I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed.

I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

If they didn’t tell people in the queue they were shut/shutting before they’d got to the front you’d be kicking off about that.

So she tried to discourage you, so you'd leave. But you pushed the issue by staying.

She clearly was tryinng to stop you kicking off. So you kicked off.

Yes, it was. You may not have understood it, but I think she was going to assess whether or not she could squeeze in your order depending on your answer.

So she was trying to help. She's been serving customers all day and didn't explain in a way that was clear to you. But she is still trying to help. She's not just hugely curious about how many pizzas you wanted.

and you've said here "it was conditions" - yes, the condition being that if you'd needed one pizza, she could probably help, but if you said you needed eight, she probably can't.

Just accept, yes, it is your rage - not sure what being a mum has to do with it - and you should probably try to calm down and have a non-caffeinated drink.

OP you have called this woman an arse and said her actions were bitchy, if you can’t see you’re the one with the attitude problem there’s no helping you.

I suspect she said she was going to shut because she thought that, by the time she had done the pizzas she was already doing, it would be time to shut, and she thought it was the reasonable thing to let you know, so you didn’t end up waiting, only to be told the counter was shut. That was not a ‘bitch’ thing to do - it was simply providing relevant information.

Maybe she had more time than she thought, once she had finished what she was doing, or maybe she bought you were disappointed not to be able to order a pizza, so she was offering to do your order for you, if she could - and you bit her head off.

There was only one rude person, and it was not the retail worker, @mumanger - it was you.

Sorry but how late do you expect them to work for what I expect is minimum or close to minimum wage? They can’t clean up until the last order is made I would imagine, so of course there were conditions. You want a quick pizza to feed your family? Fine. You’re feeding your kids whole football team? Not enough time. Honestly how up your arse do you expect people to be?

It sounds as though she'd finished her shift and was keen to get home so she said firmly that she was closing. Then when you mooched off looking disappointed, she thought 'Oh well, if it means that much to her, I could just do another one or two...' Can't think of any other reason she'd ask. As you say, why would she care if she wasn't planning to offer to make them?

If you are this incredibly unpleasant over having to buy a pre made pizza I’d hate to see you when something actually consequential happens.

It's not rude to tell a customer the pizza counter is shut when it's shut. It's not bitchy.

She was shut. She probably thought she'd do you a favour and make you your pizza when she saw you still wandering about looking forlorn at the prepared pizzas. She definitely won't bother next time, so not only have you lost out on your pizza but anyone else in your position will also have lost out.
