has a keyboard in the cottage. She keeps playing that nursery rhyme about the maid was in the garden, hanging out the clothes ,when down came a black bird and...... There will also be a bakery in the village which specialises in unique birthday cakes. The bakery may have a grudge.
We must have a rustic farmer, who shoots vermin crows.
Let's throw in a few magpies and rooks.
A suspicious looking bicycle repairs shop proprietor.
I haven't decided on the age of the characters. The 6 year old child may now have grown up and still be harbouring a grudge about the birthday cake. The sisters may be elderly. Or I may keep them younger.
Of course, we mustn't forget the long suffering husbands.
There may be a long standing feud between the crow appreciation society and the rustic farmer.
Plus, random characters who talk to sheep and squirrels.

And what is in the garden shed?
I haven't decided on the victim or the murderer.

But do you make time to fight over them?

No but im an only child!

We have a leucistic crow we see on one of our walks . It’s a beauty.

My husband is currently in the dog well cat house for suggesting an indoor cat that lives in an apartment near us and looks out of the window , and whom I didn’t see for about a week, was obviously dead.

I saw the cat this morning thank goodness, they’d obviously just changed their shift pattern.

WTF?😆

😂

I guess I was today years old when I learned that a pack of crows was called a murder of crows 😂

sister rang me earlier saying white chest isn’t on the lamp post where he normally is. She’s been out a few times to look for him even though it’s pissing it down. I feed them at 7am so white chest knows to meet me there at that time. She’s got no chance of getting Russel out without White chest 🙄 god knows what the neighbours must think of her hanging around that lamppost all evening. I’ve told her to go home and leave them alone.

Ahhh it's you the sister with the holiday bathroom post. You guys need to stay away from each other 😂.

If you're not fighting over which toilet to use you're for being over loyalty of the crows 😂

I didn't realise this was the same person with the holiday bathroom/toilet ridiculousness!
I remember the bike in the sister's hall/keyboard in OP's house...

SummerMadnessBegins · 20/05/2026 18:18

Do the crows bring you gifts @AliceNotInChains ? I've heard that's a thing with crows. Or was it robin's...

onedogatoddlerandababy · 20/05/2026 19:02

Cherrysoup · 19/05/2026 13:10

This is ridiculous. They aren't 'your' crows and they have no loyalty to you. Do you live together?

Actually crows do remember people and faces, and will tell their friends and family about you and how you treat them.

they’re incredibly intelligent.

op, I love you for making a friendship with these crows, perhaps you need to elevate the quality of food you’re giving them so Russel bad mouthes your sister’s inferior treats

Well aware of this, 17 years is the recorded record of generations of crows holding a grudge. Unfortunately, my dog snatched a youngster and we were-quite rightly-attacked for a long time afterwards by the family.

SerafinasGoose · 20/05/2026 19:37

We have buzzards in the farm on our lane up the hill. The crows are fearless. They mob the buzzards whenever they make a strike, notwithstanding they're at risk of copping it themselves. They are the thugs of the avian world (another reason why I like them)!

They're brave and they're also persistent. I just hope the buzzards don't go after the brown hares on the other side of the hill. Hares are one animal I love even more than crows!

Brideofclover · 20/05/2026 19:41

AliceNotInChains · 19/05/2026 13:21

Yes that’s what I was hoping for too, I’m making them a buffet at weekend in my garden and hoping once they’ve had they will frequent my garden and I can keep her away

I voted yabu BUT only by a very tight margin - I’m going to sit on the fence with the crows ……and THIS thread is why I love Mumsnet so much!!! Batshit craziness that people think is normal 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Am I high???

Emeraldforest · 20/05/2026 19:53

Please dont fall out over crows!
That being said I love them too, they are so intelligent and funny. I love watching them playing with dogs.
I see more magpies this year though.

Newsenmum · 20/05/2026 19:55

Theyre very clever. Show them that youre top dog and offer superior snacks.

How many in the murder?

Omg is this the same person

Think she's got attention seeking needs

What a freak

HarshbutTrue2 · 20/05/2026 20:30

oooh. I need to update my murder mystery with a holiday bathroom story...I haven't read that thread.
I need to include buzzards, blackbirds and dogs. Maybe an air bnb with a toilet issue. Maybe more than one farmer. I need to include a traditional English pub with a quirky name. It should probably be a bird related name. The Dog and Duck is a bit too tame. The Crow's Nest...not quite right.
Characters will need to be saluting magpies. We all know what happens if you don't salute a magpie.

Miaminmoo · 20/05/2026 20:31

I don’t really have an opinion on the feeding rights of these crows but I have certainly enjoyed the comments and I hope this post is genuine because it’s made my day 🤗

Ileithyia · 20/05/2026 21:12

She’s a cheeky fucker.

I’d love my own murder.
