Context that my dad said he couldn’t believe I was eating “all that”
don’t judge the oven food, it’s Thursday and I’m tired!

Was a slightly sarcastic to said poster who was making huge digs at the huge portions and massuve 2000 cals 🙄

Well no excuse for the person making digs but 2k a day is massive if like me I aonly need 1550, as I said, it would mean a 1lb a week gain, over a year, nearly a stone.

But the sarcasm therefore creating shaming of someone who has a low BMI and is perfectly healthy, no need for that at all which makes you no better than the other person who you say is making digs.

If you gain weight at 5’8 eating Just over 1000 calories while also being active 5x a week and you’re not an older person or have a physical difference - you’re either underestimating your calories or something in your body isn’t behaving as it should be. You should be losing weight on that lifestyle, if you’re not it suggests something is behaving unusually. All good if you are healthy and your body is just behaving differently to every other human’s but if not it’s best to just get some bloods etc to make sure.

In January I had my annual full blood count, lipid profile, blood sugar, liver function, thyroid and full cardiovascular risk markers tested. All came back normal.

@soupyspoonalso calorie needs only properly start to decline after age 50 (200calories less a day on average) and then age 60 (400 less).

38% of the population is > 50. So that’s not most people either.

Where do you get those stats from?

Ive just pretended Im 5 years younger, as I wish, which would be under 50. My calories would only be 30 more a day.

However if I put that Im 15 years younger, I can have 100 more a day.

Nice.

She was replying to me and I was not making 'massive digs'.
BurnedoutGP seems to have a problem with slim women for some reason.

I eat 40% of that. 2 fish fingers, half the veg and less than half the fried potato things. It’s a lot of food. I expect you to have a manual labour type job.

Are you a sparrow?
40% of what's on OPs plate wouldn't feed a child.

1lb a week over a year would be almost 4 stone. 52lbs is 3.7st. Not 14 lbs

U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans (2020-2025).

The PHE Guide to good nutrition and hydration in older age (2017) also states a reduction of 100-400 calories.

It’s the performative restraint.

It's not performative, nor is it restraint really. It's just what I do. I find it very odd that some people on here can't believe that not everybody likes the same food in the same size portions as they do. Amazingly, I prefer smaller portions but perhaps more of them throughout the day. Astonishingly, I prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate. And - believe it or not - I just like a square or two rather than a whole bar. Do you accuse those people who've commented that they could eat far more than OP of performative greed? Because I certainly haven't. Not have I criticised anybody else's choices, because I recognise that we're all different.

Incredible isnt it, the sneering and judgement, it would be shut down quickly if it was the other way and quite rightly.

Rosealea · 08/02/2026 17:18

It's definitely way more than I'd be able to eat

Be careful. You'll get accused of performative restraint or sneering at others or something.

I did weigh my pasta today to check a dish I was making so I don’t think I’m too far out with that

for 4 portions it was
6 sausages
1.5 full broccoli
250g pasta
undetermined amount of frozen peas

had half a bag of salad on the side

the rest of the day I had apricot wheats with banana and 2 crumpets with marmite

Please tell me you put butter on your crumpets as well. This might be the most worrying thing I’ve read in my life on this thread.

Whenever I say I have marmite on crumpet I get funny looks, glad to see I am not the only one.

Going to have some now as you have me hungry

My weight has no drain at all on NHS resources Hmm You are being the insulting one
i don’t know why you put eating disorder in quotes, they don’t just mean you’re underweight, you can have one and be overweight

Put the bottle down love, that does far more to drain NHS resources.

I know…you have to pretend that OP’s portion is tiny and you would eat the same or loads more…even if you wouldn’t. It’s bizarre
