To not understand why fly tipping is happening on such a large scale?

If you have a car, surely you can just go to the dump? I mean, it's free 🤷‍♀️

Why is flytipping on an industrial scale happening, what has changed to cause this to happen? Have industrial sites been shut down?

Genuinely don't get it, just seen it on the news

I live in a popular fly tipping spot - the council often put up cameras to catch them. One time our road was blocked because the little layby had 2 parked cars in so the pickup had nowhere but the road to tip off the load of garden material including loads of turf. Took us half an hour to shift a pathway through wide enough for a car (the council then arrived and cleared it completely.

Most times it is at least a transit van's worth. They collect waste from the public and are paid below the going rate, the public think it is a legitimate carrier and they just got a bargain price - then the driver just dumps it rather than pay for the weight of his load at the tip. The public should insist on seeing the waste carrier's licence, and to get a receipt for the waste. Otherwise THEY could be liable for the tipped waste if it is traceable (sometimes it is if it is household rubbish and has addresses on)
