I’ve just seen that the Hantavirus is in Liverpool?! They’ve been brought to Liverpool? I’ve got a 2 day work conference there and now I’m worried 😢 I suffer terribly with health anxiety. AIBU?

They are being isolated and will have to leave by private transport to isolate for longer at home. You should be fine.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 11/05/2026 20:00

If I had to go up north Hantavirus would be the least of my worries.

BIWI · 11/05/2026 20:00

Yes, YABU!

jackiesgirl · 11/05/2026 20:00

They’re in a specialist isolation unit at a hospital on the Wirral, there’s a nice big river between there and Liverpool

ScaryM0nster · 11/05/2026 20:00

You are being totally irritational.

Hantavirus is not in the general population in Liverpool. An infectious diseases dedicated unit was used to manage the returning passengers. That happened to be in Liverpool but it has zero interaction with the local
population.

Fgfgfg · 11/05/2026 20:01

They have put people into an isolation hospital on the Wirral. You've got the river Mersey between you and the hospital.

TedTookVows · 11/05/2026 20:01

They haven’t been brought to Liverpool. Arrowe Park Hospital is on the Wirral and has a special block where they isolated Brits who came from China and tested positive for COVID. It’s been done before. They have the experience. It’ll be nowhere near your conference.

Zanatdy · 11/05/2026 20:02

Its a specialist hospital used for this kind of thing, on the wirral, not Liverpool. Measures are in place and there is no risk to the general public in the locality.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 11/05/2026 20:02

Omg I’ve heard it all now!

mumstheword1x · 11/05/2026 20:02

But it says they can be let out in 72 hours which will be when I’m at the conference 😢

You haven't seen that anywhere, and it's not. And it's silly posts like yours that cause people to panic.

Zanatdy · 11/05/2026 20:03

are you the same poster worrying about staying in the hotel in Liverpool?

BIWI · 11/05/2026 20:03

Yes

Whilst they are discharged from hospital premises they will isolate at home with monitoring. They won’t be wondering around

They will be going home to isolate and this will be tracked. They won’t just be let onto public transport. Why not research it instead of causing panic.

Worked like a charm with Covid

Jobseeker2026 · 11/05/2026 20:04

I doubt they’ve packed for the conference if they’ve come straight from a cruise so they’ll probably skip this one 😉

plsbekinddelicate · 11/05/2026 20:05

Is your 2-day conference in the infectious disease unit of the hospital? If so, YANBU to be worried. Any other place YABU.

Uncalled for classism.

Exactly, it didn’t do a very good job at containing Covid!

After 72 hours they are taking private transport to their various homes to continue isolation for 42 days. I suspect these 72 hours are largely being used to educate them and put provisions in place for the quarantine period.

A completely different virus. This one is spread by prolonged contact, not standing near someone like with Covid

Covid was a different disease, more transmissable and it had already spread widely so containing it was impossible. This is a very confined issue with a handful of people.
