I’ve just seen that the Hantavirus is in Liverpool?! They’ve been brought to Liverpool? I’ve got a 2 day work conference there and now I’m worried 😢 I suffer terribly with health anxiety. AIBU?

Unless they all lived in the same town, they'd have been taken home individually - or as couples, if they were couples. So separate, anonymous, vehicles at different times.

They are entitled to privacy and confidentiality about their health. The nhs is obliged to observe that. They won't be giving out any information that could enable them to be identified.

OP I am glad you made it through your conference without your anxiety making it too difficult for you but you really do need some help.

I’m here and I don’t feel any better. It feels so close on the map. 11 miles away from me.

Theres no sneeze on the planet that could travel 11 miles.

"I’ve just seen that the Hantavirus is in Liverpool"

Rather than get in a flap about this virus you really need to spend time addressing your health anxiety. You're ignoring facts and repeating stuff that just isn't true or realistic. This is just going to add to false rumours and get other people worrying. Don't you realise you are now scaremongering and adding to the panic of others who are also incapable of understanding facts? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Give it half an hour and it's been chinese whispered to "I've seen on Mumsnet that Hantaviris is in Liverpool" and then "A woman on Mumsnet couldn't go to her work conference because of Hantavirus" and then "My friend knows a woman who went to a conference in Liverpool even though she was worried about spreading Hantaviris" and then "There's a whole conference probably infected because someone with Hantavirus went even though she was worried about spreading it" and "Loads of people got infected at a conference in Liverpool because Hantavirus spread really quick there" and then "Hantavirus is all over Merseyside after a conference full of infected people".

And then someone says "Don't be daft, that's not true, there's no Hantavirus in Liverpool" and then it's "Oh course it is. They're telling you it's not widespread because thats what they want you to believe. They're trying to fool you". And then people ignore good and sensible advice that professional give about stopping it actually spreading, because "they" are trying to control us. 🙄

I despair.

Edited

Agreed. And it's also massively attention seeking.

Indeed.

And the irony is that the anxious person doesn't want to be the centre of attention, but their behaviour makes them the centre of attention.

It is very freeing to realise that other people aren't as interested in you as you think they are.
