I’ve just seen that the Hantavirus is in Liverpool?! They’ve been brought to Liverpool? I’ve got a 2 day work conference there and now I’m worried 😢 I suffer terribly with health anxiety. AIBU?

Will depend whether they can be shown to be at fault. BBC reports today suggest the first couple may have already been infected when they came aboard. If so the infection didn't originate on board the ship.

It's about 20 people, not all of them will be allowed home, only if they live alone or with people they went on the trip with. They won't be allowed home if other family members are there

The main reason Covid spread imo was because the government didn’t want to stop air travel or let businesses be affected. BoJo et al originally went down the route of letting people get it and changed tactics when it was too late. He got it himself because he was happily shaking hands with Covid patients.

Cruise ships aren't subject to most domestic regulation and their contracts often make it difficult to sue them and win. But it does sound like they may have been negligent managing the outbreak so I'll bet there are lawyers looking into it.

Viruses are being worked on, but whether they will make it to production is the question. However, vaccines are generally a money game. There aren't many cases of Hantavirus (and even fewer amoung the populations of richer countries) so research isn't well funded. Should there be a sustained outbreak, money will pour in and vaccine companies will see the potential in producing something that they could sell millions of doses of.
