Another poor child is killed by a dog.... We already know this is an XL Bully, don't even have to wait for confirmation.

A Google street view of Hardale Grove. It is a residential cul-de-sac with cars parked on the pavement.

Child dies in Redcar dog attack, police say

Police remain at the scene in Dormanstown, where one dog was destroyed earlier.

Because they know how statistics work and see patterns forming from previous dog attacks, use their brain and that’s the (correct) conclusion in 99% of dog attacks these days.

If we are.going with statistics more.spaniels and labs are owned uk there are far more stipulations on bully's my bet it lab , alsation rottweiler

cadburyegg · 09/04/2026 22:20

All XL bullies should be put to sleep. Otherwise we will just have 10 more years of this.

Plus the problem where some are bred with other dog types and there are unpredictable mixes.

Some were sent to the country where I am based. One of the rescuers was literally eaten alive, his partner was already in hospital having been attacked a few days before. Just why. Retrievers retrieve, herders herd, fighting dogs fight. There is no need for them anymore. Plus bull breeds top the list of abused and euthanized dogs.

TofuTuesday · 09/04/2026 22:34

Im really shocked the government are just ok with kids and members of the public being picked off and killed by these dogs. How many more until there is a cull?

TheAutumnCrow · 09/04/2026 22:36

So two dogs. One reportedly destroyed at the scene in the street, one ‘seized’ from the home.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 09/04/2026 22:38

The government weren’t prepared to have owners wailing in the streets over their dogs being killed, they’d prefer to let the dogs kill kids and then euthanise them.

TofuTuesday · 09/04/2026 22:42

It’s appalling. I worry about my kids walking to secondary school, visiting friends (you don’t know families at secondary) or going to sleepovers. I could teach them stranger danger, safe routes etc but because some idiots want a status symbol I feel powerless. Round here they’ve even got some monthly xl bully meet up so the parks a no go then.

Oh shush, everyone knows it was actually a chihuahua. Don’t you all know how viscous those things are?

*obv being sarcastic. I’d put money on it being a bully or similar bull terrier. There’s just no need for them

Happytaytos · 09/04/2026 22:50

Always in deprived areas too. Please can people wake up and see how dangerous these dogs are.

Why is it? Usually they are quick to announce if it is. They haven’t announced the breed in this case unless you know inside info?

It will be 'that' type of dog. Even if it strictly isnt a pure breed of XL Bulldog, it will be either a mixed breed of it, a mongrel of it or a lookieliky of it

They wont announce any breed until its been DNAd in any case.

Wouldnt suprise me if technically its not a pure breed which will give people like you the opportunity to say 'oh well it wasnt an XL, it was some other dog'

Notashamed13 · 09/04/2026 22:58

Just had a notification of a dog being seized after a serious incident in Devizes....(Wiltshire 999s)

PinkNailPolish2026 · 09/04/2026 22:58

These reports make my blood run cold, another innocent life taken by these abominations of dogs. They should all have been culled in the first place. I remember when the ban came into force in England and fuckers were bringing these things into Scotland in droves to “save the babies”. One of my fiends lives near a kennel where some of these dogs were “saved”, it’s a shit show and a disaster waiting to happen. How anyone can own these things and think for a second they’re safe is madness.

I’m happy bet it’s another XL.

Edited to add that poor child, goodness knows the terror they went through bless their little heart.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 09/04/2026 23:07

Truly awful. I also agree that XL bullies should have been culled when the ban came into force, and should have been UK wide.

RubyFlax · 09/04/2026 23:09

I read this article the other day about where these dogs go when they are seized and it was a real eye opener and quite terrifying.

The guy who they interviewed runs a kennels that takes the dogs from the police while they’re under investigation… he even said he dreads the holidays as he knows kids will get hurt / killed. It really is that predictable.

You're right that there are far more spaniels and labradors etc than XL Bullies in the UK, and (being much more common) they are probably responsible for more bites. However, it's very rare for a spaniel or labrador's bite to do serious damage or turn into a fatal attack, whereas XL bullies are so huge and strong that their bites cause immense damage, they have the killer instinct to continue with an attack no matter what, and they are almost impossible for most people to overpower.
