Context that my dad said he couldn’t believe I was eating “all that”
don’t judge the oven food, it’s Thursday and I’m tired!

Is this too big a portion?

I'd go for more veg and half the fishfingers!

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 19:24

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 05/02/2026 19:23

I would eat that much. None of it's particularly filling.

If you're tired you eat more to compensate, no?

Yeah I’m tired and work was very cold today (13c or so)

It's more than I would have usually. Sometimes though I only have one meal a day and would probably eat a similar amount then (would probably have less of the main and finish off with fruit & yoghurt though). Are you going to have a pud?

Leon waffle fries, garlic and herb ones
don’t usually buy them but I did an Ocado shop and they were on offer

Oh they sound yum! Ok, I'd add a few more to my plate because they sound good and I will eat any oven cooked crispy potato item 😂

I'd eat that, I'm a healthy weight. Perfectly normal amount.

Don't listen to MN competitive undereaters, some people on here have serious food issues.

I would eat that too. Perfect portion size if you haven't snacked in between meals.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 05/02/2026 19:25

That wouldn't be enough volume for me! I'd still be starving after. But I eat lower cal higher volume as I need the quantity. I'm a healthy bmi and age 41.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 05/02/2026 19:26

I could definitely eat that! Looks really nice.

CliveBixbee · 05/02/2026 19:26

Probably one more finger than I'd have but there can't be more than 800 calories on there - surely that's hardly comment worthy for a main meal?!

QuietLifeNoDrama · 05/02/2026 19:26

I don’t think that’s a lot to eat. There’s nothing in fish fingers. 5 of them is still a lot less fish that if you’d had a piece of frozen fish. You’re probably talking less than 150g of fish. To be honest. I could eat that and still feel hungry 😂

FurForksSake · 05/02/2026 19:26

lets add it up, 150-200 calories for the fish fingers, 200-250 for the waffle fries, maybe 50 for the veg? So it’s maybe 500 calories if you add no butter or sauces.

Seems ok. I wouldn’t eat that many waffle fries or fish fjngers as I have a smaller appetite, I’d probably add baked beans or a giant blob of sauce and end up at the same number of calories.

The plate maybe makes it look more? Or encourage you to fill it?

cardibach · 05/02/2026 19:26

AlexandraJJ · 05/02/2026 19:19

Yes

Ok. But that’s not really enough for an adult.

AlexandraJJ · 05/02/2026 19:27

Yes I know

thistimelastweek · 05/02/2026 19:27

The younger me could have eaten that no bother.
Old me would struggle but I haven't forgotten how hungry I used to get.

Bluegreenpinkred · 05/02/2026 19:21

I'm middle of my ideal weight range on bmi chart, so I believe I don't understand or over eat. I'd have 2 fishfingers, same amount of veg and half of the potato things.
Dc2 is also middle of ideal weight range and would eat that but probably 3 fishfingers. But dc2 is bigger than me and does more exercise so needs more calories.
So in short I cant answer your question.

Why bother posting then!!

PinkyFlamingo · 05/02/2026 19:27

AlexandraJJ · 05/02/2026 19:17

A third of that would be enough for me but we’re all different

Oh come on! This is the start of the competitive undereating

Lararoft · 05/02/2026 19:28

I’d probably have 3 fishfingers and add some kind of sauce or mayo

Zanatdy · 05/02/2026 19:28

For me 5 fish fingers would be a big portion. I’d have 2x

dammit88 · 05/02/2026 19:28

I don't think it's that much at all. I could eat it easily.

99pwithaflake · 05/02/2026 19:28

That's a perfectly normal portion.

Ignore all the weirdos people who claim to be stuffed on two fish fingers and four waffle fries 😂

Deadringer · 05/02/2026 19:28

Surprised that pp have said they would only eat 2 fish fingers, that seems very little to me for an adult, I would give a toddler 2 or maybe 3.

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 05/02/2026 19:28

Yeah that's loads. I'd eat half that for dinner. And I'm size 16 so not exactly an undereater! 😅

cardibach · 05/02/2026 19:28

PopVix · 05/02/2026 19:21

After a long day, I could def shovel that down! Maybe I would choose one fewer fish finger but I could def manage it.

I wouldn’t ’shovel it down’. But that’s probs because I don't demonise eating and make it feel horribly over indulgent. I’d eat it. Except the peas. Peas are the devil’s veg along with sprouts.

AlexandraJJ · 05/02/2026 19:29

Exactly. I answered a question honestly. I don’t need to defend my eating habits nor the clinical reasons why same as anyone. That’s why I said we’re all different. No need for it to escalate

fishfingergate · 05/02/2026 19:29

Lararoft · 05/02/2026 19:28

I had sweet chilli sauce, don’t worry!

Looks to be about 700 calories which is absolutely fine for a main meal.
