AIBU to want my sister to leave my local crows alone?

I have been feeding a group of crows near my house and we’re just getting to the point where they wait for me now in a morning and come very close. My sister has decided she wants in on it but I’ve told her to go and find her own murder as I’ve put in all the hard work with these ones. I told her there is a murder across the way on the field she could do and feed.

this morning I was coming home from shop and there she was feeding Russel from my murder. I shouted at her and she shouted that they’re not my fucking crows, at the point a woman walking a dog walked past and tutted so sister shouted that they’re not my crows and I was shouting at her. The woman just carried on walking but this was right near my house!!

AIBU to think she should just go and feed the others???

No im sick of her waiting for me to start something and then swooping in to take over.

Pathetic!

Have you no jobs to go to? Or are you squabbling pensioners?

Me and Russel?

😆😆😆 OP I got half way down your first post and knew it was you.

Your ‘dramas’ with your sister do entertain me.

Sasha07 · 19/05/2026 16:20

You blew out your nephew's birthday candles before he had a chance to, you don't deserve to have loyalty from the crows 🥳😜
Coming from someone who wouldn't do that to a child but is currently working on befriending some Jackdaws, one is getting very confident near me so the rest better follow suit, they're costing me a small fortune! 🐦‍⬛😁

MarxistMags · 19/05/2026 16:23

WTF 😒 !

Jom222 · 19/05/2026 16:23

Everyone here acting like you're insane but I'm seething with jealousy. I'd kill for a murder of crows and if I developed a relationship with one and my sister came along and interloped it I'd plot with the murder to--um--be rid of her.

Let the crows do it tho 😎

Good luck with the buffet it sounds perfect.

We were camping in Cornwall years ago now, and I was up very early one morning so sat outside with my cup of tea. There was a crow sitting on a telegraph pole nearby watching me, so I said 'Hello, crow'. It looked over and said 'Good morning'! 😮

Edited

It did not!!

OneNewLeader · 19/05/2026 16:28

I think you need to allow ‘Russel with one L’ to make his own decisions, hard as that might be.

Dimpledaisies · 19/05/2026 16:28

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

tierdytierd · 19/05/2026 16:31

Do you live together?

stop telling her anything

Animatic · 19/05/2026 16:38

This is easily the most outlandish case of sibling rivalry I’ve read in years. P.S. best wishes to Russel

Oh man, i really hope this post is for real.

I seem to have stumbled into an alternate universe. I am still to ascertain whether or not it's a good or a bad one.

AddictedToBooks · 19/05/2026 16:40

I love this post!! Great dry humour and also relatable to batshit crazy people like me,

Got to admit, I've named all of the local birds that come into my garden - mind you, nobody else on our street feeds them and one anti-animal and anti-wildlife neighbour had gone as far as nailing plastic hawks to his garage.

I have noticed though that "my" pigeons get all territorial and bolshy, especially Gunther.
I also have crows (love them) and sparrows and blackbirds and Eurasian Collared Doves and yes, I would also be v. angry if anyone tried to feed "my" extended family of birds and squirrels.

Woodfiresareamazing2 · 19/05/2026 16:50

I feel like I entered a parallel universe here.

Posters who have named all their garden creatures, one who's training a squirrel army to attack anyone who displeases her, others that say the OP and everyone else is batshit crazy...

I didn't have reading about sisters arguing over a murder of crows on my scorecard for today, but this thread has been the gift that keeps on giving.

@AliceNotInChains please don't ever settle down into a boring life of sisterly love and agreement on everything. 🙏

Changing wild birds behaviour to be semi reliant on you for food and disrupting how they forage/what nutrition they get/how they teach their young survival skills and the necessary human avoidance skills, yeah you're both being unreasonable all day long OP.

Why can't people just let wild animals exist?

TerfOnATrain · 19/05/2026 16:58

You are both unreasonable, we have loads of fucking crows and they are greedy bastards that don’t give the smaller birds a look in. I bang on the window to shoo them away and then put lots of very small crumbs under the low apple tree where the big black bastard crows and nasty magpies can’t get.

FashionVixen · 19/05/2026 17:01

You have a Russel problem. LTB.

Boomer55 · 19/05/2026 17:03

Crows are disloyal buggars. They never reveal their true feelings, and just follow the food. 🙄

You shouldnt be feeding them this time of year anyway.

Tell that to the building companies and garden lovers who pave over the lands with cement.
The birds need our support.

LetsMakeThisMomentLast · 19/05/2026 15:53

Absolutely. And also I think that, since she is the one who named the crow, the OP can spell it any way she likes😅

Excellent thread.

His name is probably Bert and he's probably sick of being called Russel(l).

nomas · 19/05/2026 17:19

Feis123 · 19/05/2026 14:01

I am sorry. I had my OWN fox that I fed some leftovers, and then bastard neighbours started feeding her premium dog food. My fox turned out to be a political prostitute and does not even sit by my window anymore. I shall see how she likes it when they are gone to Cyprus for a month in a few weeks' time.

P.S. Tell your sister to get to fuck and leave YOUR crows alone.

What on earth is a political prostitute?

IPoopRainblows · 19/05/2026 17:30

Is this the chat for the crazy bird ladies - Great.
I too, am quite possessive of my garden bird friends. There’s a nest of blue tits in a bird box I put on side of garden shed, I leave some mealworm out for the parents and they pop in and out feeding their chicks the mealworm.
DP decided the other day to get in on the action and was leaving out seeds and peanuts, I told him to go away and get his own blue tits and also to not engage with the robin who comes and talks to me daily in the front garden. I hope Russel with 1 L and Cheryl
(Sheryl )enjoy the buffet.

SerafinasGoose · 19/05/2026 17:53

You have a murder, and you have not only become attached to its individual members but have named them too? I thought it was just me did who crazy things like this (I have also spent hours drawing mine). Kudos, OP, Kudos. ❤❤❤

And yes, crows are spectacularly intelligent birds with incredible cognitive abilities. They can absolutely recognise the people who feed them.

(Unfortunately I have no constructive advice to offer about your usurping interloper of a sister. But that aside, you rock).

Thecows · 19/05/2026 17:55

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/05/2026 13:47

Her sister.... 😁

Brilliant!

Thecows · 19/05/2026 17:56

Are Jackdaws as intelligent? Are they also a Murder? They're so Dickensian, I love them
