I work for an English bank that has a high number of employees in Scotland, they are not getting Monday off but I would be all for it if they did. It's great they have qualified and I can see why they are excited. They have a shit kick off time on Sunday morning as well. It's not a last minute bank holiday, it was confirmed by the King back in February. I would rather this that a BH for the funeral of someone I have never met.

Why does the heck does anyone care? Some organisations in Scotland are giving the bank holiday. Many are not. It’s a choice. My organisation has granted it. I’m not a football fan but I’m bloomin well taking the day, lol. If England or wherever else wants one for a special reason, crack on, we don’t all get the same bank holidays anyway. If it’s any consolation Scotland will be out of the WC pretty much right away, as our team are pure shite whether we like to admit it or not.. lol

I'm NHS. Nothing is getting cancelled. We get a day added to our annual leave entitlement to use whenever. Everything still has to be covered! Just like every other Public Holiday every year!

Our GP is closed. Just as they are for every single holiday, local holiday, first Monday of the Glasgow fair….

The only-a-few-councils-are-going -ahead-with-it, almost-entirely-just-for-public-sector-workers Scottish bank holiday will still cost £millions. The Scottish government doesn’t seem to understand the idea of opportunity cost. Spend millions on a bank holiday and you have millions less to spend on other things. Yay, day off! Oh, lots of community projects canned to pay for it!
