Churchil was a eugenicist too. He had very similar opinions to Hitler in some respects. I’m glad that we don’t have a PM anything like him!

Shooting at Miners in Tonypandy…

Ihateboris · 03/03/2026 18:52

I agree. He's finally grown a backbone and isn't giving into The Big Orange Bully.

Wakemeuuuup · 03/03/2026 18:52

I'm happy Starmer hasn't capitulated. I'd rather the UK based weren't used by US for defensive missions either.

I agree in that I think we should be fully supporting the US in this. We’re just sitting back and letting them save us from tyrants.

Sorry - what did we need saving from?

The US and Israel are the tyrants. I wonder if you'd feel like this if your children were being sent to fight a "war" to distract from the Epstein files.

The US and Israel are the tyrants.

They're not though. They just happen to be wealthier and better armed than their opponent (who is - sorry, was - an actual tyrant. Demonstrably so).

Well, apparently that’s what we’ve always done, according to them. So they can piss off.

Absolutely

Certaintyneeded · 03/03/2026 19:07

I agree OP. I am not Starmers biggest fan, but I absolutely respect him on this. I think the other parties and right wing press need to stop their incessant criticisms.

DorisTheFinkasaurus · 03/03/2026 19:08

God, please may Starmer stick to his guns and not falter on his stance. The UK must stop being the Orange Mob Boss's subordinate. He is utter chaos on wheels and those wheels will come off if they haven't already. The lengths some people go to distract the world from the Epstein files...

MJOverInvestor · 03/03/2026 17:36

I am so, so pleased that the UK has a grown-up leader and not Johnson, Truss, Sunak or any of the other Tories (or heaven forbid) Reform. All of them would have been a total embarrassment.

Sunak was way better and far more popular than Starmer could ever hope to be. I guess you are just someone who spits venom at anyone who doesn’t share the same politics as you though.

Pull the other one. It's got bells on.

Nowimhereandimlost · 03/03/2026 19:10

Agree. I'm grateful for this kind of level headed politics after years of being run by a cabal of self-serving, hate-baiting wassocks.

Wow, so let’s just stop anyone who doesn’t share the same political opinion as you from being able to share their opinion shall we?

Ah no, Not intending that as I know opposition MPs and parties need to hold the government to account. But it seems too dangerous to just be politicking on this one to the extent they are.

Spain didn't give in to the marmalade moron either, so now their Left wing government is being threatened that all US trade with Spain will be suspended. I hope Starmer and Sanchez are raising glasses to each other tonight.

I wasn’t meaning that, just act a bit grown up and not criticise for the sake of it, which is how a lot is coming across right now.

Johnogroats · 03/03/2026 19:14

This is an illegal war… Trump and co have not respected a single convention and appear to have zero strategy. We are in danger of repeating the worst of Iraq and embroiling the Middle East in a regional war. And for what? The Iraq regime while hideous was not an immediate danger to anyone. They’ve sent out missiles and killed a handful of people and awful though it is, they are not the aggressors. Think for a moment about the death and damage caused by Putin. Where is America on that.

I am a retired service woman and a lawyer.

Allswellthatendswelll · 03/03/2026 19:15

I actually think Trump is senile. It's the ramblings of a senile old man.

I hope Farage really doubles down on it. People are starting to see Reform for what they actually are now thankfully.

No - I have friends who voted to Leave and others who are far to the left. By any measure Sunak was a hopeless leader who ran Britain into the ground. Admittedly, he was left a dreadful hand by Johnson and have no doubt he's a lovely bloke, but he completely failed to actually lead his party, which is a quite important part of being a leader after all. Nor can he be said to have been popular with the electorate since he never faced them as leader of his party.

You're right, we should be supporting the US. They need someone to save them from that lunatic Trump
