I can't serve you, actually I will

I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed.

I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

Imagine finding out you have a social processing disorder next to the pepperonis 😭

I really don't like the pizza counter pizzas tbh. Cardboard crusts and shit cheese ime. Obviously home made is the way to go for pizza perfection but failing this I prefer the prepacked ones. What am I missing?

Honestly don't know, my ex used to really like them though. If I get a supermarket pizza I head straight for prepackaged spinach and ricotta

pontipinemum · 03/01/2026 22:12

Wow @mumanger if you haven't listened to anyone else on here you prob won't listen to me, but you need to realise that yes your rage is absolutely out of control.

The likely scenario:

Your joined the queue and she was shutting so told you she was shutting.
She saw how pissed off you looked
Decided OK I will work a little longer and make this lady pizzas it seems very important to her.
Asked how many you wanted - so she could make them.
You were rude to her.

Have you never once in your life changed your mind or made an exception?

BustyLaRoux · 03/01/2026 22:15

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:07

I wasn't rude.

After telling someone you are shut then why ask them how many they want? To give them further disappointment? Either say "I'm sorry I can only do one pizza" or shut.

Are you autistic by any chance?

I don’t mean that to be insulting to you. Or to anyone autistic. It’s just that you seem to be very fixed on something needing to be as it was originally described and finding it difficult to see what everyone else on here can: that the woman then clearly tried to offer you a gesture of goodwill. You, on the other hand, interpret this as “rude” and “none of her business” which is a very strange way to read that.

illsendansostotheworld · 03/01/2026 22:24

Ever worked in retail OP? Or with people?

PinkLoveHearts · 03/01/2026 22:24

Get a grip, “mum rage” more like self entitlement. Yabu

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:01

How is it kind? She told she straight away she wouldn't serve me. So I had to look for premade pizzas. So why then change? And it's "how many do you want" it wasn't "I can squeeze you in if you order just one". It was conditions.

The change was because she felt bad for you, and thought she would try to help?
What you see as ‘conditions’ was literally her asking you how many you wanted?
🤔

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:15

She didn't try and help me
She told me the pizza counter was shut. Then proceeded to ask me how many pizzas I was buying. How is that any of her business?

It's her business because she was going to let you have what you wanted, as you would have discovered if you had only bothered to be polite in your reply.

Busybeemumm · 03/01/2026 22:38

Most people would be so grateful that she offered to stay on to squeeze in making one more pizza even though she was shut. Its really not cool to be rude to retail staff, especially when they are trying to be helpful.

Fulmine · 03/01/2026 22:39

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:03

Of course people are going to be disappointed if they can't get a pizza.... So why should it matter either way. You are either shut or not.

Not necessarily. It's not like pizza is that much of a big deal. Plenty of people might just shrug their shoulders and go and find something else, or just decide to save the money.

PeachySmile2 · 03/01/2026 22:41

What a miserable cow you are 🤣🤣

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2026 22:41

Are you ok op because you seem, I dunno, UNREASONABLE!

SunnyValemin · 03/01/2026 22:43

I never understand these posts where OP asks if they are being unreasonable, are told yes but can't accept it. Why bother asking if you don't think you were unreasonable?

GalaxyJam · 03/01/2026 22:45

Fulmine · 03/01/2026 22:39

Not necessarily. It's not like pizza is that much of a big deal. Plenty of people might just shrug their shoulders and go and find something else, or just decide to save the money.

Exactly this, it’s just pizza. I don’t think I’d feel ‘disappointed’, I’d just find something else for dinner.

Marmalady75 · 03/01/2026 22:51

I love how everyone on this thread is telling the OP she was rude and out of order and to prove she isn’t some rude arsehole, behaves like a rude arsehole to everyone on the thread 🤣. BTW it’s not mum rage it’s just bad manners.

Onthemaintrunkline · 03/01/2026 23:01

The answer to yr post is unanimous….you were and are rude! You refuse to see or acknowledge it, so I’ll say again….you are rude!

Sofamonkey2day · 03/01/2026 23:02

@mumanger I think you win the award for the most unreasonable poster in whole history of mumsnet 😆

HankyP · 03/01/2026 23:03

Gosh OP, I think you were right that your mum rage is out of control. A majority of the respondents on here kinda back that too.

I hope you still managed an enjoyable evening with or without pizza and that the member of staff isn't so jaded by your reply that she spits on your pizza next time you want some making.

Tikicharlie · 03/01/2026 23:04

This happened to me once! And once only. I saw red due to mum rage and the lowly pizza counter worker ended up wrapped in cellophane and served up as the main dish for our party.

Of course all that happened was I replied politely “I just need 4 XL Margherita pizzas” and he replied “Oh that’s okay, I’ve run out of most toppings but pop back in 10 minutes and I’ll have that done for you.”

DreamTheMoors · 03/01/2026 23:05

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:06

Do me a favor when she already told me she was shut?

How is that doing me a favour? Why not do the favour in the first place?

Or actually provide what they are supposed to...

It’s a PIZZA.

IT IS NOT A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT FOR YOUR CHILD.

Do everybody else here a favor and take a few moments to decompress and lighten up.

thebabessavedme · 03/01/2026 23:06

12 pages in and the best I can come up with is 'OP do fuck off'

Wolfpa · 03/01/2026 23:08

Are you normally this angry? It may be time to have a chat with the Dr about HRT

Butchyrestingface · 03/01/2026 23:09

"I don't know if my mum rage is out of control"

Yup. Smile

MissDoubleU · 03/01/2026 23:10

YABVU - she was shutting and technically shouldn’t have served you, however she thought on reflection she could push the boat and throw one together if you didn’t need lots. She asked to see if she could go the extra mile.

You snapped and were incredibly rude, actually. Did yourself out of pizza with your bad attitude. Well done.

Alcoholrecovery · 03/01/2026 23:11

She was trying to help you old girl. Your bad attitude is going to sour your days. It’s a new year. All is going to be ok
