I don't know if my mum rage is out of control but I went to Asda pizza counter and they were closing so I was told as soon as I joined the queue of 2 people that they were shut. They don't display time and the lights were on, so I was a bit annoyed.

I went to look at the premade pizzas, very annoyed but I didn't say anything to the lady. She then asked how many pizzas I wanted, I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

Aibu - either shut and be shut, or serve people?

Christ what an attitude!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/01/2026 21:36

This thread is making me want pizza now 😂

Mummyneedsacoffee · 03/01/2026 21:37

Why post this? It’s a none issue. You are totally being unreasonable for arguing with EVERYONE on here. YOU are clearly in the wrong and VERY rude, own up, grow up and move on

TheMerryJoker · 03/01/2026 21:38

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:01

How is it kind? She told she straight away she wouldn't serve me. So I had to look for premade pizzas. So why then change? And it's "how many do you want" it wasn't "I can squeeze you in if you order just one". It was conditions.

because she was either then feeling bad and was trying to help, jesus mary whats wrong with people

WilfredsPies · 03/01/2026 21:38

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:18

No
She already said she was shut. So why then ask how many pizzas I wanted?

Why are you finding this so hard to understand? She told you she was shut, and then obviously felt sorry for you so decided to help you if she had enough toppings left for the number of pizzas you wanted. But oh no, you decided to bite your nose off to spite your face, so I expect her next thought was ‘Fuck you then, have a ready made one and I hope it gives you indigestion’.

Also, if you’re telling a story from your point of view, and every single person is saying that you were in the wrong, at what point are you going to consider whether or not you could have handled things differently? You behaved like a rude child having a tantrum.

Did anyone else get the pizza cutting slice ad on this thread?Did tickle me.

Yes I did 😆

I agree with the OP. Stop wasting my time. Either you are shut or you are not. I’ve got places to be.

Yep, having a good giggle over here. Attached it for others.

As for OP, you have a problem with rigid thinking. If your tire was flat, you got to the mechanic’s and they were just locking the door… but then they saw you outside, shivering in pouring rain, so a lady working there re-opened the door to say they can help.
… and OP would say, “I reminded her she was shut so why does it matter.

OP, are you normally this obtuse or rigid in your thinking? Yes, the pizza lady was trying to close on time, but decided to try to help you since nothing was wiped down yet. If you go through life reacting like this to things, you’re going to be disappointed and frustrated with everything.

You're joking. A man shoved me out of the way in there just before Christmas! Posh shops attract mean people.

OP I hope life gets better. It's common to fixate on minor irritations when you don't have a lot of control over the real problem. Just take it easy.

I think she was making a joke about pizza crusts rather than the quality of customers 😁

Thalia31 · 03/01/2026 21:51

mumanger · 03/01/2026 19:07

I wasn't rude.

After telling someone you are shut then why ask them how many they want? To give them further disappointment? Either say "I'm sorry I can only do one pizza" or shut.

Are you autistic?

Evidemment · 03/01/2026 21:52

She wasn't asking how many pizzas you wanted just to have a chat - she was going to try and help.

OP and the handful of other posters who can't see how ludicrous OP's behaviour has been here -
Do you find you're often outraged by the general public and you often miss obvious social cues like this one?

This is a tough one to have managed to misread and shows either an inability to pick up on social cues (could be for any number of reasons of course but if you don't know this about yourself may be worth looking into) or just a predisposition to be miserable and assume the worst of people which is not a fun way to live.

BanditSlashed · 03/01/2026 21:52

Oh my word if only this was the biggest issue in my life right now.
Read alllllll your posts on this thread. How much time and energy you have put into responding making yourself look even worse over a pizza?!

My God they were closed. She then had a thought maybe she will do it anyway since you're there, and probably full of attitude going by this. What more did you want.
She won't ever do it again for anyone thanks to you...

Just wow. Hope your year gets better OP you were dealt a rough hand this early in.

It’s definitely the mum rage.

Really, REALLY not reasonable to be this mad over pizza/perceived poor service.

Storming home, starting a thread on Mumsnet, fighting to the death with anyone who suggests you are being unreasonable…

It really is you, my love.

What’s mum rage?

What like the pre made pizza aisle in Asda?

ViperHalliwell · 03/01/2026 21:54

How is this "mum rage"? Would a dad or a nonbinary parent or a childless person not have been confused/annoyed?

Eenameenadeeka · 03/01/2026 21:56

Your rage is definitely out of control, she was trying to help you.

Probably not, I think the rage is specific to OP only!

I really don't like the pizza counter pizzas tbh. Cardboard crusts and shit cheese ime. Obviously home made is the way to go for pizza perfection but failing this I prefer the prepacked ones. What am I missing?

Asda pizzas are gorgeous. Loads better than Sainsbury’s.

Try a thick crust with extra cheese, tomato, onion and sweetcorn. It is so delicious. I mean, not worth having a tantrum over, but they are the best as far as supermarket pizza counters go.

AbbotSade1985 · 03/01/2026 21:19

I'm not sure the OP has actually been that rude. I've seen far, far worse behaviour discussed on MN where most replies have been supportive.

OP - we've all had our bad days and I get why you snapped at her. I'm autistic and being told the counter was closed and then seemingly open again would confuse me greatly and unsettle me.

Edited

The counter wasn't open again though - this was an individual offering to assist OP out of kindness, not professional obligation.

It is also extremely obvious that this is what was happening, even through OP's lense/writing - thus why everyone is calling OP wildly rude for the way she reacted. She didn't "snap at" someone she took a kindness and basically spat on it seemingly out of spite. We can only assume she is either unable to pick up the social cues 99% of mumsnet can or unfortunately OP is just a bit of knob.

🤣🤣🤣

5128gap · 03/01/2026 22:06

She asked you how many you wanted when she was shut because she wanted you to say 'two'. Then she'd have said 'what toppings?' And you'd have said 'a pulled pork with bbq base and jalapeño, and a tuna and sweetcorn please'. Then she'd have leaned in at you, banged down the pizza cutter, and snarled 'Well tough titties loser. We're shut.'
Its known as pizza server rage. Good on you for not falling for it.
