AIBU to want my sister to leave my local crows alone?

I have been feeding a group of crows near my house and we’re just getting to the point where they wait for me now in a morning and come very close. My sister has decided she wants in on it but I’ve told her to go and find her own murder as I’ve put in all the hard work with these ones. I told her there is a murder across the way on the field she could do and feed.

this morning I was coming home from shop and there she was feeding Russel from my murder. I shouted at her and she shouted that they’re not my fucking crows, at the point a woman walking a dog walked past and tutted so sister shouted that they’re not my crows and I was shouting at her. The woman just carried on walking but this was right near my house!!

AIBU to think she should just go and feed the others???

In my murder mystery I have 2 sisters living in a chocolate box village. One lives in a cottage with a hall too small to accommodate a bike. But she has a garden shed. What is in the garden shed?? She has a keyboard in the cottage. She keeps playing that nursery rhyme about the maid was in the garden, hanging out the clothes ,when down came a black bird and...... There will also be a bakery in the village which specialises in unique birthday cakes. The bakery may have a grudge.
We must have a rustic farmer, who shoots vermin crows.
Let's throw in a few magpies and rooks.
A suspicious looking bicycle repairs shop proprietor.
I haven't decided on the age of the characters. The 6 year old child may now have grown up and still be harbouring a grudge about the birthday cake. The sisters may be elderly. Or I may keep them younger.
Of course, we mustn't forget the long suffering husbands.
There may be a long standing feud between the crow appreciation society and the rustic farmer.
Plus, random characters who talk to sheep and squirrels.

And what is in the garden shed?
I haven't decided on the victim or the murderer.

Don't forget to add in the personal loos and a spooky corridor....

Omg is this the same person

Think she's got attention seeking needs

What a freak

And what's wrong with a bit of freakery, may I ask?

😂

I guess I was today years old when I learned that a pack of crows was called a murder of crows 😂

Collective nouns make for fascinating reading

We have buzzards in the farm on our lane up the hill. The crows are fearless. They mob the buzzards whenever they make a strike, notwithstanding they're at risk of copping it themselves. They are the thugs of the avian world (another reason why I like them)!

They're brave and they're also persistent. I just hope the buzzards don't go after the brown hares on the other side of the hill. Hares are one animal I love even more than crows!

Same here with the red Kites. Never sure who is after who as the Kites will occasionally take a bird on the wing. I wonder if they get near the crows nests.

Neuronimo · 20/05/2026 22:35

Is White Chest back Alice? I've been a tad anxious!

maxslice · 20/05/2026 23:07

I’m absolutely charmed. Crows are very smart birds and will remember faces. Remember too, those that are kind to them and those that aren’t.
You and your sister seem to have larger unresolved issues. I don’t know what to say about that. Except that crows are not that rare and she should find her own instead of trying to usurp the ones you’ve been feeding. Wouldn’t it be more satisfying to her to build her own relationship with wild birds than to try to take over someone else’s? Mozart had a starling who was very clever. Maybe she can try a different species.

bornwithhorns · 21/05/2026 02:10

I mean I love my mr crow and I wouldn’t wanna share my little bond with him with my sister 🤣🤣

FantasyFoodhall · 21/05/2026 04:22

I only have blackbirds, and I like them a lot but they lack that certain something that crows have. How do I get crows to visit? What makes them like you OP? I think your sister is bang out of order and should go and find her own friends. Pheasants maybe, there are loads of them around.

Hmmm. Maybe there is an antique wooden cheese press in the shed. Perhaps the murderer killed the victim by pressing their skull in this device. And moving the body to another location.

Butchyrestingface · 21/05/2026 05:50

Is this the one with the sister where they keep stashing vehicles in each others houses?

Anyway, Russell is the problem here. He’s a faithless hoor. Take it up with him.

Hoor a good Scots insult especially when said with feeling.

Don't forget to add in the personal loos and a spooky corridor....

I have decided that one of the characters should live in a large, old, detached house just outside the village. Behind large hedges. The house will be called The Rookery. I'm not sure if the resident is the old crone who runs the crow appreciation society; or a member of the gentry who enjoys shooting crows.
The Rookery will have long spooky corridors and old fashioned, noisy toilets, with chains. There may be a more user friendly toilet in the house.
I am also going to include a character called Maggie/Mags, she is famous for her pie. Mag's Pies. (Magpies geddit) Not sure if she is the butchers wife, landlady of the pub, or runs the traditional bakery which makes the unique birthday cakes.
I also need a talking Jackdaw.
The butcher is a jovial, well respected member of the community. However, the dead rabbits and pheasants hanging in his shop hint that he may have a darker side.
Mag's Pies also have a darker side.
Not sure about murdering someone with a cheese press. I think there will be a few murders, including someone being pecked to death. The crows may take revenge for the murder of the lady who feeds them... to be continued...

Ilovelifeverymuch · 20/05/2026 16:40

Ahhh it's you the sister with the holiday bathroom post. You guys need to stay away from each other 😂.

If you're not fighting over which toilet to use you're for being over loyalty of the crows 😂

And the bike in the hall, and the blowing out her nephew’s birthday candles posts.

I would say it’s fair to say that (1) reality strikes this OP differently to others and (2) she and her sister should probably live on different continents.

This all sounds very Ethel Lina White meets Edgar Allan Poe. I’d actually quite like to see this written up!

You remind me of an amazing sight I witnesssed right above my house: swifts in a ‘balling’ formation exactly like those schools of fish do when there’s a predator nearby. At first I thought it was a starling murmuration but it was the wrong time of day and they were definitely swifts. Then I saw the reason - a big red kite.

Nature is wonderful.

Oh wow that sounds amazing! I was remembering this morning that my Grandfather had a very tame pair of Jackdaws living in his shed. He'd leave the door open for them to come and go and they'd feed from his hand. He taught them to speak/mimic and they'd often say 'Caw stone the crows' in a rural accent. How rude, don't tell the crows.

You are unreasonable OP, if only for the reason that I now have ‘Oi, sister! Leave my crows alone’ sung to Pink Floyd’s Brick in the Wall tune on a loop in my head…

Is White Chest back Alice? I've been a tad anxious!

White chest was not in his usual spot this morning but I did my usual walk and just as I got home he flew past my head (very close!!) and landed in front of me so he got lots of treats 🥰

about an hour later my sister messaged me to say a kid was chasing Russel so I went out and there was this secondary school lad arguining with sister, she said she’d seen him frightening Russel so I told him to leave the bloody wildlife alone. He was trying to impress his girlfriend I think who just looked embarrassed.

I wonder if he’s done it to white chest and that’s why he hasn’t been around much? Well Russel doesn’t take any shit so I’m predicting he will be dive bombed tomorrow on his way to school! I hope so

We managed to get Russel to follow us a bit further up the way for his treats.

OP posts:
Neuronimo · 21/05/2026 15:27

Oh glad he is ok Alice! Good job you chased the kids off, he'll probably not be tempted to do it again.

I wonder if a clue or two could be discovered as part of a crow’s nest? A slip of paper or fabric? A light piece of Jewellry? Even a bit of a person’s hair.
