Spain didn't give in to the marmalade moron either, so now their Left wing government is being threatened that all US trade with Spain will be suspended. I hope Starmer and Sanchez are raising glasses to each other tonight.

So we should all just give in to the orange bully?

What are you on about? Is that really how you read this post?!!

Marmalademorning · 03/03/2026 19:11

Wow, so let’s just stop anyone who doesn’t share the same political opinion as you from being able to share their opinion shall we?

"Can the Prime Minister reassure all those who are concerned about the UK being drawn into war?"

Kemi Badenoch last year. Changed her tune, somewhat. Suddenly she is all for the UK being drawn into war. Why?

DonnaHadDee · 03/03/2026 19:22

As a few people here will know, my DF was career army person, and our older son is currently serving. I was disgusted by Trump's previous comments on our armed forces. This really shows what he thinks of us.

I'd never support Starmer. But this US regime cannot be trusted.

Pearl69 · 03/03/2026 19:23

I think Starmer has played it well this week. Must be a nightmare dealing with the Americans.

The amount of abuse he’s getting for the decision is awful and unhelpful. He’s not going to make the same mistakes as Blair thank goodness.

Simonjt · 03/03/2026 19:23

Lambington · 03/03/2026 18:50

Agreed. Starmer is playing a blinder on this. Unbelievable how the Right wing press, Tories and Farage are all baying to get stuck into another illegal war with America. Like they've all forgotten Iraq.

Killing innocent non-white people is almost a sport for the right, so, sadly not a surprise.

The US and Israel are the tyrants. I wonder if you'd feel like this if your children were being sent to fight a "war" to distract from the Epstein files.

This 💯

I am so, so pleased that the UK has a grown-up leader and not Johnson, Truss, Sunak or any of the other Tories (or heaven forbid) Reform. All of them would have been a total embarrassment.

Absolutely this. I’m not his biggest fan but at least he has some statesperson like qualities as oppose to tha bumbling, evil twat and his cronies in the USA.

So, British territory in Akrotiri has been hit, despite the UK taking no part in the military action on Iran up until that point and our navy has nothing to defend it so we have to rely on the French and people support Starmer?

How low we have sunk. Not lifting a finger to help our allies against an insane theocracy, exporting death throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Trump is right, Starmer is no Winston Churchill.

And nor should he be. It's 2026 and the world has moved on from these decades old tropes. Getting voluntarily involved in this circus to massage the tyrant's ego is a fool's errand.

Spain have made some interesting decisions in the last two years. It’s like they have simply run out of fucks. It’s great.

OrdinaryMagicOfAcorns · 03/03/2026 19:30

Well said op and others.

Personally I find myself worried by Trump’s statement that ‘it’s too late to talk’.

Christ he has no concept of diplomacy or of international relations, at the very least.

Plasticdreams · 03/03/2026 19:33

KS knows that Trumps time is up. This is an illegal war to distract us from the fact he is a child rapist - he’s not fooling anyone.

HPFA · 03/03/2026 19:36

Whatever you think of Starmrr domestically he's done a decent job trying to manage the lunatic toddler who believes everything he's told by liars and insults our war dead.

Arms to Ukraine have continued and last month Russia actually lost territory.

We haven't joined these insane attacks on Iran other than protecting our troops in the area.

He's done OK.

Lemonfrost · 03/03/2026 19:37

Marmalademorning · 03/03/2026 19:08

Sunak was way better and far more popular than Starmer could ever hope to be. I guess you are just someone who spits venom at anyone who doesn’t share the same politics as you though.

You are being rather unfair here. I think Sunak would have done a good job with this as well - primarily because he wasn't Johnson or Truss.

Lex345 · 03/03/2026 19:37

I am also in Starmer's corner amd I am impressed he has held his nerve and said no.

Special relationship or no special relationship, I, as many others do, want a decent leader of the UK who will stand up for what is right rather than just what is easy.

US is possibly the most unpredictable ally to be aligning to right now. Trump wanted NATO etc to forge their own path-so he needs to back off and deal with his own country's problems, rather than sticking his nasty little beak in over here.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/03/2026 19:41

TheFairyCaravan · 03/03/2026 18:20

As the mother of a solider, I’m so pleased that we currently have Keir Starmer as PM. I dread to think what would be happening if Badenoch or Farage was in charge right now.

Lets not forget, either, that it’s only about 6 weeks ago that Trump had a go at all NATO soldiers, including the British, saying that the US had never needed them, and they’d never asked anything from them. He went on to say “"They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan... and they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines.". 457 of our soldiers died “staying a little back from the frontlines” so as far as I’m concerned if he wants to go in, feet first, starting wars, then crack on, but leave us out of it.

Wishing you and your dc the very best @TheGrimSmile 💐.

Agree with you completely

Unfortunately, the "special relationship" has well and truly gone, one way street that it's been since January 2025.

@Marmalademorningoh come on let’s not pretend that if Starmer had done what the tories and reformers are saying they would do - that they would be satisfied. No they would be banging on about it being an illegal war and how Starmer should have stood up to the orange lunatic!
Starmer will never do the right thing in their eyes and let’s not pretend otherwise!

Coffeeandbooks88 · 03/03/2026 19:45

Johnogroats · 03/03/2026 19:14

This is an illegal war… Trump and co have not respected a single convention and appear to have zero strategy. We are in danger of repeating the worst of Iraq and embroiling the Middle East in a regional war. And for what? The Iraq regime while hideous was not an immediate danger to anyone. They’ve sent out missiles and killed a handful of people and awful though it is, they are not the aggressors. Think for a moment about the death and damage caused by Putin. Where is America on that.

I am a retired service woman and a lawyer.

Controversial but at least with Saddam there was stability in that area. The US can meddle with the middle east but leave us out of it.

Parrlorwarrior · 03/03/2026 19:47

I never thought I’d be a Starmer fan but there you go.

Ihatethistimeline · 03/03/2026 19:47

The British people do not want to send their children to die in Iran to help Trump. A man who slagged off our troops only a couple of months back and who cannot be trusted.

The American people are turning on Trump at home so he is using this war as a distraction. He got high off his own supply after getting away with Venezuela.

Look how long Europe begged Trump to help in Ukraine and got slagged off. Trump said Europe was far away and we should fuck off. Well the Middle East is even further away so why are the Americans there now?

Trump threatened our allies weeks ago with Greenland.

Why on earth would Starmer team up with him and his thieving, paedo death cult. Let Trump and ‘bring on the end times’ DUI hire Hegseth handle Iran solo.

Any politician or media personality who argues the UK should get involved is a traitor or should send their own kids over there.

Or let Richard Tice and Elizabeth Oaskshot put on their fatigues and represent us.

I agree i honestly think Rishi would have taken a similar approach.

BollyMolly · 03/03/2026 19:53

Me too! For the first time ever Kier has shown he believes in something and is willing to stand up for it. Let’s hope he doesn’t change his mind again.

Exactly. When Starmer was talking about providing peacekeepers to Ukraine in the event of an agreement, he was called a warmonger.
