Am not usually one to post these kinds of threads but this is so sad. I've loved her since childhood and am currently in the middle of a Schitt's Creek binge to take my mind off the usual winter bugs. She was such a fantastic actress and so, so funny.

I am unspeakably sad about this! And celeb deaths don’t usually bother me,
I loved her in Schitts Creek and then again in a very different role in The Last of Us. She seemed so “youthful” and didn’t miss a beat with her lines.

CoffeeCoffeePlease · 30/01/2026 21:25

I read somewhere quite recently that Catherine invented the unique accent she adopted for Schitt’s Creek and also the pronunciation of ‘bebe’ and the director loved it so it stuck. How great is that.

Aintgointogoa · 30/01/2026 21:25

I am gutted 🖤 She was on such a roll. So so funny in The Studio as well. Forever in our hearts as the inimitable Moira Rose. And yes, Danny Boy as an eulogy....family must be devastated, it was so quick. Thank you Catherine. Here's a toast but not in aw-ful fruit wine ....💐🌈

Sad news.

Peridot1 · 30/01/2026 21:28

So shocking and sad. Loved her in Schittt’s Creek. And Home Alone.

Definitely a loss that has shocked me.

Foggytree · 30/01/2026 21:29

Very sad. She was fab as Moira Rose.

The last thing I saw her in was a documentary about John Candy. Never realised they were all in a comedy group together.

Willow12345 · 30/01/2026 21:32

We are all so sad about this news.
The SC folding cheese scene was Moira Rose at her finest.
What an amazing actress. She will be missed 💔

Let’s all ignore the spectacular fuckwit that is @Netcurtainnelly. They’re obviously as thick as mince (sorry, mince).

I’m imagining Moira Rose’s response though…….

Agreed. Moria might say “ be careful, John, lest you suffer vertigo from the dizzying heights of your moral high ground”

Coffeecocoabeans · 30/01/2026 21:38

So sad about this news. When I first watched schitts creek I thought wtf but as the show went on I absolutely loved Moira Rose! Brilliant acting, so so funny and no one else like her, I couldn’t imagine anyone else taking on that role.
Just thinking about Moira’s audition for the choir now is making me laugh! Thank you Bebe.

I’m definitely going to try that moira rose tequila a pp mentioned, and will find and watch all of her other shows/ films that I haven’t seen.

RIP Catherine O’Hara 😥

Christmasjoyis · 30/01/2026 21:39

unbelievablybelievable · 30/01/2026 21:49

Just told DH and his response, "but the poor bébé!"

CaseClosedWineOpened · 30/01/2026 21:51

Gutted - SC is one of my favourite shows ever. Amazing actress 😢

Talapia · 30/01/2026 21:55

OH MY GOD I totally forgot she was in The Studio! Such a great role. So glad she was doing really good work right up until the end.

Teaforthetotal · 30/01/2026 22:00

I'm sad too. She was magnificent. I was wondering what project we'd see her in next, she had so much talent.

Fangisnotacoward · 30/01/2026 22:01

Its very sad, she was iconic is so many roles.

Sidebeforeself · 30/01/2026 19:01

I can imagine a perfectly dressed Moira giving her eulogy at the funeral 🖤

Someone needs to sing O Danny Boy.

Awful news xx

Surreyblah · 30/01/2026 22:05

An iconic performer. Really sad.

ReyRey12 · 30/01/2026 22:25

Beetlejuice is my favourite movie. Schitt's creek, amazing.

She did look very skinny in her last public appearance.

Raineys · 30/01/2026 22:33

My son has never watched "Surviving Christmas" 2004 with Gandofini...a total Christmas comforter. So loved it. A tremendous cast. So funny. Love it.

EdithBond · 30/01/2026 22:56

Legend. What a body of work she’s left for us to enjoy 👏

Very sad. She was fab as Moira Rose.

The last thing I saw her in was a documentary about John Candy. Never realised they were all in a comedy group together.

Candy, Ackroyd, Moranis, O'Hara (and I believe Mike Myers came later). Eugene Levy, who wrote SC, also among that group.

It's an amazing collection of comedic talent that Canada gave to the world.

Ukefluke · 30/01/2026 23:39

Can help thinking that although there was a script writer, the SC team has no idea what they were going to get. Moira Rose was all Catherine. You couldnt predict such a bonkers creation .The voice😁

They must have all pissed themselves filming her more outrageous moments .

IdleThoughts · 30/01/2026 23:52

I'm genuinely sad, what a talented actress she was. She's the same age as my mum, so it feels like no age at all.

How lovely was Macaulay Culkin's instagram post about her though. I found it so touching the speech she did about him when he got his star on the Hollywood walk of fame, you could see they genuinely cared about oneanother.

NotMeAtAll · 31/01/2026 00:02

I love that the famous "Kevin!" moment on the plane in Home Alone wasn't scripted. She forgot her lines and just made something up.
