Why is Ghislaine Maxwell remaining silent?

Posting in AIBU for traffic, but I mean ‘AIBU to wonder why she’s not said stuff…”

Is it out of loyalty? Would saying anything incriminate her even further? Will she be freed if she stays silent, and if so how/why?

I also don’t understand how she can’t be encouraged to say something. You’d think she’d be raging inside to be the only person imprisoned and would want that rectifying.

She needs to be looked after financially when she's released and that won't happen if she spills the beans on all the rich people. She'll be rewarded if she keeps quiet.

Same with Andy & Fergie.
It will soon be chip paper.
And they’ll get their payday.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 03/02/2026 09:37

As for Trump and GM relationship, surely he shouldn’t be supporting her at all if he was innocent, he’d throw the key away. He needs to resign immediately.

The late Queen must have had some kind of idea about what was happening in her home, with all the security.

You can’t trust any of them. These people in charge of countries.

No longer tomorrow's chip paper...the Internet never forgets.

I think the fact the only person in prison for this is a woman says it all. She has nothing to gain and everything to lose if she pads out details. Also many people think Trump had Epstein killed, so she would be likely risking her life.

Coffeeishot · 03/02/2026 10:23

She is in prison for assisting /facilitating jeffrey epstein in sex trafficking and sexual abuse of minors I understand there is men running about free but i don't think that should diminish her involvement.

I don't understand how he was allowed stand in the first place, he is hardly an upstanding citizen.

His fans are unthinkingly loyal. Like being a football supporter, no matter what your club does or how unsuccessful it is.

Yes, that is true. However…
We’re almost immune to News.
That is the Internet at work.
Even Trump is not shocking.

It’s on Audible, Spotify et, free.

Have you tried listening to it on Spotify? I rarely use Spotify, so I'd appreciate some help with this, because when I tried to access the podcast, I got an invitation to subscribe (to what?) & when I clicked 'not now' it just put me back to the list of apparently locked episodes. What am I doing wrong here?

Do you have an Alexa? Last night I just said 'Alexa play The Mysterious Mr Epstein' and it started.

She is already in jail, how does that minimise her involvement? None of the men proven to have actually abused children have been arrested. Surely that is far more diminished if you want to proportion responsibility. She is being punished and they are not.

What sort of "encouragement" do you think would be appropriate?
A pardon?
Torture?
Something in between?
If so, what?

She could be encouraged to exonerate Trump by promising her a pardon. A number of his criminal buddies have been given that, especially if they were billionaires who made generous donations.

Of course, any such evidence would not be at all reliable, and might well be a pack of lies.

IMO this is the most likely thing to happen.

Indeed.
That's just the sort of thing I was thinking of when I said "A pardon?" in the post you quoted.
(Although now I'm hearing it in my mind a la Lady Bracknell: "A haaandbag?"/"A paaardon?")

No, I don't. I listened to episode 1 on YouTube, but now can't get eps 2 onwards.

I think the more interesting question is why when hundreds of rich and powerful men have been mentioned alongside accusations of rape, murder, assault and trafficking is the only person to have been prosecuted one solitary woman.

piscofrisco · 04/02/2026 06:22

guinnessguzzler · 02/02/2026 15:22

@Thingything I have doubts about Guiffre too. I think it is plausible that she did end her own life but I think it is at least equally plausible that she was killed.

I’ve always just assumed she was killed tbh

Rich and powerful men will be part of networks, they will all support help and protect each other. Quite possibly because they are all involved in the same activities, they all have enough dirt on each other to destroy each other so their best option is to protect each other.
It's easier to take down a woman, the men in the protection networks will be much less loyal to her than they will be to the men.

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/02/2026 11:38

Epstein was jailed too remember? So the two leaders of the pedo ring were prosecuted, not just the woman. It’s not enough, of course, but why do people forget Epstein?

simpsonthecat · 04/02/2026 11:48

Epstein wasn't jailed the first time in the true sense of the word. He spent 13 months in the equivalent of an open prison (the private wing of the Palm Beach County Stockade) and after 3 months in there, he was allowed out (day release) 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. His cell door was unlocked and he had access to an 'Attorney room' amongst other privileges when he was actually in there.

So, no, this is not being jailed as we know it.

Yes, he was jailed the second time pending a court date, but it was for a very short time before he mysteriously died.

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/02/2026 11:54

Ok fair enough

Amalegeezer · 07/02/2026 18:53

The usual. Women have to cover for the bad behaviour of men. Whistle-blowers don't get rewarded and she has to secure her future. That's what it is to live in a patriarchy when you are a woman. What is so difficult to understand about that? And that is coming from a man. I'm male and even I can see that! Wake up and smell the coffee! Ghislaine is a survivor. She had a megalomaniac father and then was drawn to an abusive manipulative but incredibly powerful man. Not unlike her father. Give the woman a break. She's just trying to survive FFS. As you would do in her situation. I'm not saying that what she did was morally acceptable or right. But look at the President of the USA. He's an abusive, racist, misogynist narcissist and millions of USA voters are OK with that. Get some perspective FFS!

peanutbuttertoasty · 07/02/2026 19:04

Errr, no. She was a human trafficker and pedophile enabler. Women can be evil too, would you believe. If your understanding of women will stretch to that.

Pallisers · 07/02/2026 19:08

No I won't be giving Ghislane Maxwell a break. I can hold the thought that she is an abusive trafficker of girls and women AND the thought that the president of the US is abusive, racist, misogynistic and narcissistic. Trump being that bad doesn't give everyone else a free pass.

simpsonthecat · 07/02/2026 19:16

Ghislaine Maxwell has enabled the monster Epstein. Repeatedly. She trawled Malls, trailer parks, schools looking for young vulnerable girls to hand on a plate to old pervy men, promising them modelling careers, payment for college courses, money. Some of these girls were just 14 years old! She was calculated and exploitative and used her position to gain trust of these young girls and was a procurer and recruiter and is devoid of regret or remorse for her victims.
Please let's not paint her as a victim.

TaRaRaBumDeeAy · 07/02/2026 19:22

I saw something that said in all the men that have done all this the only person who is being punished is a woman maybe she's figured its not worth it and I do believe she shoukd be punished
