Do you still have a ‘Hotmail’ email address

Keep seeing this mentioned on social media in videos or posts about being old 😳🤣
I have no plans to change my email but lots of people saying they hate giving their email address to people and having to say ‘@ hotmail.com’
I didn’t even realise new emails don’t still use this…

Technically I do, but I've put an outlook.com alias over it. I never use the Hotmail email. I only use it for disposable emails or places I think will spam me. I have a Gmail for most things.

I work in finance and a lot of providers won't accept Hotmail as it's not secure enough.

I didn't realise having a Hotmail address was a problem or that it made you old 🙈

Same… 😬

chattyness · 28/03/2026 22:48

Yes , still have mine. It's co.uk though

mondaytosunday · 28/03/2026 22:56

Uh yes. One kid has Hotmail one has outlook.com though, and we all have gmail.com addresses.

dalecooper · 28/03/2026 23:02

Yes I still have a .com one that is now my secondary account but still gets used regularly for many things. It is 27/28 years old. I still didn’t manage to get my first name and last name though! Mine is my middle name and maiden name. I vividly remember setting it up at work on the one computer that had the internet on it.

CoffeeInTheClouds · 28/03/2026 22:30

Exactly the same is happening to me today!

It's annoying isn't it! It was happening a couple months ago then it stopped for a bit and now it's back. I love how they make out it's our fault when it's clearly their issue!

Harpertron · 28/03/2026 23:06

I still use my full name hotmail.com and have earned the years for the use of it. Nowt wrong with being there at the beginning!

Anyone got a blueyonder email address?

Yes I know a few - but they are always older than me and I’m 60+

celticprincess · 28/03/2026 23:36

I’m sure when I set up my Hotmail account pre 2000 most people didn’t use their real name. I set mine up to go on msn chat rooms at uni and used a nickname instead of my real name. I work in a job where people have to send their email address for a particular course they do and we have had some funny emails from the old days that are more nickname like and actually not ones most people would use nowadays.

Emeraldforest · 28/03/2026 23:44

Yes a .com one, I am old though. I don't care!

MMBaranova · 28/03/2026 23:44

My hotmail.es must be 19 years old. I was at school in Spain when I made it, before coming back to the UK for A-Levels? It is used for various registrations and I keep the inbox ruthlessly empty.

Some subsequent email addresses are long forgotten, but I like keeping this one on.

I have a yahoo account

As if our skinny jeans and side partings weren’t enough of a giveaway, we now need to be self-conscious about our email addresses? 😂

I had no idea my side parting was showing my age! Now I think about it, youngsters DO all have centre partings. Learn something new everyday..

FredaFox · 28/03/2026 14:34

I find the joint emails more cringe than hotmail eg SarahAndAndy@xxxx get one each 🤣

Our first email address was like this @ blueyonder.co.uk

My main email is Outlook but it’s an @live.co.uk one rather than Hotmail. I don’t know what this says about me!

RedTiger211 · 29/03/2026 00:24

I have an msn.com address from way back in the last century!

Wasn’t aware of this. I had a very strange issue with a theatre I attend when I simply wasn’t receiving e mails from them although they were adamant they had sent them. Changed to an outlook address and everything than worked perfectly. Though it odd at the time. Would be interested if a techy type could explain.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2026 02:22

mumofoneAloneandwell · 28/03/2026 11:00

😄😄 yeah, full name at Hotmail.com

Same

GeorginaWilby · 29/03/2026 04:19

I commented earlier about having a hotmail.com address since 1996, with the same password for 20 years, which was 'lol'. Just my name, and a three letter password! I still have my first emails saved from 1996, does anyone else? I'm in my 70's now and wonder what will happen to my hotmail account when I'm dead.

liveforsummer · 29/03/2026 06:46

I got locked out of my original .com hotmail. I remember being furious when it would only let me set up a .co.uk instead which is what I still have. My friend still has her original yahoo address which is her teenage nickname followed by the number 69 (thought we were hilarious when setting that up 😆) She’s now very sensible with a very responsible job and am amazed she’s still happily hading that out for all kinds of things.

ErwinsCat · 29/03/2026 07:08

Xmasshoppinghell · 28/03/2026 11:05

Mine is Hotmail.co.uk. Not sure if that’s worse. People always trying to correct it to .com

Me too, initials surname at hotmail.co.uk

At the time, it never occurred to me not to use my name!

Readytoescape · 29/03/2026 07:17

I recently looked at job vacancies and did see on a local government site that they do not accept applications from Hotmail etc it blew my mind. Hotmail is my main email. Feeling I have to change this along with my jeans and outdated makeup that has had an upgrade. Why do things have to change if they work!

Egypt500 · 29/03/2026 07:18

@SerendipityJanenever thought of that! I do remember MSN Messenger being a thing though

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/03/2026 08:11

Yep, me too. I like the layout and being able to create files. Also have gmail because I had to have something other than hotmail to reg my kids for school. Annoying, that. Don't like all email on main page and labels system - too overwhelming to see emails just sitting there from all different categories. I want to put them away. 😤

Driving me nuts!

They should know that those of us who are old enough to have 'hotmail' addresses are dinosaurs and can't be bothered with pass keys, authenticator apps, biometrics or any if the other weird ways they have created to access our messages!

Rudicoolcat · 29/03/2026 08:41

Martymcfly24 · 28/03/2026 11:01

Yep with the year I set it up in😬😬😬 it starts with a 1.

Me too...😁🤣
