Disclaimer: Not 100% serious at all 😏

Mine would be to ban repeat offenders who don't return to the threads they start.

A mahooosive multicoloured sticky banner reminding OPs to include their kid's ages in the opening post, as it's nearly always relevant.

What would you add/remove/change?

EchoedSilence · 31/12/2025 23:01

I'd ban anyone who posts 'first post nails it'

Fernsrus · 31/12/2025 23:11

People who are demanding and those who are ungrateful. So many don’t bother even to say thanks to posters who’ve helped them. They need pulling up a bit. People who are constantly trying to pry personal information out people should be banned.

JuliesName · 31/12/2025 23:12

Ban those awful ads pretending to be threads on the home page.

DameOfThrones · 31/12/2025 23:13

Oh I've thought of another one.

People pulling others up on their spelling/grammar when it's perfectly obvious what they're saying.

They'd get an immediate ban 😬

No cross-posting to Facebook, make the emoji reactions public and bring back the laughter one, let OP’s close their threads to new posts when they have the advice they need, no women’s bums in ads, more reminders to not be dicks to each other.

latenights · 31/12/2025 23:18

Get rid of the Royal boards, they do not reflect well on MNs particularly as they are now trying to foster a kinder community.

Somehow attract new & younger posters or maybe just more middle aged ones!

TheDandyLion · 31/12/2025 23:19

Make the moderators move threads to the correct topic.

TheDandyLion · 31/12/2025 23:20

Enable a function which allows you to hide threads without clicking into the thread everywhere not just in the active feed.

CapercaillieP · 31/12/2025 23:21

I'd just run it as a forum. No one's interested in anything but the threads. Staff cuts would mean they needed fewer bloody ads.

And don't get me started on the moderation policy.

MaybeNotNo · 31/12/2025 23:22

Id allow calling out troll posts. Its so frustrating to see people feeding the wank fodder, and grief vultures.

I do report, but fuck me some posts.

Yep. So many gullible posters.

ResusciAnnie · 31/12/2025 23:23

Bring the laugh reaction back immediately.

And make reactions visible to everyone.

I forget there are other pages!

Edit:

Ignore me. I can only do it in Active 😊

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 31/12/2025 23:25

Bring back the laugh reaction, but allow posters to opt out of receiving reactions if they felt they might be upset by the laugh reaction being abused to mock their posts.

I will say, make the adverts less intrusive but of course, if I owned it, I would want the revenue so it might not be a simple decision when I had to balance the books.

I wish you could still namechange mid-thread for humour reasons but again, I can see why it was stopped due to sockpuppeting.

hmdxm1 · 31/12/2025 23:25

Allow troll hunting and no cross posting on social media.

Sux2buthen · 31/12/2025 23:26

Posts about who can use which public toilet
posts quoting the full OP for absolutely no reason

VividPinkTraybake · 31/12/2025 23:26

Ban

A) tingly laugh

B) "trust your gut" on a site where everyone falls for the fakes stories ever

C) people who try and destroy real life's by suggesting responses that make them seem big and clever

D) people who say "but I'm petty" like it is badge of honour and not a red flag that they are 12 years old

latenights · 31/12/2025 23:27

Yes, to both of these. Don’t really understand the resistance. I think it’s helpful to know if you’re talking shite or not!

EchoedSilence · 31/12/2025 23:27

Ban anyone who says 'lazy parenting'

PermanentTemporary · 31/12/2025 23:28

Nothing. I hate the laugh emoticon on FB, it’s always being used by idiots, along with the ‘laugh til you cry’ emoticon. I only gave to spend a bit of time on Reddit to see how incredibly readable MN is in comparison.

DameOfThrones · 31/12/2025 23:28

I think the laugh reaction should be 'opt in'.

So if people are worried anyone might use it in a nasty way against them, they can disable it.

OP posts:
HumerousHumous · 31/12/2025 23:29

Quoting the op. Often in the second or third replies and especially annoying if op is very long. I just don’t understand why you would hit quote. We know you are replying to the op. So I’d ban that.

Remove the moving ads from the app.

Get better and quicker night time moderation.

Move private school posts into the private schools threads as they’re all over the place, generally ignored.

TakeTheCuntingQuichePatricia · 31/12/2025 23:30

I'd get rid of the reactions completely.
I'd ban users who post DS2 to mean 2 year old son, rather than DS (2) which is how we did it when it was all fields around here.

EchoedSilence · 31/12/2025 23:31

Allow people to directly reply to a comment. instead of quoting.
