does anyone know anyone who works there please? Someone stole an item out my hands today in a different store and it’s the only store with stock of the item which I’ve hunted everywhere for but I can’t get through to store only a central call centre; anyone know how I can before I drive all that way for potentially wasted journey please?

OP posts:

OP if you go to the Irish website which I think is M&S.ie and it’s in stock in Grafton St, I could pick it up for you tomorrow morning. I’ll be in the UK on Monday so could post it from there to bypass all the customs regs.

@Cleaneufy OP confirmed it’s a 90 minute journey for her.

People on here used to love this type of thread and a kind person would have gone and posted it on with much reporting back and updates and photos.

I miss the old days.

@Cleaneufy She could have. But she chose a different option which was perfectly acceptable.

@Cleaneufy Did it? I’m not sure you’ve read through all the posts. OP explained her reason for not posting a link and a number of people have volunteered to check out the store for her today. So that’s a pretty successful outcome for the OP and also great to know there are people out there who will help a stranger out.

lol I don’t think slinging insults whatever the reason is the sign of a kind person. Kindness is never wasted.

I didn’t ask people to search for the bag, I asked if anyone who worked there or was in there knew how I could contact the store as their number just connects to a call centre who can’t help. and I certainly didn’t ask you to read the thread or search 😊

It’s a bag, I just can’t imagine wasting time creating a thread and asking strangers to help me find a bag. It’s quite sad. And your martyr act is sadder still.

@Jackiepumpkinhead where's your Christmas spirit?? Or maybe you've had too much of it!! No need to be so unkind.

lonelynewname · 28/12/2025 09:02

Jackie, did 3 ghosts visit you?

lol yes, an unimaginable waste of time...but you don't mind wasting your time on the very same thread @Jackiepumpkinhead
THAT is quite sad 😆

I don't think expecting adults to be civil and not be unnecessarily rude over such an innocuous topic is a martyr act either. The fact that you think so is genuinely sadder still, what a sad reflection on the world. I guess miserable people like to spread their misery.

I know, and then they’d probably go and be witnesses at each other’s weddings too! Everyone’s vile currently!

mrschocolatte · 28/12/2025 09:19

@Yepyouknowit I don’t think the post you are referring to means what you think.

Not long ago I went off in search of a particular small suitcase, which a MN-er had seen in a tiny tourist shop near Tower Bridge. Her child had fallen in love with it but she’d refused to buy it at the time. She couldn’t remember the name of the shop but did know vaguely where it was. She lived hundreds of miles away from London but was coming through again for work and would have just enough time to divert to the shop IF the little case was still there.

It was easy enough to do in my lunch hour and it was a successful quest! I took some photos - yep, right case - and the shopkeeper agreed to put it aside. Job done.

Don’t know why you have to be so sour. People like to help others out.

Hallamlass · 28/12/2025 09:40

It's very interesting. Handbag threads - of any kind - tend to be met with disdain by many posters on MN. I think handbags, being such a female thing, have consequently been roundly mocked. There's a lot of internalised misogyny around the whole topic, I find.

Hallamlass · 28/12/2025 09:42

Nice thing to do, @friskybivalves .
I'll be round the corner from Fargate this afternoon, so it's no problem to go into Marks and have a look for her.
