The hard-core anti-Starmer lot will be along soon to pour scorn on the thread, but I agree with you OP.

Trump will have forgotten about it all by this time next week.

Probably already has due to his short attention span.

So, British territory in Akrotiri has been hit, despite the UK taking no part in the military action on Iran up until that point and our navy has nothing to defend it so we have to rely on the French and people support Starmer?

How low we have sunk. Not lifting a finger to help our allies against an insane theocracy, exporting death throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Trump is right, Starmer is no Winston Churchill.

Is that you, Nigel?

JennyWrenSeven · 03/03/2026 20:22

I’ve not read all of the posts but is all of this sudden ramping up of world conflicts in some way trying to put to bed the Epstein headlines? A bit like when Covid was there, then it wasn’t once Russia invaded Ukraine? 🤷‍♀️

Probably already has due to his short attention span.

Quite possibly.

This is the downside (to the US) of his attitude. Aside from his obviously deep felt things, like for example dislike and jealousy of Zelenskyy, for everyone else there's increasingly minimal incentive to stay onside because there's no consistency.

PandoraSocks · 03/03/2026 20:01

See what? People from across the political spectrum agreeing that the UK shouldn't get dragged into war at Trump's behest?

Long may it continue.

Edited

Absolutely 🙂

I’m even more of a Trump fan after the decisive action he’s taken. I’m even less of a Keir Starmer fan after his disgraceful behaviour. He had the French send a ship to defend our base whilst he was still dithering!! Yes, we’ve got one on the way now, but why the hesitation?

Have you read anything other than the Daily Mail over the last few days?

Shooting at Miners in Tonypandy…

  • Decision re the Gold standard which may have helped cause the great depression
  • Black and Tans

If Churchills political career had ended in the 30s we would think he was a disaster. However, because he was right about Hitler, not a coward and a good wartime leader (I understand Indians would have a very different take on that) he is remembered well.
I think he probably was one of the best politicians at the time to lead the UK through WW2. (There's a parallel universe out there where the UK capitulated to the Nazis). But he was really bad at other things. It puts the winter fuel allowance debacle in perspective.

I am so, so pleased that the UK has a grown-up leader and not Johnson, Truss, Sunak or any of the other Tories (or heaven forbid) Reform. All of them would have been a total embarrassment.

Or Blair?

Hesitation, or considering the consequences? Consequences are something Trump 'fans' may struggle to understand.

Roundhead · 03/03/2026 20:34

Trump was draft dodger and should not talk about people like Churchill.

Replies like this are just embarrassing. The poster you've quoted makes a very salient point about the UK defending it's own bases.

Iran is incredibly unpredictable. If they had the means, the likelihood is they'd be bringing war to the UK. Yet here we have a thread full of people saying, essentially, that they'd opt for that because they don't like Trump. The old adage about Turkeys and Christmas springs to mind.

DdraigGoch · 03/03/2026 20:40

Marchspringss · 03/03/2026 17:50

I think he was really good, I like how he speaks, represents UK. On the other hand I don't get Trumhps way of talking abd acting?
I mean isn't he educated ir something?

Trump got into Wharton because his brother called in a favour. His professor repeatedly described him to friends as "the dumbest goddamn student I ever had". He's spent years bragging about his degree but has always kept his transcripts quiet. The explanation is simple: he's rich, he bought the degree.

BIossomtoes · 03/03/2026 20:42

If they had the means, the likelihood is they'd be bringing war to the UK.

Why? What would be gained from declaring war on an insignificant little island in the middle of the North Sea? That makes zero sense.

But they don't, do they. If they did the US wouldn't be attacking them in the first place.

You know Trump is only killing people because he wants a distraction from the Epstein Files.

I am not a fan of Starmer but fair play to him for refusing to be Trump's lap dog. Think he seems determined not to copy the mistakes of Blair with the Iraq invasion.

No, we do not have a thread full of people saying they'd accept Iran bringing war to the UK because they don't like Trump. Not even slightly,

People are commenting on Iran and the war as it actually exists, ie without the Iranians having any possibility of bombing the UK as they have the UAE etc. That tells you nothing about what they might want in circumstances where the UK proper was under attack.

Only on paper. He paid people to take his exams for him in school.

To summarise, the Iranian regime view the UK as a manipulative power that has meddled in it's affairs for decades.
