AIBU to use main bathroom on holiday despite en suite?

Last Easter I went away with DH, Sister and BIL. We stayed in an castle apartment.
As I have IBS and other gut issues I insisted on having a bedroom with an en suit for my benefit and everyone else’s. This was fine, DH and I got the room with the little en-suite. On the first night we were watching a film in the living room and I got up to pop to toilet, I went into the main bathroom and they all started shouting that I should use my own bathroom. I laughed and said I’m only going for a wee and this was met with more shouting of “you have your own toilet”, DH then said “she does this at home too, claims ownership on one toilet then uses everyone else’s”

Anyway it went on and on, the whole 3 nights were spent with them trying to stop me using the main bathroom. I think it started as a joke but they were 100% being serious by the end of it.

Anyway we’re due to go back tomorrow, same place and already sister is dropping hints about whoever gets the en suite uses that exclusively.

Am I the one in the wrong here?? I’m only using main bathroom for peeing btw

I was only using it for weeing and the apartment is spooky, the main bathroom is next to the living room. The en-suite is in the bedroom at the far end of a dark spooky corridor. I know it sounds daft but I’m not the only one freaked out by that corridor

Well this is bonkers.

Ask them if they'd rather smell diahorrea next to their bedroom and let them squirm .
Then say you were trying to be considerate but you won't bother next time. But i have adhd so maybe don't follow my advice and use a filter.

Eh? OP insisted it was only a wee, so how do get diarrhoea from that? Or has it turned into a deliberate dirty protest now?

Where did I say she was lying? Just stating a fact that applies to most of us. I'm not denying that she has IBS at all; just saying that she can't have things both ways: unpredictable when it comes to getting the en-suite but totally predictable when it comes to using somebody else's en-suite equivalent.

OP doesn't owe any of us on here anything; it's her DH, DSis and BIL who have been put out.

She’s told us that she used it for a wee. I tend to believe her.

I'm sure she's telling the truth too. I'm also glad that she has such easily-controlled IBS that she can be confident that it won't have the same sudden effects that it often has on a great many sufferers; and I'm also impressed at the psychic powers of the other three that they too can know for a fact that the person who insisted on the en-suite because of her condition will 'only be having a wee' this time (which she could incidentally still just as easily have done in her own personal toilet).

This thread has turned nuts! I
of course you can use the nearest bathroom for a quick wee.

OP wouldn't agree with you had one of the others been near the 'spooky' corridor (and thus closest to her en-suite) when they needed a quick wee.

She is also using it to shower rather than use the bath in the en suite.

Why can't you just use your own bathroom? Is there a reason? And what about their privacy, maybe they would also quite like a bathroom that they can use and not feel it's a public space too? I respect you have IBS but even without it's nice to not have to share a bathroom with other people

Came here from birthday candle gate to see what toilet gate was all about. I don't think the toilet issue will be a problem in future as it sounds like you and your sister won't be going away together again.

We’re going away in June actually, and again in October but won’t be taking husbands
