Why is Ghislaine Maxwell remaining silent?

Letsskidaddle · 02/02/2026 14:45

Posting in AIBU for traffic, but I mean ‘AIBU to wonder why she’s not said stuff…”

Is it out of loyalty? Would saying anything incriminate her even further? Will she be freed if she stays silent, and if so how/why?

I also don’t understand how she can’t be encouraged to say something. You’d think she’d be raging inside to be the only person imprisoned and would want that rectifying.

she doesn't want to end up like Epstein I would imagine.

Yep, this sounds about right. A life in prison obviously seems more appealing than being killed in prison.

Americano75 · 02/02/2026 16:55

Because she's a self serving bastard who doesn't want to be unalived like her deviant pig of a boyfriend.

I bet the money is already in the bank, and the story is already written, for this.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking. The story is almost certainly already written as an insurance policy against anything unexpected happening to her.

If we all live long enough we'll probably find out some of the story.

Aliflowers · 02/02/2026 16:57

Kelta · 02/02/2026 15:28

She has a generous trust fund and millions in the bank.

She is worried about her safety.

This! I remember reading about her “worth” when she was first arrested and it was stated basically they couldn’t assess it. Her father’s estate is obviously worth nothing now and she was crippled with legal fees but it’s also believed she has millions in off shore accounts and LLCs. I mean she wouldn’t be her fathers daughter if she’d learned nothing from him

But to the question of why she doesn’t say anything, what’s the advantage to her? She’s safer keeping quiet, and to be honest, who would give any credence to anything she has to say. She’s a convicted sex trafficker and paedophile. I wouldn’t believe a single word she uttered

AgentJohnson · 02/02/2026 17:00

She’s waiting for a pardon. As soon as Trump leaves office, she’ll probably get one.

Suck up to Trump and there’s a good chance that you or someone close to you will be released, Ms Minaj is the latest, who clearly wants something in return for her sycophancy.

HighStreetOtter · 02/02/2026 17:02

Gloopsy · 02/02/2026 15:05

You cant work out that with the fear of being murdered it's probably a good idea to stay quiet?

I genuinely wonder this. Because on one hand is it better to say something and get it all out in the open? Because then the motive for killing her to keep it quiet is gone. Only motive would be punishment. But currently someone could decide it’s not worth the risk of letting her still be alive.

i think she’s hoping for a presidential pardon.

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 02/02/2026 17:03

I imagine she doesn’t want her or any of her family to have the same fate as people who’ve spoken out before. She had 8 siblings apparently.

soupyspoon · 02/02/2026 17:04

Ms Minaj?

Walkaround · 02/02/2026 17:08

As if she would survive honesty. What a ridiculous idea. She can either die, or her life can be made considerably more comfortable if she keeps schtum, or bends the truth beyond recognition. It doesn’t take a genius to know what happens to people who threaten the powerful and corrupt. It’s not like leaders of countries are honest about Trump, Musk, or anyone else, so why on earth would Ghislaine Maxwell be honest? Besides, her entire life has been based on profiting from unhealthy relationships with the wealthy and powerful.

HorrorAndHaagenDazs · 02/02/2026 17:09

Self preservation.

Bloozie · 02/02/2026 17:11

She doesn't want her life to end the way Epstein's did.

It's obvious why she's not talking.

CrikeyNumpty · 02/02/2026 17:12

She is perhaps scared of being silenced.

Her loyalty to Andrew should not be underestimated - they were romantically involved for a while.

At the weekend it was said that Epstein was running a global honeytrap paid for by Russia and also on behalf of Mossad - and he was introduced to this world by Robert Maxwell. RM also disappeared strangely. The bonds run deep but so must the fear that she will be silenced.

Not to mention the inevitable fatal accidents all her loved ones will experience

This. I think she will mysteriously die soon after her release.

Trump has it in his power to grant her a pardon - I expect that's what she is waiting for

Exactly. Trump has even spoken about the possibility of pardoning her.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 02/02/2026 17:27

What she say? She should be locked in a maximum security prison like the rest of them. Who knows what world secrets she is holding, I’m surprised she hasn’t been assassinated yet.

Someone has got to stay alive to testify that a certain person was 100% never on the island and was not aware of anything going on.

LBFseBrom · 02/02/2026 17:34

She is probably talking to her lawyers and preparing something. I agree, she's carrying the can. She was Epstein's only real friend, knew his secrets, nobody else did. He certainly manipulated and exploited her, she was in love with him but she and he parted a very long time ago. I would think by now she has done enough penance. Thank goodness her family are sticking by her.

I can't imagine there is much more she can say, frankly. We all know Epstein cultivated cordial relationships with prominent people, that gave him cover; he was was extremely wealthy and influential in various fields. He must have had some charisma because even after he was convicted many didn't believe he was wrong, he'd done so much to help their careers, etc.

Meanwhile the media are enjoying it. I'm sick of it, frankly, all the muckraking is doing nobody any good, least of all the poor young women he trafficked.

Miranda65 · 02/02/2026 17:39

I understand that Ghislaine Maxwell committed criminal offences and is rightly in gaol. However, it still baffles me that only a woman is currently incarcerated in relation to this - what about all the men, FFS?
Not to mention that the only people who have had any kind of "punishment" are all British - Maxwell, Andrew M-W (loss of status, titles and home) and Mandelson (loss of job... so far). What about all the Americans?

I read an article that says, broadly, that the British Establishment is quick to chuck out those who break the rules, whereas the Americans are more likely to band together to protect their own...... maybe some truth in that?

Changedname9999 · 02/02/2026 17:43

I am only half joking but remember David Ickes belief that the elite were all lizards. A different race here to take over the world. Just saying!

you are very naive. She was guilty as sin. Along with many others.

Yes, exactly how bonkers was he? Makes you wonder.

It’s not really baffling. This publicity is just a penny dreadful for the public to enjoy frothing at the mouth about whilst simultaneously voting monsters into power and turning a blind eye to corruption when it suits them to do so.
