does anyone know anyone who works there please? Someone stole an item out my hands today in a different store and it’s the only store with stock of the item which I’ve hunted everywhere for but I can’t get through to store only a central call centre; anyone know how I can before I drive all that way for potentially wasted journey please?

I want to know more about the theft of the bag from your hands. Why didn't you follow the thief to the till and report them for snatching from you?

This
Surely you'd be like "WTF ya doing, man?!" " and chase them down 😁

It won’t let me do that as it’s out of stock online, just want to speak to someone in store so it can be saved for hour or two before I can get there

Ha ha, good one. They are never going to do this in a million years.

Phone them and ask? I did that earlier this year at my local Waitrose. You can Google the store and find the number that way.

Depends, the people working at Waitrose did that for me in November. I phoned to ask if they had any of their Halloween stuffies in stock, they had one, so they put her behind the desk for me. (It's a ghost wearing a witch's hat, I called her Sarah and she lives in DS's cot now.)

It just goes to a random central call centre who are unhelpful

Yeah agreed. I’ve had lots of places do this over the years. I guess it depends on the way you speak to people if they want to help you. I’m guessing there are a lot of rude people during sales who they definitely won’t help 😊

Am I missing something here but how on earth is a bag so vital to your existence???

Hallamlass · 27/12/2025 16:34

Have you tried 0114 275 4913?

It’s not vital to my existence, I just like it a lot, perfect size and style for things I carry and wear. Have you never liked something a lot? Forgive me for liking something 🙄

Yes thanks though. It just goes to central call centre who say they “have no way of contacting the store”

I just think it’s a bit extreme
I’m sure it’ll pop up on vinted before long

Oh I see, they must have disabled that local number.

You can't buy the in store items online, you have to go to the shop, M&S online comes from the warehouse. It's not like JL where you can have them sent from a store online if the warehouse has no stock

Annoyingly, JL now charges a separate delivery fee (£4.95?) for each item sent from another store, and will only let you buy one at a time. At least, that was the case in their last sale.

Teensknowitall · 27/12/2025 16:38

Did any other stores have the item in ? I have big m&s near me. Staines park stanway/ Colchester so if it's in there I will be going tomorrow. Pm if I can help 😃

RampantIvy · 27/12/2025 16:39

Is it possible to ring the Meadowhall store and ask if they can contact the Fargate store internally to check?

Extreme to not want to drive 90 minutes for a wasted trip and therefore seek a way to contact store when M&S customer services have been unhelpful? Think it would be more extreme to travel not knowing if in stock first. If I don’t get it, I don’t get it but worth asking. Thanks for your input tho. Have a lovely evening.

Nope unfortunately that goes to call centre too, I think you used to be able to call stores directly, not sure when they changed it

Stucknstoopit · 27/12/2025 16:43

Oh op… I was so close to offering and then you started getting snippy with people. I’m intrihued by your hyperfocus on the particular bag, I’d love to know if it’s still haunting you by next Christmas

Tighteningmybelt · 27/12/2025 16:43

How did someone pinch it? You should have just taken it back. The store checkers are rubbish btw. The staff say they’re not reliable at all.

For gods sake it’s a bag!
honestly give your head a wobble and think about the bigger issues in the world - if it was a child’s favourite toy that had been lost or damaged that’s one thing but to drive 90 mins to buy a bag is pure insanity regardless of how much you like it. Total first world issue!
all these things end up on vinted eventually I’m sure you will get one is what I meant and people will be returning stuff to M&S for a couple of weeks yet I’m sure.

TimeForATerf · 27/12/2025 16:46

it won’t be there now, you can pretty much guarantee, I bet there’s a delay in stock. A jumper I tried to buy yesterday said low stock, then before my very eyes it was out of stock, but when I came out and back in again it said low stock, but wouldn’t let me order it. So I got my arse to the store for 8 this morning and secured said jumper.

it isn’t actually that nice in real life but since I’d gone to all he trouble I bought it anyway.

Hallamlass · 27/12/2025 16:46

I'm not going tonight, but will be there tomorrow afternoon, if that helps.

Arlanymor · 27/12/2025 16:46

When you say country, do you mean England? If they have it in Whitewalls Swansea I can get it for you in 15 minutes... (just upping the drama and the ante a bit - but it's true, I can, I'm going to Waterstones for the stationery sale!)

PhantomAfternoonTea · 27/12/2025 16:48

If you'd got in your car to drive to Sheffield at quarter past two instead of starting this thread, you could be the proud owner of this amazing bag by now.

Is it a salmon terrine?

This is what I thought! 🤣
